Summary:
Currently if there are problems finding a symbol, backtrace ends up printing
something like:
0xdeadbeef: at +0x12345
Which is pretty useless. This on its own should be fixed (retrieving symbols),
but aside from that, using db_printsym() is a better solution anyway. If it
can't find a valid symbol it prints the actual address, and it has the added
benefit that if it can find the symbol, it might be able to print the file and
line as well.

Early UART should be released right after system console initialization is
completed. Otherwise, after cninit() both early and system console coexist
what may lead to various issues (i.a. writing to unmapped early
UART address). This cannot be done in cninit_finish() since it can be
called late at the end of MI configuration.

additional information since gpart was activated than before. This
allows fsck of a UFS partition without having to specify it is UFS,
per historic behavior.
For OMAP4, the old values for 1MHz gave a bus frequency of about 890KHz.
The new numbers hit 1MHz exactly.
For AM335x the prescaler values are adjusted to give a 24MHz clock for
all 3 standard speeds, as the manual recommends (as near as we can tell,
there are errors and typos apparent in the document). Also, 1MHz speed
is added, and has been tested successfully on a BeagleboneWhite board.

The current support for controlling i2c bus speed is an inconsistant mess.
There are 4 symbolic speed values defined, UNKNOWN, SLOW, FAST, FASTEST.
It seems to be universally assumed that SLOW means the standard 100KHz
rate from the original spec. Nothing ever calls iicbus_reset() with a
speed of FAST, although some drivers would treat it as the 400KHz standard
speed. Mostly iicbus_reset() is called with the speed set to UNKNOWN or
FASTEST, and there's really no telling what any individual driver will do
with those.
The speed of an i2c bus is limited by the speed of the slowest device on
the bus. This means that generally the bus speed needs to be configured
based on the board/system and the components within it. Historically for
i2c we've configured with device hints. Newer systems use FDT data and it
documents a clock-frequency property for i2c busses. Hobbyists and
developers are likely to want on the fly changes. These changes provide
all 3 methods, but do not require any existing drivers to change to use
the new facilities.
This adds an iicbus method, iicbus_get_frequency(dev, speed) that gets the
frequency for the requested symbolic speed. If the symbolic speed is SLOW
or if there is no speed configured for the bus, the returned value is
100KHz, always. Otherwise, if bus speed is configured by hints, fdt,
tunable, or sysctl, that speed is returned. It also adds a helper
function, iicbus_init_frequency() that any bus driver subclassed from
iicbus can initialize the frequency from some other source of info.
Initial driver implementations are provided for Freescale and TI.

This is the general support to allow the use of GPIO pins as interrupt
sources for direct gpiobus children.
The use of GPIO pins as generic interrupt sources (for an ethernet driver
for example) will only be possible when arm/intrng is complete. Then, most
of this code will need to be rewritten, but it works for now, is better
than what we have and will allow further developments.

This rounding up was lost in a mismerge of illumos code.
See r268075 MFV r267565.
After that commit zio_compress_data() no longer performs any compressed
size adjustment, so it needs to be done externally. On FreeBSD we round
up the size using vdev_ashift rather than SPA_MINBLOCKSIZE so that 4KB
devices are properly supported.
Additionally, zero out the buffer tail only if compression succeeds.
The compression is considered successful if the size of compressed
data after rounding up to account for the vdev ashift is less than the
original data size. It does not make sense to have the data compressed
if all the savings are lost to rounding up.
With the new zio_compress_data() it could have been possible that the
rounded compressed size would be greater than the original size and thus
we could zero beyond the allocated buffer if the zeroing code was kept
at the original place.

After r265152 TRIM requests are ZIO_TYPE_FREE instead of ZIO_TYPE_IOCTL
this meant file backed vdevs to attempted to process the ZIO as a write
causing a panic.
We now disable TRIM on file backed vdevs and ASSERT the ZIO types supported
by each vdev type to ensure we explicity support the ZIO type being
processed.
Also ensure that TRIM on init is not procesed for devices which declare they
didn't support TRIM via vdev_notrim.

Add new RTF_FIXEDMTU to track explicitly specified MTU.
Old behavior:
ifconfig em0 mtu 1500->9000 -> all routes traversing em0 do not change MTU.
User has to manually update all routes.
ifconfig em0 mtu 9000->1500 -> all routes traversing em0 do not change MTU.
However, if ip[6]_output finds route with rt_mtu > interface mtu, rt_mtu
gets updated.
New behavior:
ifconfig em0 mtu 1500->9000 -> all interface routes in all fibs gets updated
with new MTU unless RTF_FIXEDMTU flag set on them.

We used to invalidate the cache for PREREAD alone, or writeback+invalidate
for PREREAD with PREWRITE, then treat POSTREAD as a no-op. Prefetching on
modern systems can lead to parts of a DMA buffer getting pulled into the
caches while DMA is in progress (due to access of "nearby" data), so it's
mandatory to invalidate during the POSTREAD sync even if a PREREAD
invalidate also happened.
In the PREREAD case the invalidate is done to ensure that there are no
dirty cache lines that might get automatically evicted during the DMA,
corrupting the buffer. In a PREREAD+PREWRITE case the writeback which is
required for PREWRITE handling is suffficient to avoid corruption caused
by eviction and no invalidate need be done until POSTREAD time.

The PREWRITE handling does a writeback of any dirty cachelines, so there's
no danger of an eviction during the DMA corrupting the buffer. There will
be an invalidate done during POSTREAD, so doing it before the read too is
wasted time.
Due to adapter->hw.fc.requested_mode is filled with default value
after ixgbe_initialize_receive_units(), this leads to enabling
DROP_EN in most cases.

This significantly reduces lock contention when adding/removing knotes
on busy multi-kq system... Next step is to cache these references per
kq.. i.e. kq refs it once and keeps a local ref count so that the same
refs don't get accessed by many cpus...
only allocate a knote when we might use it...
Add a new flag, _FORCEONESHOT.. This allows a thread to force the
delivery of another event in a safe manner, say waking up an idle http
connection to force it to be reaped...
If we are _DISABLE'ing a knote, don't bother to call f_event on it, it's
disabled, so won't be delivered anyways..

on i386 PAE. Previously, VM_PHYSSEG_SPARSE could not be used on amd64 and
i386 because vm_page_startup() would not create vm_page structures for the
kernel page table pages allocated during pmap_bootstrap() but those vm_page
structures are needed when the kernel attempts to promote the corresponding
kernel virtual addresses to superpage mappings. To address this problem, a
new public function, vm_phys_add_seg(), is introduced and vm_phys_init() is
updated to reflect the creation of vm_phys_seg structures by calls to
vm_phys_add_seg().

leave a port permanently disabled when a copper cable is unplugged and
then plugged right back in.
lacp_linkstate goes looking for the current ifmedia on a link state
change and it could get stale information from cxgbe(4) on a module
unplug followed by replug. The fix is to process module events before
link-state events within the driver, and to always rebuild the ifmedia
list on a module change event (instead of rebuilding it lazily).

I originally overlooked a couple flag bits defined in the fdt binding docs.
One flag suppresses the pad configuration (pullup/pulldown/etc). The other
one requires that the SION (set input on) flag be set in the mux register.
Also, it appears from the data involved that if the input register
address in the config tuple is zero, there is no input configuration. The
old code was writing to register zero, which contains a collection of misc
control bits (having nothing to do with input configuration) that probably
shouldn't get overwritten arbitrarily. The bindings doc doesn't explictly
mention this.

When the old code could not do the proper card detection it would boot with
lower defaults (and no HS mode) and this makes some HS cards boots.
Now, with the card always identified as HS capable, the sdhci controller
tries to run the card at HS speeds and makes the boot always fail.
Disable the HS mode for now (which still can be enabled with the tunable)
until it is properly fixed.

The various structures in the mod_metadata set of a FreeBSD kernel and
modules contain pointers. The FreeBSD loader correctly deals with a
mismatch in loader and kernel pointer size (e.g. 32-bit i386/ppc
loader, loading 64-bit amd64/ppc64 kernels), but wasn't dealing with
the inverse case where a 64-bit loader was loading a 32-bit kernel.

This was a snafu introduced in the ACPI/PCI awareness separation.
When putting a device into a power state, the bus (and thus firmware,
eg ACPI) should be asked before hand to check whether the device
can indeed go into that power state.
There's a set of nodes in ACPI under each device - the _SxD nodes - which
state which ACPI power state to put the device into when the system is
going into power save state 'x'. So when going into S3, the existence
of an _S3D node would override whatever the system was trying to do.
By default the PCI code wants to put devices into D3 before suspending.
I have a laptop here (Asus Zenbook - check the PR) whose EHCI controller
really wants to be in D2 during suspend, not D3. So if we put it into
D3 and then try to enter S3, everything hangs. The device itself
can go into D3 - it just can't be there when the call to ACPI to enter
S3 occurs. The PCI patch fixes this.
jkim@ noticed that the same is needed for the ACPI child device
enumeration.
Thankyou to Matt Dillon (the programmer, not the actor) for buying me
this particular laptop so I could debug the issues with the Atheros
AR9485 that is in it. It's his fault that I ended up with this
laptop and was sufficiently annoyed by the lack of USB suspend
to go down this rabbit hole.

In vt_efifb_init the framebuffer's physaddr is passed to PHYS_TO_DMAP
before the DMAP is setup. The result is not actually accessed until
after the mapping is setup, though. Loosen the assertion in PHYS_TO_DMAP
for now, to allow use when dmaplimit == 0.

IGP may declare subclass as either VGA-compatible, or non-VGA. The
difference is that in the later case, IGP does not claim VGA cycles.

to the given device. In theory it is a security issue as user might get access
to kernel's memory after provoking kernel crash, but in practise it is not
recommended to give regular users direct access to storage devices.
Rework the code so that we do privileges check within the set_dumper() function
to avoid similar problems in the future.

Initially in_matrote() in_clsroute() in their current state was introduced by
r4105 20 years ago. Instead of deleting inactive routes immediately, we kept them
in route table, setting RTPRF_OURS flag and some expire time. After that, either
GC came or RTPRF_OURS got removed on first-packet. It was a good solution
in that days (and probably another decade after that) to keep TCP metrics.
However, after moving metrics to TCP hostcache in r122922, most of in_rmx
functionality became unused. It might had been used for flushing icmp-originated
routes before rte mutexes/refcounting, but I'm not sure about that.
So it looks like this is nearly impossible to make GC do its work nowadays:
in_rtkill() ignores non-RTPRF_OURS routes.
route can only become RTPRF_OURS after dropping last reference via rtfree()
which calls in_clsroute(), which, it turn, ignores UP and non-RTF_DYNAMIC routes.
Dynamic routes can still be installed via received redirect, but they
have default lifetime (no specific rt_expire) and no one has another trie walker
to call RTFREE() on them.
So, the changelist:
* remove custom rnh_match / rnh_close matching function.
* remove all GC functions
* partially revert r256695 (proto3 is no more used inside kernel,
it is not possible to use rt_expire from user point of view, proto3 support
is not complete)

people. The configurations where LRO is problematic is not the

determine ifaddr corresponding to destination address. Since currently

gcc requires variables to be initialised in two places. One of them
is correctly used only under the same conditional though.
For module builds properly check if the kernel supports INET or INET6,
as otherwise various mips kernels without IPv6 support would fail to build.
Create a proper stack frame for amd64 version of bcopy(). Note that
this also makes the stack properly aligned in the function, despite it
is not strictly needed.

- When the multiple port feature is not negotiated, query the
rows and columns of the one console during the device attach
when the size feature is negotiated.
- Report failure to the device if hot plugging a port fails.
- Acknowledge the console port event with an open event. This
is required by the spec, but QEMU doesn't seem to care.

It turns out an alignment of zero can lead to an endless loop in the
vm reservations code, so specifically disallow that. The manpage says
hardware which can do dma at any address should use a value of one, which
hints at the forbiddeness of zero without exactly saying it. Several
other conditions which could lead to insanity in working with the tag are
also checked now.
Every existing call to bus_dma_tag_create() (about 680 of them) was
eyeballed for violations of these things, and two alignment=0 glitches
were fixed. It's possible something was missed, but overall this
shouldn't lead to any arm users suddenly experiencing failures.
problems than it solves. SYSDIR is already defined almost always and
can be used instead. Working around the one case where it isn't is
much easier than working around the fact that @ may not exist in 18
other places.

Some virtual if drivers has (ab)used ifa ifa_rtrequest hook to enforce
route MTU to be not bigger that interface MTU. While ifa_rtrequest hooking
might be an option in some situation, it is not feasible to do MTU checks
there: generic (or per-domain) routing code is perfectly capable of doing
this.
We currrently have 3 places where MTU is altered:
1) route addition.
In this case domain overrides radix _addroute callback (in[6]_addroute)
and all necessary checks/fixes are/can be done there.
2) route change (especially, GW change).
In this case, there are no explicit per-domain calls, but one can
override rte by setting ifa_rtrequest hook to domain handler
(inet6 does this).
3) ifconfig ifaceX mtu YYYY
In this case, we have no callbacks, but ip[6]_output performes runtime
checks and decreases rt_mtu if necessary.
Generally, the goals are to be able to handle all MTU changes in
control plane, not in runtime part, and properly deal with increased
interface MTU.
This commit changes the following:
* removes hooks setting MTU from drivers side
* adds proper per-doman MTU checks for case 1)
* adds generic MTU check for case 2)
* The latter is done by using new dom_ifmtu callback since
if_mtu denotes L3 interface MTU, e.g. maximum trasmitted _packet_ size.
However, IPv6 mtu might be different from if_mtu one (e.g. default 1280)
for some cases, so we need an abstract way to know maximum MTU size
for given interface and domain.
* moves rt_setmetrics() before MTU/ifa_rtrequest hooks since it copies
user-supplied data which must be checked.
* removes RT_LOCK_ASSERT() from other ifa_rtrequest hooks to be able to
use this functions on new non-inserted rte.
