4436b51dff Integrate the tests from libxo into the FreeBSD test suite
The functional_test.sh harness for each test subdir was inspired
by the version in bin/sh/tests/functional_test.sh

Some gymnastics were required to deal with implicit rules for
.c / .o -> .out as the suffix transformation rules were
incorrectly trying to create the test outputs from some of the
source files

10d8d828d3 When stopping ugidfw, it is not enough to just try unloading the module. If
the module is built-in to the kernel then the kldunload will fail. Rather
than do this just check if there are rules and then remove them all.

Add requirement on FILESYSTEMS to ensure /usr is present for /usr/sbin/ugidfw
and /usr/bin/xargs. This was already effectively the ordering from rcorder(8).

ef4cd02bfa Enforce consistent limits of daemons run from rc.subr:
* Allow the user to configure the login class to use in rc.conf
  by using {daemon}_login_class, which;
* Use the daemon class by default;
* .. and then use 'limits' to set the login class so it works both
via init at startup (which runs this in 'daemon' class) and via
whichever root environment (eg command line, other daemons, etc.)

05117b57a5 Install kernel debug data under /usr/lib/debug
This avoids needing a large boot partition / file system in order to
accommodate multiple kernels, and provides consistency with userland
debug. This also simplifies the process of moving kernel debug files
to a separate package and installing them on demand.

In addition, change kernel debug file extension to .debug, to match
userland debug files.

When using the supported kernel installation method the
/usr/lib/debug/boot/kernel directory will be renamed (to kernel.old)
as is done with /boot/kernel.

Developers wishing to maintain the historical behavior of installing
debug files in /boot/kernel/ can set KERN_DEBUGDIR="" in src.conf(5).

7a79cebfba Replay r286410. Change KPI of how device drivers that provide wireless
connectivity interact with the net80211 stack.

Historical background: originally wireless devices created an interface,
just like Ethernet devices do. Name of an interface matched the name of
the driver that created. Later, wlan(4) layer was introduced, and the
wlanX interfaces become the actual interface, leaving original ones as
"a parent interface" of wlanX. Kernelwise, the KPI between net80211 layer
and a driver became a mix of methods that pass a pointer to struct ifnet
as identifier and methods that pass pointer to struct ieee80211com. From
user point of view, the parent interface just hangs on in the ifconfig
list, and user can't do anything useful with it.

Now, the struct ifnet goes away. The struct ieee80211com is the only
KPI between a device driver and net80211. Details:

- The struct ieee80211com is embedded into drivers softc.
- Packets are sent via new ic_transmit method, which is very much like
  the previous if_transmit.
- Bringing parent up/down is done via new ic_parent method, which notifies
driver about any changes: number of wlan(4) interfaces, number of them
  in promisc or allmulti state.
- Device specific ioctls (if any) are received on new ic_ioctl method.
- Packets/errors accounting are done by the stack. In certain cases, when
driver experiences errors and can not attribute them to any specific
interface, driver updates ic_oerrors or ic_ierrors counters.

Details on interface configuration with new world order:
- A sequence of commands needed to bring up wireless DOESN"T change.
- /etc/rc.conf parameters DON'T change.
- List of devices that can be used to create wlan(4) interfaces is
  now provided by net.wlan.devices sysctl.

Most drivers in this change were converted by me, except of wpi(4),
that was done by Andriy Voskoboinyk. Big thanks to Kevin Lo for testing
changes to at least 8 drivers. Thanks to pluknet@, Oliver Hartmann,
Olivier Cochard, gjb@, mmoll@, op@ and lev@, who also participated in
testing.

https://wiki.freebsd.org/projects/ifnet/net80211

Still, drivers: ndis, wtap, mwl, ipw, bwn, wi, upgt, uath were not
tested. Changes to mwl, ipw, bwn, wi, upgt are trivial and chances
of problems are low. The wtap wasn't compilable even before this change.
But the ndis driver is complex, and it is likely to be broken with this
commit. Help with testing and debugging it is appreciated.

c048a83f51 Replace GNU RCS ident with a BSD license ident
Rationale: ident(1) is useful out of RCS, lot of scripts are using ident(1) and
failing when base is built WITHOUT_RCS.

This version is:
- fully compatible with RCS 5.7 ident.
- fully compatible with RCS 5.9 ident.
- passes all ident test from GNU RCS 5.9 test suite

This version has support for: svn extension for the Keyword id (double colon and
# before last $)

Différences with GNU RCS ident:
- no long options as found in GNU RCS 5.9 (but not commented there).
- '-V' reports nothing but has been added for compatibility.

7afb8adff3 Move all test integration pieces for etc/ from etc/ to tests/
This is being done to fix breakage with make distribution with read-only
source trees as make distribution doesn't use make obj like building
tests/ does in all cases

88feae84be Merge ^/projects/release-arm-redux into ^/head.
Of note:

- This commit adds native FreeBSD/arm release build support without
  requiring out-of-tree utilities.

- Part of this merge removes the WANDBOARD-{SOLO,DUAL,QUAD} kernel
configuration files, for which the IMX6 kernel configuration file
  should be used instead.

- The resulting images have a 'freebsd' user (password 'freebsd'),
to allow ssh(1) access when console access is not available (VGA
or serial). The default 'root' user password is set to 'root'.

- The /etc/ttys file for arm images now enable both ttyv0 and ttyu0
  by default.

5551c57355 Rework PRIVATELIB
Now when a lib is marked as PRIVATELIB it is renamed into libprivate$foo instead
of being installed in /usr/lib/private and playing with rpath.

Also allow to install headers for PRIVATELIBS in that case the headers will be
installed in /usr/include/private/$foo

Keep the headers under a private namespace to prevent third party build system
to easily find them to ensure they are only used on purpose.

This allows for non base applications to statically link against a library in
base which is linked to a privatelib

Treating PRIVATELIBS as regular libraries allows to push them into our current
compatX packages if needed.

While here finish promotion of libevent as PRIVATELIB
Install header for bsdstat and libucl

361fffd228 Require "ldconfig" for "devd". It is possible that user puts into
devd.conf execution of third-party software, that needs libraries
from /usr/local. Since devd is launched before ldconfig script, if
the hardware that has associated software is attached on boot, then
execution would fail.

709c1a78cf Drop the default for performance_cx_lowest (ie, what to use when AC is connected) to ACPI C2.
ACPI C3 ends up doing a lot more work before entering sleep, some of which
requires grabbing a global ACPI hardware serialising mutex.

Because of this, the more CPU cores you have, the more that lock contends
under load, reaching close to the #1 lock contention (after VM, which is being
worked on.)

42484f6f69 Move tests/sys/kern/mmap_test to tests/sys/vm/mmap_test

sys/kern/, so the correct logical place is tests/sys/vm/, not
tests/sys/kern/

772e66a6fc Move ALTQ from contrib to net/altq. The ALTQ code is for many years
discontinued by its initial authors. In FreeBSD the code was already
slightly edited during the pf(4) SMP project. It is about to be edited
more in the projects/ifnet. Moving out of contrib also allows to remove
several hacks to the make glue.
