f0a6ab51e6 src.libnames.mk: Include dependencies when bootstrapping from non-FreeBSD
When bootstrapping on FreeBSD we use -DNO_SHARED so this case is already
handled correctly, but on non-FreeBSD we set NO_SHARED to no in
Makefile.boot.pre as not all OSes have static libraries available. As a
result, users of libdwarf fail to link during the cross tools stage due
to the newly-introduced dependency of libdwarf on libz.

This should perhaps be reworked to instead leave NO_SHARED as yes but
have an override (either implicit in bsd.prog.mk, or explicit via a new
variable) to turn off just the use of -static.

ed4050750c src.libnames.mk: Add hack to workaround libarchive not being bootstrapped
We don't currently honour _DP_foo when bootstrapping on non-FreeBSD, and
so none of these values matter, but the next commit will change that as
we do need to pull in dependencies for libdwarf. We should really be
bootstrapping our libarchive for ar anyway rather than using the host's,
as well as have a better way to communicate to src.libnames.mk whether
or not a library is being bootstrapped.

dbf05458e3 libdwarf: Support consumption of compressed ELF sections
Automatically decompress zlib-compressed debug sections when loading
them.  This lets ctfcovert work on userland code after commit
c910570e75 ("Use compressed debug in standalone userland debug files
by default").

37d0601f42 bsddialog: import new TUI widget and utility
bsddialog is an attempt to write in permissive license a replacement for
libdialog.

While it is still in early stage it is good enough to already be used in
many areas, it is imported as private lib until it matures enough to be
considered as having a stable ABI

9e9c651cac cddl: fix missing ZFS library dependencies
In 9fae47666 zfsd got a libspl dependency to avoid undefined references.
However that workaround did not help external consumers of libzfs_core.

Fix all missing dependencies lld 13 and the rtld complain about.

7b1e19ad78 Add libfido2 to the build
From https://github.com/Yubico/libfido2:

    libfido2 provides library functionality and command-line tools to
    communicate with a FIDO device over USB, and to verify attestation
    and assertion signatures.

    libfido2 supports the FIDO U2F (CTAP 1) and FIDO 2.0 (CTAP 2)
    protocols.

libfido2 will be used by ssh to support FIDO/U2F keys. It is currently
intended only for use by ssh, and so is installed as a PRIVATELIB and is
placed in the ssh pkgbase package.

This is currently disabled for the 32-bit library build as libfido2 is
not compatible with the COMPAT_32BIT hack in usb_ioctl.h.

2e85df652c Add libcbor to the build
From https://github.com/PJK/libcbor:

    libcbor is a C library for parsing and generating CBOR, the general-
    purpose schema-less binary data format.

libcbor will be used by ssh to support FIDO/U2F keys.  It is currently
intended only for use by ssh, and so is installed as a PRIVATELIB and is
placed in the ssh pkgbase package.

cbor_export.h and configuration.h were generated by the upstream CMake
build.  We could create them with bmake rules instead (as NetBSD has
done) but this is a fine start.

This is currently disabled for the 32-bit library build as libfido2 is
not compatible with the COMPAT_32BIT hack in usb_ioctl.h, and there is
no need for libcbor without libfido2.

9294a2c719 ncurses: convert libncursesw.a into a static ldscript
Introduce the notion of static linker scripts to allow libncursesw.a to
track its dependency on libtinfow.a

this allows the build of older freebsd source tree to happen and make
static linking in part with dynamic linking which already provides a
ldscript

This fixes a bootstrapping FreeBSD 12 or 13 on recent FreeBSD 14

396851c20a ncurses: split libtinfo from libncurses
many external program expects libncurses to not be provided as a single
library. Instead of fixing all ports, distribute ncurses the way
upstream distributes it

Turn libncursesw.so into a ldscript which will link automatically as
needed to libtinfow so so this change is seamless at compile time.

45feade38e Add -Wno-error=unused-but-set-variable when building with Clang 13+
This warning triggers many times while building world. Downgrade it to a
warning until all occurrences have been fixed. Once the Clang warnings
have been fixed we should be able to turn it on for GCC as well. See
also f4fed768bb which did the same for the
kernel builds.

7c0226cad3 bsd.lib.mk: add conditions for building _pie.a archives
As with other .a targets, build _pie.a archives only if LIB is set.

At present we build _pie.a only for INTERNALLIBs, and none of them
include bsd.lib.mk without setting LIB.  However, we might want to build
_pie.a for non-INTERNALLIBs in the future.

021385aba5 Add WITH_LLVM_BINUTILS to install LLVM binutils instead of Elftoolchain
When WITH_LLVM_BINUTILS is set, we will install the LLVM binutils as
ar/ranlib/nm/objcopy/etc. instead of the elftoolchain ones.
Having the LLVM binutils instead of the elftoolchain ones allows us to use
features such as LTO that depend on binutils that understand LLVM IR.
Another benefit will be an improved user-experience when compiling with
AddressSanitizer, since ASAN does not symbolize backtraces correctly if
addr2line is elftoolchain addr2line instead of llvm-symbolizer.

22b8ab15c4 Remove -simplifycfg-dup-ret from CLANG_OPT_SMALL flags for clang 13
After llvm/clang 13.0.0, the -simplifycfg-dup-ret backend flag is no
longer supported. This was part of CLANG_OPT_SMALL, which is only still
used for stand/i386/boot2 and stand/i386/isoboot, to achieve the very
small binary size required. Luckily clang 13.0.0 does not need any
additional flags for this (I get 240 bytes available when building
boot2).

c8edd05426 clang: Support building with GCC and DEBUG_FILES disabled
If MK_DEBUG_FILES=no then the Clang link rule has clang as .TARGET,
rather than clang.full, causing the implicit ${CFLAGS.${.TARGET:T}} to
be CFLAGS.clang, and thus pull in flags intended for when your compiler
is Clang, not when linking Clang itself. This doesn't matter if your
compiler is in fact Clang, but it breaks using GCC as, for example,
bsd.sys.mk adds -Qunused-arguments to CFLAGS.clang. This is seen when
trying to build a bootstrap toolchain on Linux where GCC is the system
compiler.

Thus, introduce a new internal NO_TARGET_FLAGS variable that is set by
Clang to disable the addition of these implicit flags. This is a bigger
hammer than necessary, as flags for .o files would be safe, but that is
not needed for Clang.

Note that the same problem does not arise for LDFLAGS when building LLD
with BFD, since our build produces a program called ld.lld, not plain
lld (unlike upstream, where ld.lld is a symlink to lld so they can
support multiple different flavours in one binary).

cef65082ae bsd.compiler.mk: Fix cross-building from non-FreeBSD
On non-FreeBSD, the various MACHINE variables for the host when
bootstrapping can be missing or not match FreeBSD's naming, causing
bsd.endian.mk to be unable to infer the endianness. Work around this by
assuming it's unsupported.

Note that we can't check BOOTSTRAPPING here as Makefile.inc1 includes
bsd.compiler.mk before that is set, and so we are unable to catch errors
during buildworld itself when cross-building and bsd.endian.mk failed,
but such errors should also show up when building on FreeBSD.

47363e99d3 Enable compressed debug on little-endian targets
Compressed debug was enabled by default in commit c910570e75, but
broke the build on big-endian targets, and so was disabled in
89ed2ecb14.

Older versions of LLD fail with big-endian compressed debug sections.
This was fixed in LLD upstream (commit c6ebc651b6fa) and merged to
FreeBSD main (commit d69d07569e) by dim.

External toolchains (e.g. the llvm12 package) will not yet have the fix.
These may be used to link against base system .a archives, so compressed
debug sections would cause trouble even though the base system is fixed.

Enable compressed debug sections again, for little-endian targets only.
As discussed on freebsd-hackers[1] I expect to undo this in the future
(using compressed debug everywhere), once fixed versions of lld are
widely available.

Note that to be pedantically correct we should check both the compiler
and the linker for compressed debug support, but given the external
toolchain constraint the extra complexity does not seem worthwhile.

fe52b7f60e Disable PROFILE option by default
Hardware based profiling (e.g. hwpmc) is much better and produces more
useful results.  Today the profiling lib archives (_p.a) serve no real
purpose other than increasing the library build time.

Both upstream and base system (in commit b762974cf4) Clang have been
modified to remove the special case for linking against these libraries.

Clang's -pg support and mcount() remain, so building with -pg can still
be used on code that the user builds; we just no longer provide prebuilt
libraries compiled with -pg.

Discussed on freebsd-hackers[1] / freebsd-current [2] in 2020 and
freebsd-arch [3] in 2021.  A deprecation notice was added in
commit 175841285e.

c910570e75 Use compressed debug in standalone userland debug files by default
The compiler supports CFLAGS=-gz=zlib to compress .debug sections in
object files, libraries, and binaries.  Enable it to reduce disk usage
for standalone debug files (and /usr/obj).

1b8db4b4e3 arm: enable stack-smashing protection
With current generation clang/llvm it can pass all of our tests in
libc/ssp.

While here, remove the extra MACHINE_CPUARCH check for mips. SSP is
included in BROKEN_OPTIONS for this architecture in src.opts.mk, which
is enough to ensure normal builds won't set SSP_CFLAGS.

428a32edba Use .sinclude for bsd.sanitizer.mk
We don't install this file since MK_ASAN/MK_UBSAN is only supported for
src builds. However, some ports also use bsd.lib.mk/bsd.prog.mk so we
should not fail the build if it can't be included.

31ba4ce889 Allow bootstrapping llvm-tblgen on macOS and Linux

7bc797e3f3 Add build system support for ASAN+UBSAN instrumentation
This adds two new options WITH_ASAN/WITH_UBSAN that can be set to
enable instrumentation of all binaries with AddressSanitizer and/or
UndefinedBehaviourSanitizer. This current patch is almost sufficient
to get a complete buildworld with sanitizer instrumentation but in
order to actually build and boot a system it depends on a few more
follow-up commits.

f8147dad44 bsd.linker.mk: Detect LLD when built with PACKAGE_VENDOR
Recent versions of homebrew's LLD are built with PACKAGE_VENDOR (since
e7c972b606).
This means that the -v output is now
`Homebrew LLD 12.0.1 (compatible with GNU linkers)` and bsd.linker.mk no
longer detects it as LLD since it only checks whether the first word is
LLD. This change allow me to build on macOS again and should unbreak the
GitHub actions CI.

2eb9ad4274 Simplify and speed up the kyua build
Instead of having multiple kyua libraries, just include the files as part
of usr.bin/kyua. Previously, we would build each kyua source up to four
times: once as a .o file and once as a .pieo. Additionally, the kyua
libraries might be built again for compat32. As all the kyua libraries
amount to 102 C++ sources the build time is significant (especially when
using an assertions enabled compiler). This change ensures that we build
306 fewer .cpp source files as part of buildworld.

ab0c68ba4a Emit an error when we seen absolute paths to .o files
This is usually an error caused by using an absolute path in SRCS. This
happened to me in 83c20b8a2d due to changing LDADD to SRCS.
I did not notice that this had created a .o file inside the source tree
since .gitignore contains "*.o" and therefore git did not report any
changes.

Adding this warning message to bsd.lib.mk/bsd.prog.mk should prevent
issues like this in the future.

There was exactly one case of an absolute OBJS path in the current source
tree but that was removed in e713d3a013.

f4d987cd13 mk: WITH_FOO=no now generates a warning
Many people are used to gnu configure's behavior of changing
--with-foo=no to --without-foo. At the same time, several folks have
WITH_FOO=no in their config files to enable this ironic form of the
option because of an old meme from IRC, a mailing list or the forums (I
forget which). Add a warning to allow to alert people w/o breaking POLA.

25ecdc7d52 wpa: Restructure wpa build
The current WPA build assumes a flat namespace. However the latest sources
from w1.fi now have a duplicate config.c, in two separate subdirectories.
The flat namespace will overwrite config.o with the output from the most
recently modified config.c, of which there are two of them.

This commit resolves this problem by building each component in
wpa's src subdirectory tree into its own .a archive, just as the w1.fi
upstream build as used by the port does. The advantages of this approach
are:

1. Duplicate source file names, i.e. config.c in the wpa_supplicant
   direcory and another config.c in src/utils in the next wpa
   will result in both compiles writing to the same .o file.

2. This restructure simplifies maintanence. A develper needs only to add
   new files as identified by git status in the vendor branch to the
   appropriate Makefile within the usr.sbin/wpa tree. This also reduces
   time required to prepare a new import and should reduce error.

3. The new wpa build structure more closely represents the build as
   performed by the upstream tarball.

This is in preparation for the next wpa update from w1.fi.

ba1182e263 bsd.compiler.mk: detect Apple Clang for cross-builds
Apple clang uses a different versioning scheme, so if we enable or
disable certain warnings for Clang 11+, those might not be supported
in Apple Clang 11+. This adds 'apple-clang' to COMPILER_FEATURES, so that
bootstrap tools Makefiles can avoid warnings on macOS.

c8c62548bf Don't add -Winline for WARNS=6
This warning is very rarely useful (inline is a hint and not mandatory).
This flag results in many warnings being printed when compiling C++
code that uses the standard library with GCC.

This flag was originally added in back in r94332 but the flag is a no-op
in Clang ("This diagnostic flag exists for GCC compatibility, and has no
effect in Clang"). Removing it should make the GCC build output slightly
more readable.

c7e6cb9e08 pkgbase: Add an src.conf option for splitting man pages
Man pages can be big in total, add an options to split man pages
in -man packages so we produce smaller packages.
This is useful for small jails or mfsroot produced of pkgbase.

172a624f0c Silence annoying and incorrect non-default linker warning with GCC
The CROSS_TOOLCHAIN GCC .mk files include -B${CROSS_BINUTILS_PREFIX}, so

61f66a1f44 ncurses: Add support for terminfo database
Along with the termcap database, ncurses will now lookup for the
terminfo database, note that the terminfo database is being looked
up first and then it fallsback on the termcap one.

While here drop our custom reader for the termcap database, over the
time it is needed maintenance to be able to catchup with changes on ncurses
side.

Install the ncurses tools which are needed to deal with the terminfo
database: tic, infocmp, toe

Replace our termcap only aware tools with the ncurses counterpart:
tput, tabs, tset, clear and reset

In particular they can your the extra capabilities described in the
terminfo database, which does not exist in termcap

Note that to add a new terminfo information to the database from ports
the ports will just need to add their extra information into:
/usr/local/share/site-terminfo/<firstletteroftheterm>/<term>

9a227a2fd6 Enable PIE by default on 64-bit architectures
This patch adds Position Independent Executables (PIE)
flags for building OS. It allows to enable the ASLR
feature based only on the sysctl knobs, without
need to rebuild the image. Tests showed that
no problems with stability / performance degradation
were seen when using PIEs with ASLR disabled.

The change is limited only for 64-bit architectures.

Use bsd.opts.mk instead of the src.opts.mk in order
to satisfy all build dependencies related to MK_PIE.

d616ae46b4 Add fileprefixmap compiler feature
-ffile-prefix-map=<old>=<new> is a compiler feature first added in
GCC 8, and implemented for clang 10. It remaps old paths to new paths
in both debug information and __FILE__ and __BASE_FILE__ macros. It can
be used to improve reproducibility or to hide local system directories.

I intend to use it to replace the real source directory and real object
directory with constant values across all builds.

c975494ad7 build: turn off FMTREE by default to prepare for removal
nmtree is derived from fmtree, and has been the default mtree(8) since
6adfbbbf16, a little over a year after its introduction.

fmtree has not seen any substantial work since then, except for build
fixes and runtime issues that were diagnosed in nmtree and backported
because this was still in the tree.

Turn it off by default.

9c6954329a bsd.compiler.mk: Detect distribution-provided GCC when executed as cc
Clang always prints "clang $VERSION" regardless of the name used to
execute it, whereas GCC prints "$progname $VERSION", meaning if CC is
set to cc and cc is GCC it will print "cc $VERSION". We are able to
detect some of those cases since it then prints "($PKGVERSION)", where
the default is "GCC", but many distributions override that to print
their name and the package version number (e.g. "Debian 10.2.1-6"), so
nothing tells us it's GCC other than the fact that it's not Clang (and
that there's an FSF copyright disclaimer).

However, GCC's -v option will always print "gcc version $VERSION", so
fall back on using that to detect GCC. Whilst Clang also supports this
option, we should never get here, so Clang handling is not added.

aa906e2a49 OpenSSL: Support for kernel TLS offload (KTLS)
This merges upstream patches from OpenSSL's master branch to add
KTLS infrastructure for TLS 1.0-1.3 including both RX and TX
offload and SSL_sendfile support on both Linux and FreeBSD.

Note that TLS 1.3 only supports TX offload.

A new WITH/WITHOUT_OPENSSL_KTLS determines if OpenSSL is built with
KTLS support.  It defaults to enabled on amd64 and disabled on all
other architectures.

123ae3045d build: remove LIBPTHREAD/LIBTHR build options
WITHOUT_LIBTHR has been broken for a little over five years now, since the
xz 5.2.0 update introduced a hard liblzma dependency on libthr, and building
a useful system without threading support is becoming increasingly more
difficult.

Additionally, in the five plus years that it's been broken more reverse
dependencies have cropped up in libzstd, libsqlite3, and libcrypto (among
others) that make it more and more difficult to reconcile the effort needed
to fix these options.

Remove the broken options.

986deea5b5 build: make check: use a PATH search instead for Kyua
which(1) accepts both relative/absolute paths as well as lone binary
names.  Set KYUA to kyua and use which(1) to confirm that it can find one;
if it cannot, just advise the user to set KYUA directly to the kyua binary
rather than assuming a relative location from LOCALBASE.

This allows `make check` to be operated with the version of kyua in base
without losing the flexibility of specifying another one.

ngie@ notes that the original intention was to avoid redundant $PATH lookups
and improve the determinism of the target. A future change will likely push
us back to this state, perhaps in the form of reverting this entirely and
just switching to using kyua in base. Accepting any in $PATH should be
considered a transitional move, at least until it's declared otherwise,
since kyua was only semi-recently added to base.

7c5a624afa [wpa] Add support for hostapd/wpa_supplicant when WITHOUT_CRYPT=YES
is enabled.

This builds wpa_supplicant / hostpad using internal encryption routines
rather than using libcrypt.

This has been supported in wpa for years now, however since we use
local makefiles for this, we bitrotted dependencies and configuration
options.

556fcdce5b bsd.compat.mk: Allow finding non-internal libraries
Currently only libexec/rtld-elf32 uses internal LIBC_NOSSP_PIC during
the build but it gets it directly from the objdir rather than a sysroot.
For example, /usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/obj-lib32/lib/libc/libc_nossp_pic.a.
We don't stage lib32 libraries in WORLDTMP/usr/lib32 and doing so doesn't
buy much.  If we want to use a staged lib32 library then we need to look in
LIBCOMPATTMP where they were staged.  For example if LIBC_PIC were wanted then
look for /usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/obj-lib32/tmp/usr/lib32/libc_pic.a.

Only keep the widechar version of ncurses as libncursesw.so.9

Keep the old name to avoid breaking the ABI compatibility (the non
widechar version libncurses.so.9 is not binary compatible with
libncursesw.so.9) since all ports and base are already only linking
against the widechar version we can simply remove libncurses.so.9

Since the .9 version only lived in the dev branch and never ended in a
release, it is simply removed and not added to any binary compat
package.

Add symlinks to keep build time compatibility for anyone linking against
-lncurses

bee11ec258 Default to WITHOUT_GDB (GDB 6.1.1) for FreeBSD 13
As discussed on -current, -stable, -toolchain, and with jhb@ and imp@,
disable the obsolete in-tree GDB 6.1.1 by default.  This was kept only
to provide kgdb for the crashinfo tool, but is long-obsolete, does not
support all architectures that FreeBSD does, and held back other work
(such as forcing the use of DWARF2 for kernel debug).

Crashinfo will use kgdb from the gdb package or devel/gdb port, and will
privde a message referencing those if no kgdb is found.

b82a9ec5f5 src.opts.mk: switch to bsdgrep as /usr/bin/grep
This has been years in the making, and we all knew it was bound to happen
some day. Switch to the BSDL grep implementation now that it's been a
little more thoroughly tested and theoretically supports all of the
extensions that gnugrep in base had with our libregex(3).

Folks shouldn't really notice much from this update; bsdgrep is slower than
gnugrep, but this is currently the price to pay for fewer bugs. Those
dissatisfied with the speed of grep and in need of a faster implementation
should check out what textproc/ripgrep and textproc/the_silver_searcher
can do for them.

I have some WIP to make bsdgrep faster, but do not consider it a blocker
when compared to the pros of switching now (aforementioned bugs, licensing).

dabbf11f97 bsd.lib.mk: Work around build system raciness
We are seeing regular build failures due to libc.so being installed again and
another parallel make job tries to read the partially written libc.so at the
same time. When building with -j32 or higher this almost always happens on
the first clean build (subsequent incremental builds always work fine).
Using -S should "fix" the "section header table goes past the end of the
file: e_shoff = 0x..." errors that have started to plague our builds.

We originally thought this only affected CheriBSD, but I just got the same
error while building the latest upstream FreeBSD.

The real fix should be to not install libraries twice, but until then this
workaround is needed.

9a4d64029e Fix make makeman after r367577
WITH_INIT_ALL_ZERO and WITH_INIT_ALL_PATTERN are mutually exclusive.
The .error when they were both set broke makeman so demote it to a
warning (and presumably the compiler will fail on an error later on).

We could improve this to make one take precedence but this is sufficient
for now.

e268fd0a02 Support initializing stack variables on function entry
There are two options:
 - WITH_INIT_ALL_ZERO: Zero all variables on the stack.
 - WITH_INIT_ALL_PATTERN: Initialize variables with well-defined patterns.

The exact pattern are a compiler implementation detail and vary by type.
They are somewhat documented in the LLVM commit message:

I've used WITH_INIT_ALL_* to match Microsoft's InitAll feature rather
than naming them after the LLVM specific compiler flags.

In a range of consumer products, options like these are used in
both debug and production builds with debugs builds using patterns
(intended to provoke crashes on use of uninitialized values) and

9fa94e1c09 Turn on WITH_LLVM_CXXFILT by default
LLVM's demangler supports more modern C++ constructs such as lambdas and
unnamed types, and is actively maintained. The command line tool is
usable as a drop-in replacement for GNU c++filt, or elftoolchain's
cxxfilt. The latter is still available by using WITHOUT_LLVM_CXXFILT, if
needed.

07bab4417d Add WITH_LLVM_CXXFILT option to install llvm-cxxfilt as c++filt
Since elftoolchain's cxxfilt is rather far behind on features, and we
ran into several bugs, add an option to use llvm-cxxfilt as an drop-in
replacement.

It supports the same options as elftoolchain cxxfilt, though it doesn't
have support for old ARM (C++ Annotated Reference Manual, not the CPU)
and GNU v2 manglings. But these are irrelevant in 2020.

Note: as we already compile the required libraries as part of libllvm,
this will not add any significant build time either.

2cef3afd7b Stop using -O instead of -O2 for MIPS
Until clang 11 that was equivalent to -O2, but clang changed it to -O1 so
generated MIPS code will now be unnecessarily slow. It also removes a weird
special case from sys.mk.
This is similar to the D26471 change for debug kernels and should not change
anything since everything was previously building MIPS code at -O2 until the
clang 11 update.

e307eb94ae loader: zfs should support bootonce an nextboot
bootonce feature is temporary, one time boot, activated by
"bectl activate -t BE", "bectl activate -T BE" will reset the bootonce flag.

By default, the bootonce setting is reset on attempt to boot and the next
boot will use previously active BE.

By setting zfs_bootonce_activate="YES" in rc.conf, the bootonce BE will
be set permanently active.

bootonce dataset name is recorded in boot pool labels, bootenv area.

in case of nextboot, the nextboot_enable boolean variable is recorded in
freebsd:nvstore nvlist, also stored in boot pool label bootenv area.
On boot, the loader will process /boot/nextboot.conf if nextboot_enable
is "YES", and will set nextboot_enable to "NO", preventing /boot/nextboot.conf
processing on next boot.

bootonce and nextboot features are usable in both UEFI and BIOS boot.

To use bootonce/nextboot features, the boot loader needs to be updated on disk;
if loader.efi is stored on ESP, then ESP needs to be updated and
for BIOS boot, stage2 (zfsboot or gptzfsboot) needs to be updated
(gpart or other tools).

At this time, only lua loader is updated.

7afab8a67e Install library symlinks atomically.
As we do for shared library binaries, pass -S to install(1) when
installing symlinks.  Doing so helps avoid transient failures when
libraries are being reinstalled, which seems to be the root cause of
spurious libgcc_s.so link failures during CI builds.

fe815331bb build: provide a default WARNS for all in-tree builds
The current default is provided in various Makefile.inc in some top-level
directories and covers a good portion of the tree, but doesn't cover parts
of the build a little deeper (e.g. libcasper).

Provide a default in src.sys.mk and set WARNS to it in bsd.sys.mk if that
variable is defined. This lets us relatively cleanly provide a default WARNS
no matter where you're building in the src tree without breaking things
outside of the tree.

Crunchgen has been updated as a bootstrap tool to work on this change
because it needs r365605 at a minimum to succeed. The cleanup necessary to
successfully walk over this change on WITHOUT_CLEAN builds has been added.

There is a supplemental project to this to list all of the warnings that are
encountered when the environment has WARNS=6 NO_WERROR=yes:

0e1e341b48 Stop using lorder and ranlib when building libraries
Use of ranlib or lorder is no longer necessary with current linkers
(probably anything newer than ~1990) and ar's ability to create an object
index and symbol table in the archive.
Currently the build system uses lorder+tsort to sort the .o files in
dependency order so that a single-pass linker can use them. However,
we can use the -s flag to ar to add an index to the .a file which makes
lorder unnecessary.
Running ar -s is equivalent to running ranlib afterwards, so we can also
skip the ranlib invocation.

Similarly, we don't have to pass the .o files for shared libraries in
dependency order since both ld.bfd and ld.lld will correctly resolve
references between the .o files.

This removes many fork()+execve calls for each library so should speed up
builds a bit. Additionally lorder.sh uses a regular expression that is not
supported by the macOS libc or glibc and results in many warnings when
cross-building (see D25989).

There is one functional change: lorder.sh removed duplicated .o files
from the linker command line which now no longer happens. I fixed the duplicates
in the base system in r364649. I also checked the ports tree for uses of
bsd.lib.mk and found one duplicate source file which I fixed in r548168.
Most ports use CMake/autotools rather than bsd.lib.mk but if this breaks any
ports that I missed in my search please let me know.

Avoiding the shell script actually speeds up the linking step noticeably: I
measured how long it takes to rebuild the .a and .so files for lib/libc using a
basic benchmark: `rm $LIBC_OBJDIR/*.so* $LIBC_OBJDIR/*.a* && /usr/bin/time make -DWITHOUT_TESTS -s > /dev/null`
Without this change ~4.5 seconds and afterwards ~3.1 seconds.
Looking at truss -cf output we can see that the number fork() system
calls goes down from 27 to 12 (and the speedup while tracing is more
noticeable: 81 seconds -> 65 seconds).

archives now contain a symbol table (traditionally built by ranlib, now
generally built by ar itself), and the Unix linker uses the symbol table
to effectively make multiple passes over an archive file.

1d2a0dce33 [PowerPC] Remove obsolete MK_LOADER_FORCE_LE
In D12421, the ability to compile stand/ in little-endian was added, with the
intention to extend loader.kboot to run in Petitboot.

However, no further work was done, as the kernel then gained self-execution
capabilities as Petitboot was taught to load FreeBSD kernels directly.

The FreeBSD installer on powerpc64 (on POWER8 and POWER9) uses
/boot/etc/kboot.conf instead of loader.

As this option does nothing but cause stand/ to be miscompiled and actively
causes confusion, remove it.

(I have a functioning petitboot loader in my local tree, however, it turned
out to be quite inconvient to use due to the current petitboot plugin design
so I put it on hold.)

2a6803de1c Use MACHINE_CPUARCH when checking for arm64

on any 64-bit Arm instruction set. This will simplify checks in downstream
consumers targeting prototype instruction sets.

This allows use of the standard src.conf configuration for controlling
whether the tree is cleaned before build or not.  The default is still
to clean.

Setting either NOCLEAN or NO_CLEAN will mention the new src.conf option.

7d4374f65f Turn MALLOC_PRODUCTION into a regular src.conf(5) option
For historical reasons, defining MALLOC_PRODUCTION in /etc/make.conf has
been used to turn off potentially expensive debug checks and statistics
gathering in the implementation of malloc(3).

It seems more consistent to turn this into a regular src.conf(5) option,
e.g. WITH_MALLOC_PRODUCTION / WITHOUT_MALLOC_PRODUCTION. This can then
be toggled similar to any other source build option, and turned on or
off by default for e.g. stable branches.

5c4f8d801c lib: add libnetmap
This changeset introduces the new libnetmap library for writing
netmap applications.
Before libnetmap, applications could either use the kernel API
directly (e.g. NIOCREGIF/NIOCCTRL) or the simple header-only-library
netmap_user.h (e.g. nm_open(), nm_close(), nm_mmap() etc.)

The new library offers more functionalities than netmap_user.h:
  - Support for complex netmap options, such as external memory
    allocators or per-buffer offsets. This opens the way to future
    extensions.
  - More flexibility in the netmap port bind options, such as
    non-numeric names for pipes, or the ability to specify the netmap
    allocator that must be used for a given port.
  - Automatic tracking of the netmap memory regions in use across the
    open ports.

At the moment there is no man page, but the libnetmap.h header file
has in-depth documentation.

489377c0a4 Avoid recomputing COMPILER_/LINKER_ variables when set explicitly
I noticed that when we build libraries for a different ABI (in CheriBSD) we
were calling ${XCC}/${LD} --version for every directory. It turns out that
this was caused by bsd.compat.mk explicitly setting (X_)COMPILER variables
for that build stage and this stops the _can_export logic from working.
To fix this, we change the check to only set _can_export=no if the variable
is set and it is set to a different value than the cached value.
This noticeably speeds up the tree walk while building compat libraries.
During an upstream amd64 buildworld this also removes 8 --version calls.

2b6ee34cf6 Pass -fuse-ld=/path/to/ld if ${LD} != "ld"
This is needed so that setting LD/XLD is not ignored when linking with $CC
instead of directly using $LD. Currently only clang accepts an absolute
path for -fuse-ld= (Clang 12+ will add a new --ld-path flag), so we now
warn when building with GCC and $LD != "ld" since that might result in the
wrong linker being used.

We have been setting XLD=/path/to/cheri/ld.lld in CheriBSD for a long time and
used a similar version of this patch to avoid linking with /usr/bin/ld.
This change is also required when building FreeBSD on an Ubuntu with Clang:
In that case we set XCC=/usr/lib/llvm-10/bin/clang and since
/usr/lib/llvm-10/bin/ does not contain a "ld" binary the build fails with
`clang: error: unable to execute command: Executable "ld" doesn't exist!`
unless we pass -fuse-ld=/usr/lib/llvm-10/bin/ld.lld.

This change passes -fuse-ld instead of copying ${XLD} to WOLRDTMP/bin/ld
since then we would have to ensure that this file does not exist while
building the bootstrap tools. The cross-linker might not be compatible with
the host linker (e.g. when building on macos: host-linker= Mach-O /usr/bin/ld,
cross-linker=LLVM ld.lld).

9e5787d228 Merge OpenZFS support in to HEAD.
The primary benefit is maintaining a completely shared
code base with the community allowing FreeBSD to receive
new features sooner and with less effort.

I would advise against doing 'zpool upgrade'
or creating indispensable pools using new
features until this change has had a month+
to soak.

Work on merging FreeBSD support in to what was
at the time "ZFS on Linux" began in August 2018.
I first publicly proposed transitioning FreeBSD
to (new) OpenZFS on December 18th, 2018. FreeBSD
support in OpenZFS was finally completed in December
2019. A CFT for downstreaming OpenZFS support in
to FreeBSD was first issued on July 8th. All issues
that were reported have been addressed or, for
a couple of less critical matters there are
pull requests in progress with OpenZFS. iXsystems
has tested and dogfooded extensively internally.
The TrueNAS 12 release is based on OpenZFS with
some additional features that have not yet made
it upstream.

Improvements include:
  project quotas, encrypted datasets,
  allocation classes, vectorized raidz,
  vectorized checksums, various command line
  improvements, zstd compression.

1a18ab420b Allow overriding the tool used for stripping binaries
Since the make variable STRIP is already used for other purposes, this
uses STRIPBIN (which is also used for the same purpose by install(1).
This allows using LLVM objcopy to strip binaries instead of the in-tree
elftoolchain objcopy. We make use of this in CheriBSD since passing
binaries generated by our toolchain to elftoolchain strip sometimes results
in assertion failures.

2192efc03b RISC-V boot1.efi and loader.efi support
This implementation doesn't have any major deviations from the other EFI
ports. I've copied the boilerplate from arm and arm64.

I've tested this with the following boot flows:
OpenSBI (M-mode) -> u-boot (S-mode) -> loader.efi -> FreeBSD
OpenSBI (M-mode) -> u-boot (S-mode) -> boot1.efi -> loader.efi -> FreeBSD

Due to the way that u-boot handles secondary CPUs, OpenSBI >= v0.7 is required,
as the HSM extension is needed to bring them up explicitly. Because of this,
using BBL as the SBI implementation will not be possible. Additionally, there
are a few recent u-boot changes that are required as well, all of which will be
present in the upcoming v2020.07 release.

252884ae7e Import new 2-clause BSD licenced implementation of the bc and dc commands
These implementations of the bc and dc programs offer a number of advantages
compared to the current implementations in the FreeBSD base system:

- They do not depend on external large number functions (i.e. no dependency
  on OpenSSL or any other large number library)

- They implements all features found in GNU bc/dc (with the exception of
  the forking of sub-processes, which the author of this version considers
  as a security issue).

- They are significantly faster than the current code in base (more than
  2 orders of magnitude in some of my tests, e.g. for 12345^100000).

- They should be fully compatible with all features and the behavior of the
  current implementations in FreeBSD (not formally verified).

- They support POSIX message catalogs and come with localized messages in
  Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Japanese, Polish, Portugueze,
  and Russian.

- They offer very detailed man-pages that provide far more information than
  the current ones.

The upstream sources contain a large number of tests, which are not
imported with this commit. They could be integrated into our test
framework at a latter time.

Installation of this version is controlled by the option "MK_GH_BC=yes".
This option will be set to yes by default in 13-CURRENT, but will be off
by default in 12-STABLE.

c5ea81f7a6 rename in-tree libevent v1 to libevent1
r316063 installed pf's embedded libevent as a private lib, with headers
in /usr/include/private/event.  Unfortunately we also have a copy of
libevent v2 included in ntp, which needed to be updated for compatibility
with OpenSSL 1.1.

As unadorned 'libevent' generally refers to libevent v2, be explicit that
this one is libevent v1.

697b271da9 pkgbase: use -dev,-dbg instead of -development,-debug
-development is long and awkward, and is also inconsistent with prior art
from the Linux world, which uses -dev (Debian) or -devel (Red Hat).  Follow
the Debian convention, and similarly for debug info packages.

Also remove redundant pkgbase development tag from includes.  We already tag
include files with package=runtime,dev; there is no need to separately tag
them as dev.

483d953a86 Initial support for bhyve save and restore.
Save and restore (also known as suspend and resume) permits a snapshot
to be taken of a guest's state that can later be resumed.  In the
current implementation, bhyve(8) creates a UNIX domain socket that is
used by bhyvectl(8) to send a request to save a snapshot (and
optionally exit after the snapshot has been taken).  A snapshot
currently consists of two files: the first holds a copy of guest RAM,
and the second file holds other guest state such as vCPU register
values and device model state.

To resume a guest, bhyve(8) must be started with a matching pair of
command line arguments to instantiate the same set of device models as
well as a pointer to the saved snapshot.

While the current implementation is useful for several uses cases, it
has a few limitations.  The file format for saving the guest state is
tied to the ABI of internal bhyve structures and is not
self-describing (in that it does not communicate the set of device
models present in the system).  In addition, the state saved for some
device models closely matches the internal data structures which might
prove a challenge for compatibility of snapshot files across a range
of bhyve versions.  The file format also does not currently support
versioning of individual chunks of state.  As a result, the current
file format is not a fixed binary format and future revisions to save
and restore will break binary compatiblity of snapshot files.  The
goal is to move to a more flexible format that adds versioning,
etc. and at that point to commit to providing a reasonable level of
compatibility.  As a result, the current implementation is not enabled
by default.  It can be enabled via the WITH_BHYVE_SNAPSHOT=yes option
for userland builds, and the kernel option BHYVE_SHAPSHOT.

371f3da616 Remove the SYMVER build option.
This option was added as a transition aide when symbol versioning was
first added.  It was enabled by default in 2007 and is supported even
by the old GPLv2 binutils.  Trying to disable it currently fails to
build in libc and at this point it isn't worth fixing the build.

4574585e8f Conditionally install Kerberos rc files based on MK_KERBEROS_SCRIPTS

879ce458f4 userland build: replace -fno-common with ${CFCOMMONFLAG}
This change allows any downstream or otherwise consumer to easily override
the new -fno-common default on a temporary basis without having to hack into
src.sys.mk, and also makes it a bit easier to search for these specific
cases where -fno-common must be overridden with -fcommon or else the build
will fail.

The gdb build, the only program requiring -fcommon on head/, is switched
over as an example usage. It will need it on all branches, so this does not
harm future mergability.

8eb1a0ce56 Add -fno-common to all userland/kernel src builds
-fno-common will become the default in GCC10/LLVM11. Plenty of work has been
put in to make sure our world builds are no -fno-common clean, so let's slap
the build with this until it becomes the compiler default to ensure we don't
regress.

At this time, we will not be enforcing -fno-common on ports builds. I
suspect most ports will be or quickly become -fno-common clean as they're
naturally built against compilers that default to it, so this will hopefully
become a non-issue in due time. The exception to this, which is actually the
status quo, is that kmods built from ports will continue to build with
-fno-common.

As of the time of writing, I intend to also make stable/12 -fno-common
clean. What's been done will be MFC'd to stable/11 if it's easily applicable
and/or not much work to massage it into being functional, but I anticipate
adding -fcommon to stable/11 builds to maintain its ability to be built with
newer compilers for the rest of its lifetime instead of putting in a third
branch's worth of effort.

f382bac49b Fix compilation with upstream clang builtin headers.
By using -nobuiltininc and adding the clang builtin headers resource dir
to the end of the compiler header search path, we can still find headers
such as immintrin.h but find the FreeBSD version of stddef.h/stdarg.h/..
first.

This is a workaround until we are able to settle on and complete a plan
to harmonize guard macros with LLVM.  We've mostly worked out this on
FreeBSD systems by removing select headers from the installed set of
devel/llvm*, but that isn't a good solution for cross build.

147d7b567f llvm: add a build knob for enabling assertions
For head/, this will remain eternally default-on to maintain the status quo.
For stable/ branches, it should be flipped to default-off to maintain the
status quo.

There's value in being able to flip it one way or the other easily on head
or stable branches, whether you want to gain some performance back on head/
(for machines there's little chance you'll actually hit an assertion) or
potentially diagnose a problem with the version of llvm on an older branch.

Currently, stable branches get the CFLAGS+= -ndebug line uncommented; going
forward, they will instead have the default of LLVM_ASSERTIONS flipped.

a52b0bb1d2 drop GDB_LIBEXEC option (now always true)
In-tree gdb is essentially obsolete.  We kept it for sparc64 (because
gdb in ports lacked sparc64 support) and as a fallback for crashinfo.
gdb was installed to /libexec on all archs other than sparc64, where the
WITHOUT_GDB_LIBEXEC option was default, with gdb installed to /usr/bin.
With sparc64's retirement WITH_GDB_LIBEXEC became the default for all
architectures, but it was still possible to set it off and install gdb
into /usr/bin.

As the next step in gdb's retirement, remove the option and install gdb
only into /libexec as the crashinfo fallback. We expect users to install
the gdb port or package for debugging. The in-tree gdb lacks support for
a number of supported architectures and does not support contemporary
DWARF debug info.

d64b2df932 src.opts.mk: drop C++11 compiler conditional from OPENMP
We no longer support older C++ compilers, so do not need to explicitly
test for C++11 support.

After r339946 we stopped running `cc --version` during cleandir/obj
stages, so stopped setting COMPILER_FEATURES.  This in turn meant
lib/libomp was excluded from the clean stage in a normal buildworld
(i.e., one without -DNO_CLEAN), and this is what caused recent build
failures with errors about missing ittnotify_static.c.

This commit should obviate the need for the workaround committed in
r359083.  Thanks to bdrewery for the insight and for pushing for a
correct fix.  There are more cleanups to be done, but this change is
a simplification and an improvement over r359083.

afc571b1a6 veloader use vectx API for kernel and modules
The vectx API, computes the hash for verifying a file as it is read.
This avoids the overhead of reading files twice - once to verify, then
again to load.

For doing an install via loader, avoiding the need to rewind
large files is critical.

This API is only used for modules, kernel and mdimage as these are the
biggest files read by the loader.
The reduction in boot time depends on how expensive the I/O is
on any given platform.  On a fast VM we see 6% improvement.

For install via loader the first file to be verified is likely to be the
kernel, so some of the prep work (finding manifest etc) done by
verify_file() needs to be factored so it can be reused for
vectx_open().

For missing or unrecognized fingerprint entries, we fail
in vectx_open() unless verifying is disabled.

Otherwise fingerprint check happens in vectx_close() and
since this API is only used for files which must be verified
(VE_MUST) we panic if we get an incorrect hash.

Now that we no longer have GCC 4.2.1 in the tree and can assume FreeBSD
is being built with a C++11 compiler available, we can use BSDL dtc
unconditionally and retire the GPL dtc.

GPL dtc now has FreeBSD CI support via Cirrus-CI to help ensure it
continues to build/work on FreeBSD and is available in the ports tree
if needed.

The copy of (copyfree licensed) libfdt that we actually use is in
sys/contrib/libfdt so the extra copy under contrib/dtc/libfdt can be
removed along with the rest of the GPL dtc.

83a08b7c09 src.opts.mk: simplify Clang and lld bootstrap defaults
With the retirement of GCC 4.2.1 we can assume the host compiler supports
C++11, and can simplify the Clang and LLD defaults.  Clang and lld are now
enabled by default everywhere, and are used as the bootstrap compiler and
linker for all targets except MIPS.

57f804675e remove GCC 4.2.1 build infrastructure
As described in Warner's email message[1] to the FreeBSD-arch mailing
list we have reached GCC 4.2.1's retirement date.  At this time all
supported architectures either use in-tree Clang, or rely on external
toolchain (i.e., a contemporary GCC version from ports).

GCC 4.2.1 was released July 18, 2007 and was imported into FreeBSD later
that year, in r171825.  GCC has served us well, but version 4.2.1 is
obsolete and not used by default on any architecture in FreeBSD.  It
does not support modern C and does not support arm64 or RISC-V.

Thanks to everyone responsible for maintaining, updating, and testing
GCC in the FreeBSD base system over the years.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Binutils has already been reduced to installing ld only on powerpc32

Summary:
With COMPILER_FREEBSD_VERSION, we use a numeric value that we bump each
time we make a change that requires re-bootstrapping, but with the
linker variant, we instead take the entire part after "FreeBSD", as in
this example version output:

LLD 9.0.1 (FreeBSD c1a0a213378a458fbea1a5c77b315c7dce08fd05-1300006) (compatible with GNU linkers)

E.g., LINKER_FREEBSD_VERSION is currently being set to
"c1a0a213378a458fbea1a5c77b315c7dce08fd05-1300006".  This means that
*any* new upstream lld version will cause re-bootstrapping.

We should only look at the numerical field we append after a dash
instead.  This review attempts to make it so.

The only thing I am not happy about is the post-processing of awk output
in Makefile.inc1.  I notice that our awk does not have gensub(), so it
can't substitute a numbered sub-regex with \1, \2, etc.  Suggestions
welcome. :)

d3a5bf95f2 Make the warning for deprecated NO_ variables an error.
Support for NO_CTF, NO_DEBUG_FILES, NO_INSTALLLIB, NO_MAN, NO_PROFILE,
and NO_WARNS as deprecated in 2014 with a warning added for each one
found. Turn these into error in preperation for removal of compatability
support before FreeBSD 13.

This was previously committed in r354909 and reverted in r355011 due to
unforseen impacts on ports.  I've since corrected all amd64 and i386
ports reported in prior runs as well as instance of these variables I
found via grep.

6794d1955a mips: mark GOOGLETEST broken, due to no fault of its own
As explained in the comment; GOOGLETEST cannot currently be compiled on any
mips variant at the moment due to the cross toolchain seemingly using the
wrong spec and not pulling in libgcc. We'll be fine when llvm 10 lands, at
which point this should be reverted most expeditiously.

0f61170882 libssp_nonshared: use only on i386 and ppc
libssp_nonshared.a defines one symbol, __stack_chk_fail_local.  This
is used only on i386 and powerpc; other archs emit calls directly to

504613f246 Remove simple_httpd
simple_httpd was granted a reprieve from the picobsd removal based on having
some reported user; it turns out this user isn't actually using the version
in base and merging their changes would be difficult at this point, so the
version in base will simply continue to rot. Retire it now, it may make a
comeback to ports with the improved version.

No notice issued because its current visibility has only been for ~3
months, and a notice has been previously issued about picobsd removal.

0ce9d0af5b src.opts.mk: force KERBEROS_SUPPORT off where KERBEROS forced off
Explicitly setting WITHOUT_KERBEROS implies WITHOUT_KERBEROS_SUPPORT,
but previously other cases that forced KERBEROS off (such as
WITHOUT_CRYPT) did not also set KERBEROS_SUPPORT off.  Because the
_SUPPORT dependent options (KERBEROS/KERBEROS_SUPPORT) are processed
before other dependencies (CRYPT/KERBEROS) it's not easy to make this
happen automatically.  Instead just explicitly set KERBEROS_SUPPORT
off where we set KERBEROS off.

dea247463c Add note to remind me there are three choices for arm32 floating point.
hard	use floating point hardware, pass registers to functions in
	floating point registers.
softfp	use floating point hardware, but pass registers to functions
	in integer registers.
soft	do floating point calcuations without using floating point
	hardware. Pass arguments in integer registers.

FreeBSD 11 and newer assumes hard. 10 and earlier assumed softfp.  We have no
real support, at the moment, for soft. It's untested, though, if softfp still
works.

Add a note here since this is a whack-a-doodle combination relative to all other
platforms.

softfp is likely to go away in the future because it was retained for people
using FreeBSD 10 + armv6 needing to transition more slowly from softfp -> hard
than the project. It likely is no longer needed, and may be getting in the
way of people needing 'soft' support.

b05bd0b93b src.opts.mk: enable LLVM_UNWIND by default for all archs
Only sparc64 did not enable LLVM_LIBUNWIND. After r356513 LLVM_LIBUNWIND
should at least build on sparc64. The old DWARF unwinder will be removed
along with GCC 4.2.1 in the near future, so switch sparc64 to use LLVM's
unwinder in advance of the removal.  Someone with access to the obsolete
sparc64 hardware supported by FreeBSD will have to test, and investigate
any failures. I will gladly help, but I don't have any suitable hardware
myself.

d679c71970 Refine fusefs test workaround for mips+llvm
This re-enables building the googletest suite by default on mips and instead
specifically doesn't build fusefs tests for mips+clang builds.  clang will
easily spent >= 1.5 hours compiling a single file due to a bug in
optimization (see LLVM PR 43263), so turn these off for now while that's
hashed out.

GCC builds are unaffected and build the fusefs tests as-is. Clang builds
only happen by early adopters attempting to hash out the remaining issues.

The comment has been updated to reflect its new position and use less strong
wording about imposing on people.

6eb84c961a src.opts.mk: disable BINUTILS_BOOTSTRAP on all mips* and sparc64
Extend r356379 to include 32-bit mips and sparc64.  Using a decade-old
binutils linker with a contemporary compiler (either Clang or GCC) is
a combination unlikely to be used by anyone else, and it's not going
to be a good use of our time investigating and addressing any issues
that arise.  Expect that all architectures newly migrated to external
GCC will also use external binutils.

cd0d51baaa Provide libssp based on libc
For libssp.so, rebuild stack_protector.c with FORTIFY_SOURCE stubs that just
abort built into it.

For libssp_nonshared.a, steal stack_protector_compat.c from
^/lib/libc/secure and massage it to maintain that __stack_chk_fail_local
is a hidden symbol.

libssp is now built unconditionally regardless of {WITH,WITHOUT}_SSP in the
build environment, and the gcclibs version has been disconnected from the
build in favor of this one.

64a3ba61a5 Set correct lib32 MACHINE_ARCH for mips64el*.
Use "mipsel" instead of "mips" as the 32-bit MACHINE_ARCH when
building lib32 for little-endian 64-bit MIPS targets.  This fixes an
error where some objects were compiled as LE and others compiled as BE
causing a link error for rtld32.

I elected to list the individual arm MACHINE_ARCHs so future changes
are more clear if LLVM_LIBUNWIND is enabled for one or two but not all
32-bit Arm targets (see PR 233664).

897dc64400 src.opts.mk: switch LLVM toolchain to opt-out
After PowerPC switched in r356111, the list of targets using LLVM as the
default toolchain is much longer than those not using it.  Switch the
sense of the test to exclude those not using LLVM.

Targets not using LLVM is currently mips, riscv5, and sparc64; work is
in progress to migrate the first two to LLVM.

678da4a274 Use LLVM as default toolchain for all PowerPC targets
This enables LLVM as the default compiler for powerpc, powerpc64, and
powerpcspe, as well as LLD as the default linker for powerpc64.

LLD is not yet ready for prime time for powerpc and powerpcspe, but work is
continuing on it.

b451cd4544 [PowerPC64] Use ld.bfd to build LIB32 and STAND - when using llvm
Summary:
This patch is to support ongoing work for replacing "GCC/BFD" by "CLANG/LLD" on
target PowerPC64 [1], by proposing a way to specify and/or locate a secondary
ld.bfd linker.
This is necessary as LLD currently doesn't support PowerPC 32 bits, so we keep
using BFD for the 32 bit stuff on PowePC64(LIB32 compatibility and
STAND/slof/loader.)

- creates LD_BFD variable pointing to ld.bfd
- use LD_BFD as linker for LIB32/compat
- Default behavior for other platforms aren't changed.
