hash install, etc. For now, these are arguments are unused, but as we add RSS support, we will want to use hashes extracted from mbufs, rather than manually calculated hashes of header fields, due to the expensive of the software version of Toeplitz (and similar hashes). Add notes that it would be nice to be able to pass mbufs into lookup routines in pf(4), optimising firewall lookup in the same way, but the code structure there doesn't facilitate that currently. (In principle there is no reason this couldn't be MFCed -- the change extends rather than modifies the KBI. However, it won't be useful without other previous possibly less MFCable changes.) This is the top level of the FreeBSD source directory. The Makefile in this directory supports a number of targets for building components (or all) of the FreeBSD source tree, the most commonly used one being ``world'', which rebuilds and installs everything in the FreeBSD system from the source tree except the kernel, the kernel-modules and the contents of /etc. The ``world'' target should only be used in cases where the source tree has not changed from the currently running version. The ``buildkernel'' and ``installkernel'' targets build and install the kernel and the modules (see below). It is the successor of the ancient LINT file, but in contrast to LINT, it is not buildable as a kernel but a pure reference and documentation file.
