16648b4fff Merge a number of changes required to hook up OpenBSM 1.2-alpha2's
auditdistd (distributed audit daemon) to the build:

- Manual cross references
- Makefile for auditdistd
- rc.d script, rc.conf entrie
- New group and user for auditdistd; associated aliases, etc.

The audit trail distribution daemon provides reliable,
cryptographically protected (and sandboxed) delivery of audit tails
from live clients to audit server hosts in order to both allow
centralised analysis, and improve resilience in the event of client
compromises: clients are not permitted to change trail contents
after submission.

sure we make progress.

Tinderbox breakages that are the result of this commit are entirely
the committer's fault -- in other words: buildworld testing on amd64

2e564269d0 Disconnect non-MPSAFE SMBFS from the build in preparation for dropping
GIANT from VFS. In addition, disconnect also netsmb, which is a base
requirement for SMBFS.

In the while SMBFS regular users can use FUSE interface and smbnetfs
port to work with their SMBFS partitions.

Also, there are ongoing efforts by vendor to support in-kernel smbfs,
so there are good chances that it will get relinked once properly locked.

in-kernel implementations around, found in other operating systems,

If someone wants to reconsider in-kernel NTFS implementation for

In the possibility of a future maintenance of the code and later

ae77177087 - Update FreeBSD Heimdal distribution to version 1.5.1. This also brings
several new kerberos related libraries and applications to FreeBSD:
o kgetcred(1) allows one to manually get a ticket for a particular service.
o kf(1) securily forwards ticket to another host through an authenticated
    and encrypted stream.
  o kcc(1) is an umbrella program around klist(1), kswitch(1), kgetcred(1)
and other user kerberos operations. klist and kswitch are just symlinks
    to kcc(1) now.
o kswitch(1) allows you to easily switch between kerberos credentials if
    you're running KCM.
o hxtool(1) is a certificate management tool to use with PKINIT.
  o string2key(1) maps a password into key.
o kdigest(8) is a userland tool to access the KDC's digest interface.
  o kimpersonate(8) creates a "fake" ticket for a service.

We also now install manpages for some lirbaries that were not installed
  before, libheimntlm and libhx509.

- The new HEIMDAL version no longer supports Kerberos 4. All users are
recommended to switch to Kerberos 5.

- Weak ciphers are now disabled by default. To enable DES support (used
  by telnet(8)), use "allow_weak_crypto" option in krb5.conf.

- libtelnet, pam_ksu and pam_krb5 are now compiled with error on warnings
disabled due to the function they use (krb5_get_err_text(3)) being
deprecated. I plan to work on this next.

- Heimdal's KDC now require sqlite to operate. We use the bundled version
and install it as libheimsqlite. If some other FreeBSD components will
require it in the future we can rename it to libbsdsqlite and use for these
  components as well.

- This is not a latest Heimdal version, the new one was released while I was
working on the update. I will update it to 1.5.2 soon, as it fixes some
  important bugs and security issues.

  recompiled.
- Fix some style(9) violations.

1adecf7a53 Add ZFSD, a ZFS fault management daemon. This daemon has the following
features:

o When a vdev for an active pool is inserted into the system, it will
   re-integrate it with the pool.
o When an unlabeled or inactive disk is inserted into the same physical
location as a missing member of a pool with the "autoreplace" attribute
set, the inserted disk will be used to replace the missing disk.
o When the cumulative soft-error count for a vdev exceeds 50 errors, the
vdev will be marked degraded, alerting users to a potential problem.
The error counts are persisted across reboots.

The daemon is written to be easily extended for more advanced fault
management policies and to handle new features such as spare pool
management.

cddl/sbin/zfsd/zpool_list.cc:
cddl/sbin/zfsd/zpool_list.h:
ZpoolList is a standard container allowing filtering and
iteration of imported ZFS pool information.

cddl/sbin/zfsd/callout.cc:

cddl/sbin/zfsd/zfsd.cc:

	exported through the ZfsDaemon singleton.

cddl/sbin/zfsd/case_file.cc:
cddl/sbin/zfsd/case_file.h:
CaseFile objects aggregate vdev faults that may require ZFSD action
in order to maintain the health of a ZFS pool. They also handle
serialization/deserialization of fault data to persistent
	storage.

cddl/sbin/zfsd/vdev_iterator.cc:
cddl/sbin/zfsd/vdev_iterator.h:
Helper class for traversing and finding vdev objects within a
	pool configuration.

cddl/sbin/zfsd/dev_ctl_event.cc:
cddl/sbin/zfsd/dev_ctl_event.h:
Class hierarchy used to express events received via the devctl API.

cddl/sbin/zfsd/zfsd_exception.cc:
cddl/sbin/zfsd/zfsd_exception.h:
Definition of exceptions explicitly thrown by ZFSD.

cddl/sbin/zfsd/Makefile:
cddl/sbin/Makefile:
	Add zfsd to the build.

etc/rc.d/zfsd:
	Rc script for ZFSD.

etc/defaults/rc.conf:
ZFSD defaults, just like ZFS, to being disabled.

1b8805b8aa Add a couple more frequency ranges to the FCC3 (FCC + DFS) regulatory domain.
The frequency range 5490MHz -> 5710MHz was opened up sometime in 2009, but
regdomain.xml wasn't updated.

FCC reference: (Section 15.407): http://louise.hallikainen.org/FCC/FccRules/2009/15/407/

The hole between 5600-5650MHz is due to a request from Airports using
a weather radar system which also utilises this range.

89b172238a MFgraid/head:
Add new RAID GEOM class, that is going to replace ataraid(4) in supporting
various BIOS-based software RAIDs. Unlike ataraid(4) this implementation
does not depend on legacy ata(4) subsystem and can be used with any disk
drivers, including new CAM-based ones (ahci(4), siis(4), mvs(4), ata(4)
with `options ATA_CAM`). To make code more readable and extensible, this
implementation follows modular design, including core part and two sets
of modules, implementing support for different metadata formats and RAID
levels.

Support for such popular metadata formats is now implemented:
Intel, JMicron, NVIDIA, Promise (also used by AMD/ATI) and SiliconImage.

Such RAID levels are now supported:
RAID0, RAID1, RAID1E, RAID10, SINGLE, CONCAT.

For any all of these RAID levels and metadata formats this class supports
full cycle of volume operations: reading, writing, creation, deletion,
disk removal and insertion, rebuilding, dirty shutdown detection
and resynchronization, bad sector recovery, faulty disks tracking,
hot-spare disks. For Intel and Promise formats there is support multiple
volumes per disk set.

Look graid(8) manual page for additional details.

ad30f8e79b Add the BSD-licensed Citrus iconv to the base system with default off
setting. It can be built by setting the WITH_ICONV knob. While this
knob is unset, the library part, the binaries, the header file and
the metadata files will not be built or installed so it makes no impact
on the system if left turned off.

This work is based on the iconv implementation in NetBSD but a great
number of improvements and feature additions have been included:

- Some utilities have been added. There is a conversion table generator,
which can compare conversion tables to reference data generated by
GNU libiconv. This helps ensuring conversion compatibility.
- UTF-16 surrogate support and some endianness issues have been fixed.
- The rather chaotic Makefiles to build metadata have been refactored
and cleaned up, now it is easy to read and it is also easier to add
  support for new encodings.
- A bunch of new encodings and encoding aliases have been added.
- Support for 1->2, 1->3 and 1->4 mappings, which is needed for
transliterating with flying accents as GNU does, like "u.
- Lots of warnings have been fixed, the major part of the code is
  now WARNS=6 clean.
- New section 1 and section 5 manual pages have been added.
- Some GNU-specific calls have been implemented:
  iconvlist(), iconvctl(), iconv_canonicalize(), iconv_open_into()
- Support for GNU's //IGNORE suffix has been added.
- The "-" argument for stdin is now recognized in iconv(1) as per POSIX.
- The Big5 conversion module has been fixed.
- The iconv.h header files is supposed to be compatible with the
GNU version, i.e. sources should build with base iconv.h and
GNU libiconv. It also includes a macro magic to deal with the
char ** and const char ** incompatibility.
- GNU compatibility: "" or "char" means the current local
  encoding in use
- Various cleanups and style(9) fixes.

4bbc5bd8e0 Bring in Kris Moore's pc-sysinstall shell script from PC-BSD. This
shell script is the back end logic necessary for an installer. It
contains both query routines to allow a front-end installer to present
reasonable choices to the user and also action routines which allow
the front end installer to put a FreeBSD distribution onto a disk. It
supports installing onto the usual suspects, as well as advanced
features like Mirroring, ZFS, Encryprion and GPT labels.

While this is only the back-end of the installer, it can do unattended
scripted installations. In PC-BSD's world view, all installations are
scripted and all the front-end does is write the script. As such, it
is useful in its own right.

This has been extensively tested over the past several releases of
PC-BSD. However, differences between that environment and FreeBSD
suggest there will be a period of shake-out while those differences
are discovered and corrected.

A text-based front-end is in the works. For the GUI-based front-end,
you can use the PC-BSD distribution.

Kris' BSDcan paper on pc-sysinstall is linked off his talk on the
BSDcan site:
	http://www.bsdcan.org/2010/schedule/events/173.en.html

The man page is written by Josh Paetzel, and I wrote the Makefiles for
the FreeBSD integration. Kris wrote the rest.

This represents version r7010 in the PC-BSD repo.

0fcd844921 The named process needs to have a "working directory" that it can
write to. This is specified in "options { directory }" in named.conf.
So, create /etc/namedb/working with appropriate permissions, and
update the entry in named.conf to match.

In addition to specifying the working directory, file and path names
in named.conf can be specified relative to the directory listed.
However, since that directory is now different from /etc/namedb
(where the configuration, zone, rndc.*, and other files are located)
further update named.conf to specify all file names with fully
qualified paths. Also update the comment about file and path names
so users know this should be done for all file/path names in the file.

This change will eliminate the 'working directory is not writable'
messages at boot time without sacrificing security. It will also
allow for features in newer versions of BIND (9.7+) to work as
designed.

763fae7918 ntroduce mfiutil, a basic utility for managing LSI SAS-RAID & Dell PERC5/6
controllers. Controller, array, and drive status can be checked, basic
attributes can be changed, and arrays and spares can be created and deleted.
Controller firmware can also be flashed.

This does not replace MegaCLI, found in ports, as that is officially sanctioned
and supported by LSI and includes vastly more functionality. However, mfiutil
is open source and guaranteed to provide basic functionality, which can be
especially useful if you have a problem and can't get MegaCLI to work.

52c9ce25d8 Separate the parallel scsi knowledge out of the core of the XPT, and
modularize it so that new transports can be created.

Add a transport for SATA

Add a periph+protocol layer for ATA

Add a driver for AHCI-compliant hardware.

Add a maxio field to CAM so that drivers can advertise their max
I/O capability. Modify various drivers so that they are insulated
from the value of MAXPHYS.

The new ATA/SATA code supports AHCI-compliant hardware, and will override
the classic ATA driver if it is loaded as a module at boot time or compiled
into the kernel. The stack now support NCQ (tagged queueing) for increased
performance on modern SATA drives. It also supports port multipliers.

ATA drives are accessed via 'ada' device nodes. ATAPI drives are
accessed via 'cd' device nodes. They can all be enumerated and manipulated
via camcontrol, just like SCSI drives. SCSI commands are not translated to
their ATA equivalents; ATA native commands are used throughout the entire
stack, including camcontrol. See the camcontrol manpage for further
details. Testing this code may require that you update your fstab, and
possibly modify your BIOS to enable AHCI functionality, if available.

This code is very experimental at the moment. The userland ABI/API has
changed, so applications will need to be recompiled. It may change
further in the near future. The 'ada' device name may also change as
more infrastructure is completed in this project. The goal is to
eventually put all CAM busses and devices until newbus, allowing for
interesting topology and management options.

Few functional changes will be seen with existing SCSI/SAS/FC drivers,
though the userland ABI has still changed. In the future, transports
specific modules for SAS and FC may appear in order to better support
the topologies and capabilities of these technologies.

The modularization of CAM and the addition of the ATA/SATA modules is
meant to break CAM out of the mold of being specific to SCSI, letting it
grow to be a framework for arbitrary transports and protocols. It also
allows drivers to be written to support discrete hardware without
jeopardizing the stability of non-related hardware. While only an AHCI
driver is provided now, a Silicon Image driver is also in the works.
Drivers for ICH1-4, ICH5-6, PIIX, classic IDE, and any other hardware
is possible and encouraged. Help with new transports is also encouraged.

e770bc6bf5 First cut at GEOM based multipath. This is an active/passive{/passive...}
arrangement that has no intrinsic internal knowledge of whether devices
it is given are truly multipath devices. As such, this is a simplistic
approach, but still a useful one.

The basic approach is to (at present- this will change soon) use camcontrol
to find likely identical devices and and label the trailing sector of the
first one. This label contains both a full UUID and a name. The name is
what is presented in /dev/multipath, but the UUID is used as a true
distinguishor at g_taste time, thus making sure we don't have chaos
on a shared SAN where everyone names their data multipath as "Fred".

The first of N identical devices (and N *may* be 1!) becomes the active
path until a BIO request is failed with EIO or ENXIO. When this occurs,
the active disk is ripped away and the next in a list is picked to
(retry and) continue with.

During g_taste events new disks that meet the match criteria for existing
multipath geoms get added to the tail end of the list.

Thus, this active/passive setup actually does work for devices which
go away and come back, as do (now) mpt(4) and isp(4) SAN based disks.

There is still a lot to do to improve this- like about 5 of the 12
recommendations I've received about it, but it's been functional enough
for a while that it deserves a broader test base.

04c7da702f A GEOM cache can speed up read performance by sending fixed size
read requests to its consumer. It has been developed to address
the problem of a horrible read performance of a 64k blocksize FS
residing on a RAID3 array with 8 data components, where a single
disk component would only get 8k read requests, thus effectively
killing disk performance under high load. Documentation will be
provided later. I'd like to thank Vsevolod Lobko for his bright
ideas, and Pawel Jakub Dawidek for helping me fix the nasty bug.

da1081964c Add a /media to FreeBSD. /media is a directory designed to contain
subdirectories that will be used for removable media mount points (i.e.
mount points for CDs, floppy disks, USB drives, etc.). While the primary
purpose of /media is to provide a location for HAL
(http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software_2fhal) to mount volumes, it could
be used by any application that needs to manage removable media volumes.

013f1b341e Merge Perforce change 93569 from TrustedBSD audit3 branch:
Do install sys/security/audit include files. It would be nice just
to install audit_ioctl.h, but we seem only to support installing
directories, so we get them all. The two not intended for extra-
kernel use have !_KERNEL #error's, which should help.

a4d159a817 Revert previous change for now. We traditionally add a new locale
directory when we have 10+ ports that make use of it, and now we have
only 3. This change would come back if the tt/ usage grown up to the
level.

dfdae5534f Add a mechanism to include files added by ports which contain
the names of directories to include in the base ldconfig script.
This will eliminate the need for each port to install its own
boot script which does nothing but ldocnfig a given directory.

This code was developed by flz (ports committer), discussed on
freebsd-rc@, and modified slightly by me.

6fb01948ee Add portsnap to the base system. This is a secure, easy to use,
fast, lightweight, and generally good way for users to keep their
ports trees up to date.

This is version 0.9.4 from the ports tree (sysutils/portsnap) with
the following changes:
1. The experimental pipelined http code is enabled. No seatbelts
in -CURRENT. (^_^)
2. The working directory has moved from /usr/local/portsnap to
/var/db/portsnap (as discussed on -arch two days ago).
3. Portsnap now fetches a list of mirrors (distributed as DNS SRV
records) and selects one randomly. This should help to avoid the
uneven loading which plagues the cvsup mirror network.
4. The license is now 2-clause BSD instead of 3-clause BSD.
5. Various incidental changes to make portsnap fit into the base
system's build mechanics.
