This change adds tests/ directories in the source tree to create various
subdirectories in /usr/tests/ and to install placeholder Kyuafiles for
them.
the relevant hierarchies are: cddl, etc, games, gnu and secure.
The reason for this is to simplify the addition of new test programs for
utilities or libraries under any of these directories. Doing so on a
case by case basis is unnecessary and is quite an obscure process.
stop timer. since watchdogd rc.d script is marked as 'shutdown'
it will exit (on shutdown) and stop timer. if system happens to
hung after watchdogd exited, manual reset is required. when one
operates in "lights-out" type of environments and without
readily available "remote hands" it could create a problem.
this provides ability to override "stop signal" for watchdogd.
default behavior is preserved, i.e. watchdogd will still be killed
via SIGTERM and timer will be stopped. in order to activate new
feature, one needs to put
watchdogd_sig_stop="KILL"
into /etc/rc.conf and also make sure watchdogd timeout is set
to long enough value allowing system to come back online before
timeout fires.

the first alias had to be _alias0 and processing stopped at the first non-
defined variable (preventing gaps). Allowing gaps gives the administrator
the ability to group aliases in an adhoc manner and also lifts the
requirement to renumber aliases simply to comment-out an existing one.

These were originally deleted as "not important" but, actually we need them
in place if we want to be able to use autoconf on software that provides
atf-based tests. (That includes being able to rebuild autotest from scratch
on the Kyua cluster machines, as the automated setup does.)
Interestingly, the pkill tool lives in bin, not usr.bin. Haven't bothered
to check if this is because the tool moved or because the tests were
originally added in the wrong place.
Note that these tests are for fmake, not bmake, and thus they are not
installed nor run when bmake is selected (the default). Yes, I have
wasted a *ton* of time on moving tests for no real reason other than
ensuring they are not left behind.
But maybe, just maybe, it was not work in vain: the majority of these
tests also work with bmake and the few that don't may point at broken
stuff. For example, the tests for the "archive" feature do not work
with bmake, but bmake's manpage and source tree seem to imply that they
should. So... to be investigated later; need to poke sjg@.
I'm starting with the easy cases. The leftovers need to be looked at a
bit more closely.
Note that this change _does_ modify the code of the old tests. This is
required in order to allow the code to locate the data files in the
source directory instead of the current directory, because Kyua
automatically changes the latter to a temporary directory.
Also note that at least one test is known to be broken here. Actually,
the test is not really broken: it's marked as a TODO but unfortunately
Kyua's TAP parser currently does not understand that. Will have to be
fixed separately.
This change was originally going to only migrate the usr.sbin tests but, as
it turns out, the usr.sbin/sa/ tests require files from usr.bin/lastcomm/
so it's better to just also migrate the latter at the same time. The other
usr.bin tests will be moved separately.
To make these tests work within the test suite, some of them have required
changes to prevent modifying the source directory and instead just rely on
the current directory for file manipulation.
AppleTalk was a network transport protocol for Apple Macintosh devices
in 80s and then 90s. Starting with Mac OS X in 2000 the AppleTalk was
a legacy protocol and primary networking protocol is TCP/IP. The last
Mac OS X release to support AppleTalk happened in 2009. The same year
routing equipment vendors (namely Cisco) end their support.
Thus, AppleTalk won't be supported in FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE.
IPX was a network transport protocol in Novell's NetWare network operating
system from late 80s and then 90s. The NetWare itself switched to TCP/IP
as default transport in 1998. Later, in this century the Novell Open
Enterprise Server became successor of Novell NetWare. The last release
that claimed to still support IPX was OES 2 in 2007. Routing equipment
vendors (e.g. Cisco) discontinued support for IPX in 2011.
Thus, IPX won't be supported in FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE.
allows us to change the uart(4) driver to not hardcode specific line
settings for the serial console.
A terminal type of 3wire makes sure the console still works when no DCD
signal is present, which preserves behviour. When it is known that the
terminal server (or DCE in general) provides DCD, a terminal type/class
of std can be used. This has the effect of being logged out when one
disconnects from the console -- improving security overall.
Likewise, when uart(4) does not fixate the baudrate, one can change
the terminal type/class to set a specific baudrate. An operator can use
this to change the console speed mid-flight, without needing a reboot.
Of course it helps in this respect if and when the firmware can be
configured from the OS.
The above mentioned capabilities depend on uart(4) being changed, which
is to happen next.
the existing terminal types/classes that have the baudrate suffix,
but differ in that no baudrate is set/defined.
The purpose of these new types/classes is to allow them to be used
for the serial console. Currently the uart(4) driver fixates the
baudrate and the CLOCAL flag, which means that it doesn't matter
whether you give it std.<baud> or 3wire.<baud> as the terminal type
to getty and what exactly <baud> is set to. It's being overridden
by uart(4). The goal is to change uart(4) not to override these
settings.
new command line options -W, to enable it when needed.
On my tests this change by almost ten times improves rpcbind performance.

standard, provisionally named C++1y.
The code generator's performance is greatly increased, and the loop
auto-vectorizer is now enabled at -Os and -O2 in addition to -O3. The
PowerPC backend has made several major improvements to code generation
quality and compile time, and the X86, SPARC, ARM32, Aarch64 and SystemZ
backends have all seen major feature work.

libatf-c and libatf-c++ test directories, just as the upstream distribution

Promoting the SIGINFO handler's log message from LOG_INFO to
LOG_NOTICE, and promoting the "Processing event ..." message from
LOG_DEBUG to LOG_INFO. Setting the logfile to LOG_NOTICE with this
change will have the same result as setting it to LOG_INFO without
this change. Setting it to LOG_INFO with this change will include
the useful "Processing event ..." messages that were previously at
LOG_DEBUG, without including useless messages like "Pushing table".
The intent of this change is that one can log "Processing event ..."
without logging "Pushing table" and related messages that are sent
for every event. The number of lines actually logged is reduced by
about 75% by making this change and setting syslog to LOG_INFO vs
setting syslog to LOG_DEBUG.

This change is a proof of concept on how to easily integrate existing
tests from the tools/regression/ hierarchy into the /usr/tests/ test
suite and on how to adapt them to the new layout for src.

- Renames the previous regress.sh files to legacy_test.sh.

This change adds some sample test cases to share/examples/tests/
demonstrating the basic usage of the atf and plain interfaces.
These test programs are fully-functional and are installed as part
of the test suite, which guarantees that the sample code remains
correct. However, they currently mostly serve as a placeholder for
additional examples and may be incomplete (depending on how you
look at them). I will see what else can be useful while working on
documentation.
As a bonus, the addition of these tests exercise the *.test.mk files,
one of which (plain.test.mk) was not yet in use, and also demonstrates
that it's possible to mix different kinds of test programs into the
same test suite.

* Userland seeding is no longer used. This auto-seeds at boot time

* Refactor the hardware RNG CPU instruction sources to feed into
the software mixer. This is unfinished. The actual harvesting needs
to be sorted out. Modified by me (see below).
* Remove 'frac' parameter from random_harvest(). This was never
used and adds extra code for no good reason.
* Remove device write entropy harvesting. This provided a weak
attack vector, was not very good at bootstrapping the device. To
follow will be a replacement explicit reseed knob.
* Separate out all the RANDOM_PURE sources into separate harvest
entities. This adds some secuity in the case where more than one
is present.
* Review all the code and fix anything obviously messy or inconsistent.
Address som review concerns while I'm here, like rename the pseudo-rng

them are available (or registered), then system will default to
something reasonable (currently yarrow). If yarrow is not present, then
we fall back to the adaptor that's first on the list of registered

4) Introduce a way where RNGs can play a role of entropy source. This is
mostly useful for HW rngs.
The way I envision this is that every HW RNG will use this
functionality by default. Functionality to disable this is also present.
I have an example of how to use this in random_adaptor_example.c (see
modload event, and init function)

per-jail configuration are automatically converted to
/var/run/jail.<jname>.conf before the jail(8) utility is invoked.
This is transparently backward compatible.

generates a configuration suitable for running unbound as a caching
forwarding resolver, and configures resolvconf(8) to update unbound's
list of forwarders in addition to /etc/resolv.conf. The initial list
is taken from the existing resolv.conf, which is rewritten to point to
localhost. Alternatively, a list of forwarders can be provided on the
command line.
To assist this script, add an rc.subr command called "enabled" which
does nothing except return 0 if the service is enabled and 1 if it is
not, without going through the usual checks. We should consider doing
the same for "status", which is currently pointless.
Add an rc script for unbound, called local_unbound. If there is no
configuration file, the rc script runs local-unbound-setup to generate
one.
Note that these scripts place the unbound configuration files in
/var/unbound rather than /etc/unbound. This is necessary so that
unbound can reload its configuration while chrooted. We should
probably provide symlinks in /etc.

If we panic again shortly after boot (say, within 30 seconds), any core
dump we wrote out may be lost on reboot. In this situation, we really
want to keep that core file, as it may be the only way to have the issue
resolved. Call sync(8) after writing out the core file and running
crashinfo(8), in the hope that these will not be lost if we panic
again. sync(8) is only called in the case where there is a core dump
to be written out, so won't be called during normal boots.

There are now six additional variables

alongside their existing daily counterparts. They all have the same
default values.
All other "daily_status_security_${scriptname}_${whatever}"
variables have been renamed to "security_status_${name}_${whatever}".
A compatibility shim has been introduced for the old variable names,
which we will be able to remove in 11.0-RELEASE.
"security_status_${name}_enable" is still a boolean but a new
"security_status_${name}_period" allows to define the period of
each script. The value is one of "daily" (the default for backward
compatibility), "weekly", "monthly" and "NO".
Note that when the security periodic scripts are run directly from
crontab(5) (as opposed to being called by daily or weekly periodic
scripts), they will run unless the test is explicitely disabled with a
"NO", either for in the "_enable" or the "_period" variable.
When the security output is not inlined, the mail subject has been
changed from "$host $arg run output" to "$host $arg $period run output".
For instance:
myfbsd security run output -> myfbsd security daily run output
I don't think this is considered as a stable API, but feel free to
correct me if I'm wrong.
Finally, I will rearrange periodic.conf(5) and default/periodic.conf
to put the security options in their own section. I left them in
place for this commit to make reviewing easier.

Newly-configured systems should use $cloned_interfaces.
- Call clone_{up,down}() and ifnet_rename() in rc.d/netif {start,stop}.
ifnet_rename() now accepts an interface name list as its argument.
- Add rc.d/netif clear. The "clear" subcommand is basically equivalent to
"stop" but it does not call clone_down().
- Add "ifname:sticky" keyword into $cloned_interfaces. If :sticky is
specified, the interface will not be destroyed in rc.d/netif stop.
- Add cloned_interfaces_sticky={YES,NO}. This variable globally sets
:sticky keyword above for all interfaces. The default value is NO.
When cloned_interfaces_sticky=YES, :nosticky keyword can be used to
override it on per interface basis.
- inet 192.0.2.1-10 netmask 255.255.255.0 (inet range spec + ifconfig options)
- inet6 2001:db8:1::1-f prefixlen 60 (inet6 range spec + ifconfig options)
If prefixlen or netmask option is specified with CIDR notation at
the same time, the option is used.

Not only this is a bit cleaner, it allows multiple instances of hostapd to be
running on the system host, useful for simultaneous dual-band WiFi.
This is similar to ifconfig_wlanX="WPA" but it uses /etc/hostapd-wlanX.conf.
Compatibility with hostapd_enable=YES/NO was kept.

This is an extended version of ipv4_addr_IF which supports both IPv4 and
IPv6, and multiple range specifications. To avoid to generate too many
addresses, the maximum number of the generated addresses is currently
limited to 31.
- Add $ifconfig_IF_aliases, which accepts multiple IP aliases in a variable.
- ipv6_prefix_IF now supports !/64 prefix length. In addition to the old
64-bit format (2001:db8:1:1), a full 128-bit format like 2001:db8:1:1::/64
is supported.
- Replace ifconfig command with $IFCONFIG_CMD variable to support
a dry-run mode in the future.
- Remove IP aliases before removing all of IPv4 addresses when doing
"rc.d/netif down".
- Add a DAD wait to network6_getladdr() because it is possible to fail to
configure an EUI64 address when ipv6_prefix_IF is specified.

ntpdate_config was set to NULL the conditional would (counter to prevailing
logic) succeed -- leading to awk attempting to redirect from a NULL pathname
standard-in. While we're here, make the script consistant with itself by
removing the {curlies} around ntpdate_config (they are unnecessary).
{,ipv6_}static_routes and rc.d/routing. For example:

At boot time, all of the static routes are installed as before.
The differences are:
- "/etc/rc.d/netif start/stop <if>" now configures static routes
with :<if> if any.
- "/etc/rc.d/routing start/stop <af> <if>" works as well. <af> cannot be
omitted when <if> is specified, but a keyword "any" or "all" can be used
for <af> and <if>.
debug files for userland programs and libraries. The "-g" debug flag
is automatically applied when WITH_DEBUG_FILES is set.
The debug files are now named ${prog}.debug and ${shlib}.debug for
consistency with other systems and documentation. In addition they are
installed under /usr/lib/debug, to simplify the process of installing
them if needed after a crash. Users of bsd.{prog,lib}.mk outside of the
base system place the standalone debug files in a .debug subdirectory.
GDB automatically searches both of these directories for standalone
debug files.

Do this per jail started, not per address. This will allow DAD to complete
and services to properly start. Before we have seen problems with services
trying to start before the IPv6 address was available to use and thus
erroring and failing to start.

The XC900M acts as a Ubiquiti XR9 (and I _think_ SR9) by default;
it uses the same 900MHz<->2.4GHz downconverter mapping.
However it has an alternative frequency mapping which squeezes in a couple
more half/quarter rate channels. Since the default HAL doesn't support
fractional tuning (sub-1MHz) in 2.4GHz mode on the AR5413/AR5414, they
implement it using a jumper.

cryptographically protected (and sandboxed) delivery of audit tails
