abial 2764ef0517 Make this work when compiled ELF. The code assumed that when you go off

the table boundary you get NULLs, and this was true for a.out, but some
ELF-related gremlin fills it with 0xff instead...

I suspect there are more problems of this type left in the tree. :-(
