Bruce Evans cacd1f6aa9 Cast to `const char *' instead of to c_caddr_t. This is part of ...

terminating c_caddr_t with extreme prejudice.  Here we depended
on the "opaque" type c_caddr_t being precisely `const char *'
to do unportable pointer arithmetic.
