As announced in the deprecation note, remove the Rx offload flag
'RTE_ETH_RX_OFFLOAD_HEADER_SPLIT' and 'split_hdr_size' field from
the structure 'rte_eth_rxmode'. Meanwhile, the place where the examples
and apps initialize the 'split_hdr_size' field, and where the drivers
check if the 'split_hdr_size' value is 0 are also removed.
User can still use `RTE_ETH_RX_OFFLOAD_BUFFER_SPLIT` for per-queue packet
split offload, which is configured by 'rte_eth_rxseg_split'.

Add all necessary elements for DPDK to compile and run EAL on
LoongArch64 Soc.
This includes:
- EAL library implementation for LoongArch ISA.
- meson build structure for 'loongarch' architecture.
RTE_ARCH_LOONGARCH define is added for architecture identification.
- xmm_t structure operation stubs as there is no vector support in
the current version for LoongArch.
Compilation was tested on Debian and CentOS using loongarch64
cross-compile toolchain from x86 build hosts. Functions were tested
on Loongnix and Kylin which are two Linux distributions supported
LoongArch host based on Linux 4.19 maintained by Loongson
Corporation.
We also tested DPDK on LoongArch with some external applications,
including: Pktgen-DPDK, OVS, VPP.
The platform is currently marked as linux-only because there is no
other OS than Linux support LoongArch host currently.
The i40e PMD driver is disabled on LoongArch because of the absence
of vector support in the current version.
Similar to RISC-V, the compilation of following modules has been
disabled by this commit and will be re-enabled in later commits as
fixes are introduced:
net/ixgbe, net/memif, net/tap, example/l3fwd.

A segmentation fault occurs when testpmd exit.
This is due to fetching the device name from PF, PF
is freed firstly and then VF representor is called
later.
This commit fixes the bug by fetching the device
name from VF representor instead of PF.

Remove deprecated fdir_conf from device configuration.
Assume that mode is equal to RTE_FDIR_MODE_NONE.
Add internal Flow Director configuration copy in ixgbe and txgbe device
private data since flow API supports requires it. Initialize mode to
the first flow rule mode on the rule validation or creation.
Since Flow Director configuration data types are still used by some
drivers internally, move it from public API to ethdev driver internal
API.

Make rte_driver opaque for non internal users.
This will make extending this object possible without breaking the ABI.
Introduce a new driver header and move rte_driver definition.
Update drivers and library to use the internal header.
Some applications may have been dereferencing rte_driver objects, mark
this object's accessors as stable.

Those commands date back to the early stages of DPDK when only PCI
devices were supported.
At the time, developers may have used those commands to help in
debugging their buggy^Wwork in progress drivers.
Removing them, we can drop the dependency on the PCI bus and library and
make testpmd bus agnostic.

Start a new release cycle with empty release notes.
The ABI version becomes 23.0.
The map files are updated to the new ABI major number (23).
The ABI exceptions are dropped and CI ABI checks are disabled because
compatibility is not preserved.
Special handling of removed drivers is also dropped in check-abi.sh and
a note has been added in libabigail.abignore as a reminder.

Previously, QinQ is enabled by default and can't be disabled,
but there'll be performance drop if QinQ is enabled.
So, disabled QinQ by default and also updated the knowing VLAN
issue with this configure.

Flow type table has two instance, one is used for flow type to string
conversion, and other is used for string to flow type conversion.
And tables are diverged by time.
Unifying tables to prevent maintaining two different tables.
Note: made 'flowtype_to_str()' and 'str_to_flowtype()' non-static to
prevent build error for the case PMDs using it disables. Making the two
functions generic, not for some PMDs.

Outer VLAN processing is supported after firmware v8.4, kernel driver
also change the default behavior to support this feature. To align with
kernel driver, add support for outer VLAN processing in DPDK.
But it is forbidden for firmware to change the Inner/Outer VLAN
configuration while there are MAC/VLAN filters in the switch table.
Therefore, we need to clear the MAC table before setting config,
and then restore the MAC table after setting.
This will not impact on an old firmware.

Add all necessary elements for DPDK to compile and run EAL on SiFive
Freedom U740 SoC which is based on SiFive U74-MC (ISA: rv64imafdc)
core complex.
This includes:
- EAL library implementation for rv64imafdc ISA.
- meson build structure for 'riscv' architecture. RTE_ARCH_RISCV define
is added for architecture identification.
- xmm_t structure operation stubs as there is no vector support in the
U74 core.
Compilation was tested on Ubuntu and Arch Linux using riscv64 toolchain.
Clang compilation currently not supported due to issues with missing
relocation relaxation.
Two rte_rdtsc() schemes are provided: stable low-resolution using rdtime
(default) and unstable high-resolution using rdcycle. User can override
the scheme by defining RTE_RISCV_RDTSC_USE_HPM=1 during compile time of
both DPDK and the application. The reasoning for this is as follows.
The RISC-V ISA mandates that clock read by rdtime has to be of constant
period and synchronized between all hardware threads within 1 tick
(chapter 10.1 in version 20191213 of RISC-V spec).
However this clock may not be of high-enough frequency for dataplane
uses. I.e. on HiFive Unmatched (FU740) it is 1MHz.
There is a high-resolution alternative in form of rdcycle which is
clocked at the core clock frequency. The drawbacks are that it may be
disabled during sleep (WFI), its frequency might change due to DVFS and
it is core-local and therefore cannot be used as a wall-clock. It can
however be used for micro-benchmarking user applications, similarly to
Aarch64's PMCCNTR PMU counter.
The platform is currently marked as linux-only because rte_cycles
implementation uses the timebase-frequency device-tree node read through
the proc file system. Such approach was chosen because Linux kernel
depends on the presence of this device-tree node.
The i40e PMD driver is disabled on RISC-V as the rv64gc ISA has no vector
operations.
The compilation of following modules has been disabled by this commit
and will be re-enabled in later commits as fixes are introduced:
net/ixgbe, net/memif, net/tap, example/l3fwd.

Previously, max frame size can only be set when link is up, and the wait
time is 1 sec. Startup time of 10G_BASET longer than 1s would result in
failure.
Actually, max frame size of media type I40E_MEDIA_TYPE_BASET can be set
regardless of link status.
This patch omitted the link status check of 10G_MEDIA_TYPE_BASET.

The AltiVec header file is defining "vector", except in C++ build.
The keyword "vector" may conflict easily.
As a rule, it is better to use the alternative keyword "__vector",
so we will be able to #undef vector after including AltiVec header.
Later it may become possible to #undef vector in rte_altivec.h
with a compatibility breakage.

Errors from i40e_flow_parse_fdir_pattern() can bubble up to
rte_flow_create. If rte_flow_error is not initialized a caller may
dereference error->message. This may be uninitialized memory, leading

Currently max frame size is set at queue level, which makes the values
of the following counters wrong when a jumbo frame is received.
The expected value:

This patch enables setting max frame size at port level, and makes the

This commit adds a flow director support to i40e NEON
vector RX path.
I40e can have 16 and 32 byte descriptors, and the Flow
Director ID data and indication-bit are in different
locations for each size descriptor. The support is
implemented in two separate functions as they require
vastly different operations.
The 16B descriptor re-purposes the "filter-status" u32
field to indicate FDIR ID when the FLM bit is set. No
extra loads are required, however we do have to store
to mbuf->fdir.hi, which is not stored to in the RX path
before this patch.
The 32B descriptor requires loading the 2nd 16 bytes of
each descriptor, to get the FLEXBH_STAT and FD Filter ID
from qword3. The resulting data must also be stored to
mbuf->fdir.hi, same as the 16B code path.

For free buffer operation in i40e vector path, it is unnecessary to
store 'NULL' into txep.mbuf. This is because when putting mbuf into Tx
queue, tx_tail is the sentinel. And when doing tx_free, tx_next_dd is
the sentinel. In all processes, mbuf==NULL is not a condition in check.
Thus reset of mbuf is unnecessary and can be omitted.

Rx descriptor is 16B/32B in size. If the DD bit is set, it indicates
that the rest of the descriptor words have valid values. Hence, the
word containing DD bit must be read first before reading the rest of
the descriptor words.
Since the entire descriptor is not read atomically, on relaxed memory
ordered systems like Aarch64, read of the word containing DD field
could be reordered after read of other words.
Read barrier is inserted between read of the word with DD field
and read of other words. The barrier ensures that the fetched data
is correct.
Testpmd single core test showed no performance drop on x86 or N1SDP.
On ThunderX2, 22% performance regression was observed.

Testpmd forwards packets in checksum mode that it need to calculate
the checksum of each layer's protocol. Then it will fill flags and
header length into mbuf.
In process_outer_cksums, HW calculates the outer checksum if
tx_offloads contains outer UDP checksum otherwise SW calculates
the outer checksum.
When tx_offloads contains outer UDP checksum or outer IPv4 checksum,
mbuf will be filled with correct header length.
This patch added outer UDP checksum in tx_offload_capa and
I40E_TX_OFFLOAD_MASK, when we set csum hw outer-udp on that the
engine can forward outer IPv6 VXLAN packets.

When RTE_ETH_DEV_CAPA_FLOW_RULE_KEEP capability bit is zero,
the specified behavior is the same as it had been before
this bit was introduced. Explicitly reset it in all PMDs
supporting rte_flow API in order to attract the attention
of maintainers, who should eventually choose to advertise
the new capability or not. It is already known that
mlx4 and mlx5 will not support this capability.
For RTE_ETH_DEV_CAPA_FLOW_SHARED_OBJECT_KEEP
similar action is not performed,
because no PMD except mlx5 supports indirect actions.
Any PMD that starts doing so will anyway have to consider
all relevant API, including this capability.

After DEV_RX_OFFLOAD_JUMBO_FRAME flag removed, drivers give jumbo frame
decisions based on MTU value checks, but some of the checks were wrong
by mistake, causing device initialization to fail, fixing them.

Rx descriptor is 16B/32B in size. If the DD bit is set, it indicates
that the rest of the descriptor words have valid values. Hence, the
word containing DD bit must be read first before reading the rest of
the descriptor words.
In NEON vector PMD, vector load loads two contiguous 8B of
descriptor data into vector register. Given vector load ensures no
16B atomicity, read of the word that includes DD field could be
reordered after read of other words. In this case, some words could
contain invalid data.
Read barrier is added after read of qword1 that includes DD field.
And qword0 is reloaded to update vector register. This ensures
that the fetched data is correct.
Testpmd single core test on N1SDP/ThunderX2 showed no performance drop.

The common header file for vectorization is included in multiple files,
and so must use macros for the current compilation unit, rather than the
compiler-capability flag set for the whole driver. With the current,
incorrect, macro, the AVX512 or AVX2 flags may be set when compiling up
SSE code, leading to compilation errors. Changing from "CC_AVX*_SUPPORT"
to the compiler-defined "__AVX*__" macros fixes this issue. In addition,
splitting AVX-specific code into the new i40e_rxtx_common_avx.h header
file to avoid such bugs.

Removing 'DEV_RX_OFFLOAD_JUMBO_FRAME' offload flag.
Instead of drivers announce this capability, application can deduct the
capability by checking reported 'dev_info.max_mtu' or
'dev_info.max_rx_pktlen'.
And instead of application setting this flag explicitly to enable jumbo
frames, this can be deduced by driver by comparing requested 'mtu' to
'RTE_ETHER_MTU'.
Removing this additional configuration for simplification.

Setting MTU bigger than RTE_ETHER_MTU requires the jumbo frame support,
and application should enable the jumbo frame offload support for it.
When jumbo frame offload is not enabled by application, but MTU bigger
than RTE_ETHER_MTU is requested there are two options, either fail or
enable jumbo frame offload implicitly.
Enabling jumbo frame offload implicitly is selected by many drivers
since setting a big MTU value already implies it, and this increases
usability.
This patch moves this logic from drivers to the library, both to reduce
the duplicated code in the drivers and to make behaviour more visible.

There is a confusion on setting max Rx packet length, this patch aims to
clarify it.
'rte_eth_dev_configure()' API accepts max Rx packet size via
'uint32_t max_rx_pkt_len' field of the config struct 'struct
rte_eth_conf'.
Also 'rte_eth_dev_set_mtu()' API can be used to set the MTU, and result
stored into '(struct rte_eth_dev)->data->mtu'.
These two APIs are related but they work in a disconnected way, they
store the set values in different variables which makes hard to figure
out which one to use, also having two different method for a related
functionality is confusing for the users.
Other issues causing confusion is:
* maximum transmission unit (MTU) is payload of the Ethernet frame. And
'max_rx_pkt_len' is the size of the Ethernet frame. Difference is
Ethernet frame overhead, and this overhead may be different from
device to device based on what device supports, like VLAN and QinQ.
* 'max_rx_pkt_len' is only valid when application requested jumbo frame,
which adds additional confusion and some APIs and PMDs already
discards this documented behavior.
* For the jumbo frame enabled case, 'max_rx_pkt_len' is an mandatory
field, this adds configuration complexity for application.
As solution, both APIs gets MTU as parameter, and both saves the result
in same variable '(struct rte_eth_dev)->data->mtu'. For this
'max_rx_pkt_len' updated as 'mtu', and it is always valid independent
from jumbo frame.
For 'rte_eth_dev_configure()', 'dev->data->dev_conf.rxmode.mtu' is user
request and it should be used only within configure function and result
should be stored to '(struct rte_eth_dev)->data->mtu'. After that point
both application and PMD uses MTU from this variable.
When application doesn't provide an MTU during 'rte_eth_dev_configure()'
default 'RTE_ETHER_MTU' value is used.
Additional clarification done on scattered Rx configuration, in
relation to MTU and Rx buffer size.
MTU is used to configure the device for physical Rx/Tx size limitation,
Rx buffer is where to store Rx packets, many PMDs use mbuf data buffer
size as Rx buffer size.
PMDs compare MTU against Rx buffer size to decide enabling scattered Rx
or not. If scattered Rx is not supported by device, MTU bigger than Rx
buffer size should fail.

Firmware 8.4+ will return I40E_AQ_RC_ENOENT when try to delete
non-existent MAC/VLAN addresses from the HW filtering, this should
not be considered as an Admin Queue error. But in i40e_asq_send_command,
it will return I40E_ERR_ADMIN_QUEUE_ERROR if the return value of Admin
Queue command processed by Firmware is not I40E_AQ_RC_OK or
I40E_AQ_RC_EBUSY.
Use i40e_aq_remove_macvlan_v2 instead so that we can get the
corresponding Admin Queue status, and not report as an error in DPDK
when Firmware return I40E_AQ_RC_ENOENT, and this also not break with an
old firmware.

Currently majority of fast-path ethdev ops take pointers to internal
queue data structures as an input parameter.
While eth_rx_queue_count() takes a pointer to rte_eth_dev and queue
index.
For future work to hide rte_eth_devices[] and friends it would be
plausible to unify parameters list of all fast-path ethdev ops.
This patch changes eth_rx_queue_count() to accept pointer to internal
queue data as input parameter.
While this change is transparent to user, it still counts as an ABI change,
as eth_rx_queue_count_t is used by ethdev public inline function
rte_eth_rx_queue_count().
