092cbc3de6 table: remove deprecated 16-byte key hash tables
The non-dosig version of the 16-byte key hash tables (both extendable
bucket and LRU) are removed. The remaining hash tables are renamed to
eliminate the dosig particle from their name.

2ac67c3283 test/crypto: remove crypto perf tests
Since the crypto perf application is flexible enough
to cover all the crypto performance tests, these are not needed
anymore, so they will be removed to avoid duplications.
Besides, the crypto perf application gives the user more options
to get performance, for every single supported algorithm,
such as varying the buffer size as the user wants.

708a976b16 test/crypto: do not allocate extra memory for digest
Now that PMDs do not need extra space in the mbuf
to store temporarily the digest when verifying
an authentication tag, it is not required to allocate
more memory in the mbufs passed to cryptodev.

d5b0924ba6 ethdev: add return value to stats get dev op
The stats_get dev op API doesn't include return value, so PMD cannot
return an error in case of failure at stats getting process time.

Since PCI devices can be removed and there is a time between the
physical removal to the RMV interrupt, the user may get invalid stats
without any indication.

This patch changes the stats_get API return value to be int instead of
void.

All the net PMDs stats_get dev ops are adjusted by this patch.

381acec2b1 eventdev: ease single-link queue config requirements
Events sent through single-link queues are naturally in-order and
atomic, without reordering or atomic scheduling. Logically the
nb_atomic_flows and nb_atomic_order_sequences arguments don't apply to a
single link queue, but applications must set these (depending on the queue
config type) to bypass the is_valid_{ordered, atomic}_queue_conf() checks
in the eventdev layer.

This commit updates those is_valid_* functions to ignore queues with the
SINGLE_LINK flag, to simplify their configuration.

f8244c6399 ethdev: increase port id range
Extend port_id definition from uint8_t to uint16_t in lib and drivers
data structures, specifically rte_eth_dev_data. Modify the APIs,
drivers and app using port_id at the same time.

Fix some checkpatch issues from the original code and remove some
unnecessary cast operations.

release_17_11 and deprecation docs have been updated in this patch.

effd92b96a test/ring: do not mask result of enqueue or dequeue
The define RTE_RING_SZ_MASK is the maximum size supported by the
rte_ring. The size is checked at ring creation.

There is no reason today to mask the result of
rte_ring_sp_enqueue_burst() or rte_ring_sc_dequeue_burst() with this
value. The flag RTE_RING_QUOT_EXCEED was previously included in the
returned value but it was removed in
commit 77dd306427 ("ring: remove watermark support").

e25da5a0a3 test/log: fix dynamic log levels testing
This patch fixes the dynamic log levels testing in logs_autotest.
Introduction of rte_log_set_level() in patch c1b5fa94a4 was done
with parameter RTE_LOG_EMERG which caused all RTE_LOG() calls an
early return due to all given levels were far below EMERG.
If first two logs supposed to show up on console, the initial log
level must be low (DEBUG). It is than changed above ERR when we test
if TESTAPP2 log type can be filtered by log type log level.

aee62e906f service: fix lcore stop
lcore_states store the state of the lcore. Fixing the invalid
dereference of lcore_states with service number

Unit test case service_lcore_start_stop fails with the above fix.
Service core was stopped without stopping the service.

This commit fixes the test by adding negative and positive cases of
stopping the service lcore before and after stopping the service
respectively

95fdf37c89 service: add component runstate
This commit adds a new flag that the component (or "backend")
can use to indicate readyness. The service function callback
will not be called until the component sets itself as ready.

The use-case behind adding this feature is eg: a service that
requires configuration before it can start. Any service that
emulates an ethdev will have rte_eth_dev_configure() called,
and only after that the service will know how many queues/etc
to allocate. Once that configuration is complete, the service
marks itself as ready using rte_service_component_runstate_set().

This feature request results from prototyping services, and
requiring a flag in each service to note "internal" readyness.
Instead that logic is now lifted to the service library.

The unit tests have been updated to test the component runstate.

8edc9aaaf2 service: use id in get by name function
This commit reworks the service_get_by_name() function to
accept an integer, and removes the service_get_by_id() function.

All functions now accept an integer argument representing the
service, so it is no longer required to expose the service_spec
pointers to the application.

This commit reworks the API to move from two separate start
and stop functions, to a "runstate" API which allows setting
the runstate. The is_running API is replaced with an function
to query the runstate. The runstate functions take a id value
for service. Unit tests and the eventdev sw pmd are updated.

a894d4815f service: return integer service id from register
This commit reworks the service register function to accept
an extra parameter. The parameter is a uint32_t *, which when
provided will be set to the integer service_id that the newly
registered service is represented by.

This is useful for services that wish to validate settings at
a later point in time - they need to know their own service id.

This commit updates the eventdev sw pmd, as well as unit tests
to use the new register API.

519d2e3b3d service: use id in lcore to service map functions
This commit updates the APIs exposed to map service cores and
services. The previous APIs required a pointer to a service,
and used two separate functions for enable and disable. The
new API uses an integer ID for the service and has a parameter
for map or unmap. Unit tests are updated and passing, and the
map file is updated to the new function names.

6f62f3cf3a service: use id in probe and get name
This commit adds a macro to easily validate a service ID, and then
lookup the service pointer, or return a user-specified error code.
This macro will be heavily used in the following patches as it will
be ID based instead of pointer-based.

The probe_capability function is reworked to use an integer ID instead
of a pointer. Rework the service_get_name() function is updated to use
IDs. Unit tests are updated to keep things compiling after each commit.

8d3708efec test/bonding: fix memory corruptions
There were double-free problems in some test cases, which will cause
a duplicated mbuf will be added into mempool.  After double-free,
some new allocated mbuf will hold a same address and thus cause the
memory corruption.

Another minor issue is that in some test cases, allocated mbuf will
not be released after test case exits.  Hopefully these leaked mbuf
will be released by the next test case in its setup phase when
stopping the virtual pmd ports, while this do is a memory leak of
the exited test case.

To fix above 2 issues, this patch will do:
1) Release virtual pmd ports' tx queue in the clean up function
   remove_slaves_and_stop_bonded_device() of each test cases.
2) Do not release allocated mbufs for test bursts.  These mbufs
   will be released in remove_slaves_and_stop_bonded_device() when
   test case exits.

9333cfba3b cryptodev: fix KASUMI F9 expected parameters
For KASUMI F9 algorithm, COUNT, FRESH and DIRECTION
input values need to be contiguous with
the message, as described in the KASUMI and QAT PMD
documentation.

Before, the COUNT and FRESH values were set
as part of the AAD (now IV), but always set before
the beginning of the message.
Since now the IV is set after the crypto operation,
it is not possible to have these values in the
expected location.

Therefore, as these are required to be contiguous,
cryptodev API will expect these them to be passed
as a single buffer, already constructed, so
authentication IV parameters not needed anymore.

QAT supports authentication only operations,

39f403e0d5 devargs: restore device type API
Revert "devargs: make device types generic"

This commit broke the rte_devargs API by changing the meaning of
the rte_devtype enum.

Restore the previous API, unit tests and function calls.
Introduce parallel enum that acts as translation between previous API
and current structures.

Restoring the previous API means that -w and -b are not usable anymore
with any bus having implemented the "parse" operation. Only PCI devices
can be used with -w and -b, virtual devices are declared using vdev.

This (partially) reverts commit bd279a7936.

f038a81e1c service: add unit tests
Add a bunch of unit tests, to ensure that the service
core functions are operating as expected.

As part of these tests a dummy service is registered which
allows identifying if a service callback has been invoked
by using the CPU tick counter. This allows identifying if
functions to start and stop service lcores are actually having
effect.

Because accuracy of timing to the microsecond is not guaranteed
in rte_eal_alarm_set, this function will not be called before

b3bbd9e5f2 cryptodev: support device independent sessions
Change crypto device's session management to make it
device independent and simplify architecture when session
is intended to be used on more than one device.

Sessions private data is agnostic to underlying device
by adding an indirection in the sessions private data
using the crypto driver identifier.
A single session can contain indirections to multiple device types.

New function rte_cryptodev_sym_session_init has been created,
to initialize the driver private session data per driver to be
used on a same session, and rte_cryptodev_sym_session_clear
to clear this data before calling rte_cryptodev_sym_session_free.

2c59bd32b7 cryptodev: do not create session mempool internally
Instead of creating the session mempool while configuring
the crypto device, apps will create the mempool themselves.
This way, it gives flexibility to the user to have a single
mempool for all devices (as long as the objects are big
enough to contain the biggest private session size) or
separate mempools for different drivers.

Also, since the mempool is now created outside the
device configuration function, now it needs to be passed
through this function, which will be eventually passed
when setting up the queue pairs, as ethernet devices do.

7a364faef1 cryptodev: remove crypto device type enumeration
Changes device type identification to be based on a unique
driver id replacing the current device type enumeration, which needed
library changes every time a new crypto driver was added.

The driver id is assigned dynamically during driver registration using
the new macro RTE_PMD_REGISTER_CRYPTO_DRIVER which returns a unique
uint8_t identifier for that driver. New APIs are also introduced
to allow retrieval of the driver id using the driver name.

AES-GMAC is an authentication algorithm, based on AES-GCM
without encryption. To simplify its usage, now it can be used
setting the authentication parameters, without requiring
to concatenate a ciphering transform.

Therefore, it is not required to set AAD, but authentication
data length and offset, giving the user the option
to have Scatter-Gather List in the input buffer,
as long as the driver supports it.

For wireless algorithms (SNOW3G, KASUMI, ZUC),
the IV for the authentication algorithms (F9, UIA2 and EIA3)
was taken from the AAD parameter, as there was no IV parameter

Now that IV is available for all algorithms, there is need
to keep doing this, so AAD is not used for these algorithms
anymore.

Single-link optimized ports previously did not correctly track
credits when dequeued, and re-enqueued as a FORWARD type. This
could "inflate" the number of credits in the system.

A unit test is added to reproduce and verify the issue, and the
fixed implementation counts FORWARD packets, and reduces the
number of credits the port has if it is of single-link type.

0e1eadd0d6 event/sw: add queue-to-port stats
This commit adds a new statistic to the SW eventdev PMD.
The statistic shows how many packets were sent from a
queue to a port. This provides information on how traffic
from a specific queue is being load-balanced to worker cores.

Note that these numbers should be compared across all queue
stages - the load-balancing does not try to perfectly share

from all queues to the ports.

The statistic is printed from the rte_eventdev_dump() function,
as well as being made available via the xstats API.

Unit tests have been updated to expect more per-queue statistics,
and the correctness of counts and counts after reset is verified.

13916d5e7c test/bonding: remove socket id check
When creating a virtual pmd to test link bonding,
the socket id was checked, if it was in the range
of available sockets.
This check is unnecessary, as the socket specified
might not have memory anyway, so it will fail
at memory allocation.

Therefore, the best solution is to remove this check.

Mempool_perf autotest currently does perf regression for:
 * nochache
 * cache

Introducing default_pool, mainly targeted for ext-mempool regression
test. Ext-mempool don't need 'cache' modes so only adding test-case
support for 'nocache' mode.

So to run ext-mempool perf regression, user has to set
RTE_MBUF_DEFAULT_MEMPOOL_OPS="<>"

There is chance of duplication  ie.. if user sets

RTE_MBUF_DEFAULT_MEMPOOL_OPS="ring_mp_mc" then regression
will happen twice for 'ring_mp_mc'

d70ab606a6 test/eventdev: pass timeout ticks unsupported
This commit reworks the return value handling of the
timeout ticks test. This feature is not mandatory for
a pmd, the eventdev layer returns -ENOTSUP if the PMD
doesn't implement the function.

The test is modified to check if the return value is
-ENOTSUP, and return -ENOTSUP to the test framework,
which can handle "unsupported" tests since patch[1].

As such, this test will function correctly if the
patchset linked below is applied, it fails if the
patch is not applied and the PMD doesn't the timeout
ticks function.

Note it does not depend (as a compile time dependency)
on the patchset linked below.

The software eventdev can lock-up if not all queues are
linked to a port. For this reason, the software evendev
fails to start if queues are not linked to anything.

This commit creates dummy links from all queues to port
0 in the eventdev setup function and start/stop test,
which would otherwise fail due to unlinked queues.

This commit adds support to the cfgfile library for parsing a key=value
line that has no value string specified (e.g., "key=").  This can be used
to override a configuration attribute that has a default value or default
list of values to set it back to an undefined value to disable
functionality.

f3b1a6981f cfgfile: support configurable comment character
The current cfgfile comment character is hardcoded to ';'.  This commit a
new API to allow the user to specify which comment character to use while
parsing the file.

This is to ease adoption by applications that have an existing
configuration file which may use a different comment character.  For
instance, an application may already have a configuration file that uses
the '#' as the comment character.

The approach of using a new API with an extensible parameters structure was
used rather than simply adding a new argument to the existing API to allow
for additional arguments to be introduced in the future.

1a5efe7499 cfgfile: support global properties section
The current implementation of the cfgfile library requires that all
key=value pairs be within [SECTION] definitions.  The ini file standard
allows for key=value pairs in an unnamed section.

This commit adds the capability of parsing key=value pairs from such an
unnamed section. The CFG_FLAG_GLOBAL_SECTION flag must be passed to the
rte_cfgfile_load() API to enable this functionality.  Any key=value pairs
found before the first section can be accessed in the section named
"GLOBAL".

cfa7c9e6fc ring: make bulk and burst return values consistent
The bulk fns for rings returns 0 for all elements enqueued and negative
for no space. Change that to make them consistent with the burst functions
in returning the number of elements enqueued/dequeued, i.e. 0 or N.
This change also allows the return value from enq/deq to be used directly
without a branch for error checking.

c0de0eb82e distributor: switch over to new API
This is the main switch over between the legacy API and the new
burst API. We rename all the functions in rte_distributor.c to remove
the _v1705, and we add in _v20 in the rte_distributor_v20.c

We also rename the rte_distributor_next.h as rte_distributor.h, as
this is now the public header.

At the same time, we need the autotests and sample app to compile
properly, hence those changes are in this patch also.

feb9f680cd mk: optimize directory dependencies
Before this patch, the management of dependencies between directories
had several issues:

- the generation of .depdirs, done at configuration is slow: it can take
  more than one minute on some slow targets (usually ~10s on a standard
  PC without -j).

- for instance, it is possible to express a dependency like:
  - app/foo depends on lib/librte_foo
  - and lib/librte_foo depends on app/bar
  But this won't work because the directories are traversed with a
  depth-first algorithm, so we have to choose between doing 'app' before
  or after 'lib'.

- the script depdirs-rule.sh is too complex.

- we cannot use "make -d" for debug, because the output of make is used for
  the generation of .depdirs.

This patch moves the DEPDIRS-* variables in the upper Makefile, making
the dependencies much easier to calculate. A DEPDIRS variable is still
used to process library dependencies in LDLIBS.

After this commit, "make config" is almost immediate.

9d5ca53239 examples: fix optind reset
The variable optind should be reset to one not zero.

From the man page:
"The variable optind is the index of the next element to be processed in
argv.  The system initializes this value to 1.
The caller can reset it to 1 to restart scanning of the same argv, or when
scanning a new argument vector.”

The problem I saw with my application was trying to parse the wrong
option, which can happen as DPDK parses the first part of the command line
and the application parses the second part. If you call getopt() multiple
times in the same execution, the behavior is not maintained when using
zero for optind.
