f9acaf84e9 replace snprintf with strlcpy without adding extra include
For files that already have rte_string_fns.h included in them, we can
do a straight replacement of snprintf(..."%s",...) with strlcpy. The
changes in this patch were auto-generated via command:

spatch --sp-file devtools/cocci/strlcpy-with-header.cocci --dir . --in-place

b543d1a715 compat: merge compat library into EAL
Since compat library is only a single header, we can easily move it into
the EAL common headers instead of tracking it separately. The downside of
this is that it becomes a little more difficult to have any libs that are
built before EAL depend on it. Thankfully, this is not a major problem as
the only library which uses rte_compat.h and is built before EAL (kvargs)
already has the path to the compat.h header file explicitly called out as
an include path.

However, to ensure that we don't hit problems later with this, we can add
EAL common headers folder to the global include list in the meson build
which means that all common headers can be safely used by all libraries, no
matter what their build order.

As a side-effect, this patch also fixes an issue with building on BSD using
meson, due to compat lib no longer needing to be listed as a dependency.

c10cdce180 ethdev: support MAC address as iterator filter
The MAC addresses of a port can be matched with devargs.

As the conflict between rte_ether.h and netinet/ether.h is not resolved,
the MAC parsing is done with a rte_cmdline function.
As a result, cmdline library becomes a dependency of ethdev.

b94fcf6bdf cmdline: standardize conversion of IP address strings
The code to convert IPv4 and IPv6 address strings into a binary format
(inet_ntop) was included in the cmdline library because the DPDK was
historically compiled in environments where the standard inet_ntop()
function is not available. Today, this is not the case and the standard
inet_ntop() can be used.

This patch removes the internal inet_ntop*() functions and their
specific license.

There is a small functional impact: IP addresses like 012.34.56.78
are not valid anymore.

2acf7432ad cmdline: fix dynamic tokens parsing
When using dynamic tokens, the result buffer contains pointers to some
location inside the result buffer. When the content of the temporary
buffer is copied in the final one, these pointers still point to the
temporary buffer.

This works until the temporary buffer is kept intact, but the next
commit introduces a memset() that breaks this assumption.

This commit keeps the successfully parsed buffers, and ensures that the
pointers point to the valid location, by using temp buffer for following
parsing.

0d440d081c lib: fix missing includes in exported headers
Many exported headers rely on definitions found in rte_config.h without
including it, as shown by the following command:

 grep -L '^#include <rte_config.h>' -- \
  $(grep -Rl \
    $(sed -n '/^#define \([^ ]\+\).*$/{s//\1/;H;};${x;s/\n//;s/\n/\\|/g;p;}' \
      build/include/rte_config.h) \
    -- build/include/)

We cannot assume external applications will include rte_config.h on their
own, neither directly nor through a -include parameter like DPDK does
internally.

This not only causes obvious compilation failures that can be reproduced
with check-includes.sh such as:

[...]/rte_memory.h:88:43: error: ‘RTE_CACHE_LINE_SIZE’ was not declared in
     this scope
  #define __rte_cache_aligned __rte_aligned(RTE_CACHE_LINE_SIZE)
                                            ^

It also results in less visible issues, for instance rte_hash_crc.h relying
on RTE_ARCH_X86_64's presence to provide dedicated inline functions.

This patch partially reverts the commit below and adds missing include
lines to the remaining files.

a9510e11ad cmdline: fix dynamic tokens interface
Support for dynamic tokens was added in order to implement the flow command
in testpmd, for which static tokens were not versatile enough due to the
large number of possible parameter combinations.

However, due to its reliance on a temporary array to store dynamic tokens,
this interface suffers from various limitations that need to be addressed
in order to implement more commands in the future:

- The maximum number of dynamic tokens is determined at compilation time
(CMDLINE_PARSE_DYNAMIC_TOKENS). The larger this value, the more stack
space is wasted (one pointer per potential token, i.e. 1kB of stack space
on 64-bit architectures with the default value).

- This temporary array is actually a cache in which entries already present
are not regenerated. This behavior is not documented, which makes dynamic
tokens practically unusable by applications as they do not know which
  token is current.

- The cache does not really reduce the number of function calls needed to
retrieve tokens, it was mainly deemed useful to provide context about
other tokens to the generator callback.

- Like testpmd, most users will likely use repeated pointers to a fixed
token header structure (cmdline_token_hdr_t), with internal context-aware
callbacks that do not need to look at other entries; knowing the index of
  the current token is enough.

Getting rid of the temporary array and properly documenting usage of the
token generator callback greatly simplifies this interface.

f627b65cb0 cmdline: fix dynamic tokens initialization
To avoid redundant calls to the token-generating function and provide it
with helpful context, a temporary fixed-size array allocated on the stack
of cmdline_parse() and cmdline_complete() keeps the address of preceding
tokens for the command instance being processed (cmdline_parse_inst_t).

Like the static tokens array in cmdline_parse_inst_t, it must be
NULL-terminated, however this is not properly enforced as it is initialized
once at the beginning of each function and a NULL terminator is never
appended once replaced with generated tokens.

When several commands rely on dynamic tokens, subsequent ones inherit an
already initialized array whose tokens are not regenerated, which causes
various issues such as mixed and repeated tokens from the first command.

Enforcing NULL termination of the dynamic tokens array and reinitializing
its first entry at each iteration solves these issues. Doing so is also
less expensive than a full memset() at each iteration.

feb9f680cd mk: optimize directory dependencies
Before this patch, the management of dependencies between directories
had several issues:

- the generation of .depdirs, done at configuration is slow: it can take
more than one minute on some slow targets (usually ~10s on a standard
  PC without -j).

- for instance, it is possible to express a dependency like:
  - app/foo depends on lib/librte_foo
  - and lib/librte_foo depends on app/bar
But this won't work because the directories are traversed with a
depth-first algorithm, so we have to choose between doing 'app' before
  or after 'lib'.

- the script depdirs-rule.sh is too complex.

- we cannot use "make -d" for debug, because the output of make is used for
  the generation of .depdirs.

This patch moves the DEPDIRS-* variables in the upper Makefile, making
the dependencies much easier to calculate. A DEPDIRS variable is still
used to process library dependencies in LDLIBS.

After this commit, "make config" is almost immediate.

aaa662e75c cmdline: fix overflow on bsd
When using test-pmd with flow director in FreeBSD, the application will
segfault/Bus error while parsing the command-line. This is due to how
each commands result structure is represented during parsing, where the offsets
for each tokens value is stored in a character array(char result_buf[BUFSIZ])
in cmdline_parse()(./lib/librte_cmdline/cmdline_parse.c).

The overflow occurs where BUFSIZ is less than the size of a commands result
structure, in this case "struct cmd_pkt_filter_result"
(app/test-pmd/cmdline.c) is 1088 bytes and BUFSIZ on FreeBSD is 1024 bytes as
opposed to 8192 bytes on Linux.

The problem can be reproduced by running test-pmd on FreeBSD:
./testpmd -c 0x3 -n 4 -- -i --portmask=0x3 --pkt-filter-mode=perfect
And adding a filter:
add_perfect_filter 0 udp src 192.168.0.0 1024 dst 192.168.0.0 1024 flexbytes
0x800 vlan 0 queue 0 soft 0x17

This patch removes the OS dependency on BUFSIZ and defines and uses a
library #define CMDLINE_PARSE_RESULT_BUFSIZE 8192

Added boundary checking to ensure this buffer size cannot overflow, with
an error message being produced.

6f41fe75e2 eal: deprecate rte_snprintf
The function rte_snprintf serves no useful purpose. It is the
same as snprintf() for all valid inputs. Deprecate it and
replace all uses in current code.

Leave the tests for the deprecated function in place.
