the information get to the point where it can be put in the lock

1e176a8ad1 Added support for the DEC EB64PLUS systype. (Part III)
o Add the EB64PLUS systype into the kernel configuration files
and add it to the GENERIC kernel

o Correct mcclock_isa.c's dependence on cia, it should depend on isa.
This will allow avanti and eb64+ kernels to be built without the cia
  chipset support code.

f7dd86c147 Use the gensetdefs that is now in /usr/bin, it's a superset of the
one in the kernel source, and that one is already used for modules.

I don't _think_ this will hurt releases, aout-to-elf, etc, but it is
possible. In all the cases I've looked at, config(8) has been
generated straight after a make world, so if /usr/sbin/config exists and
is the right version for the kernel, then we can pretty much count on
/usr/bin/gensetdefs being there too.

b8cf6ea776 Use a fast interrupt handler for the PCI version of the cy driver
if option CY_PCI_FASTINTR is configured and mapping the irq to a
fastintr is possible. Unfortunately, this has to be optional because
pci_map_int_right() doesn't handle the INTR_EXCL flag right --
INTR_EXCL is honoured even if the interrupt needs to be non-exclusive
for other devices to work.

2ad872c579 The first stage of console driver reorganization: activate new
keyboard and video card drivers.

Because of the changes, you are required to update your kernel
configuration file now!

The files in sys/dev/syscons are still i386-specific (but less so than
before), and won't compile for alpha and PC98 yet.

syscons still directly accesses the video card registers here and
there; this will be rectified in the later stages.

86415b71f9 Back out last change to sysctl.
It was nay'ed before committing on the grounds that this is not
the way to do it, and has been decided as such several times in
the past.

There is not point in loading gobs of ascii into the kernel when
the only use of that ascii is presentation to the user.

Next thing we'd be adding all section 4 man pages to the loaded
kernel as well.

The argument about KLD's is bogus, klds can store a file in
/usr/share/doc/sysctl/dev/foo/thisvar.txt with a description and
sysctl or other facilities can pick it up there.

Proper documentation will take several K worth of text for many
sysctl variables, we don't want that in the kernel under any
circumstances.

I will welcome any well thought out attempt at improving the
situation wrt. sysctl documentation, but this wasn't it.

31188d61c1 Add driver support (and man page) for PCI fast ethernet cards based
on the ASIX AX88140A chip. Update /sys/conf/files, RELNOTES.TXT,
/sys/i388/i386/userconfig.c, sysinstall/devices.c, GENERIC and LINT
accordingly.

For now, the only board that I know of that uses this chip is the
Alfa Inc. GFC2204. (Its predecessor, the GFC2202, was a DEC tulip card.)
Thanks again to Ulf for obtaining the board for me. If anyone runs
across another, please feel free to update the man page and/or the
release notes. (The same applies for the other drivers.)

FreeBSD should now have support for all of the DEC tulip workalike
chipsets currently on the market (Macronix, Lite-On, Winbond, ASIX).
And unless I'm mistaken, it should also have support for all PCI fast
ethernet chipsets in general (except maybe the SMC FEAST chip, which
nobody seems to ever use, including SMC). Now if only we could convince
3Com, Intel or whoever to cough up some documentation for gigabit
ethernet hardware.

Also updated RELNOTEX.TXT to mention that the SVEC PN102TX is supported
by the Macronix driver (assuming you actually have an SVEC PN102TX with
a Macronix chip on it; I tried to order a PN102TX once and got a box
labeled 'Hawking Technology PN102TX' that had a VIA Rhine board inside
it).

925f368193 From the submitter:
CPU_WT_ALLOC does not work correctly for K6-2s of model 8+ and
probably K6-3s (when they appear on the market soon). In addition,
print_AMD_info() incorrectly printfs write allocation's size. I've
fixed them, so they now Do The Right Thing, and added a
"NO_MEMORY_HOLE" option to easily allow 15-16mb range handling for us
K6 and K6-2 users.

19c749625f Initial entry of ISDN4BSD into the FreeBSD tree.
ISDN4BSD is the work of our brand-new comitter: Hellmuth Michaelis,
who has done a tremendous amount of work to bring us this far.

There are still some outstanding issues and files to bring into
the tree, and for now it will be needed to pick up all the extra
docs from the isdn4bsd release.

It is probably also a very good idea to subscribe to the isdn@freebsd.org
mailing list before you try this out.

These files correspond to release "beta Version 0.70.00 / December

69acd21dfd Add support for the YE-Data external PCMCIA floppy driver. This
floppy is used on the toshiba Libretto line of subnotebook computers.
It differs from a normal floppy in that you must use PIO rather than
DMA to transfer the data.

To enable this, you must add options "FDC_YE" to your kernel. I don't
have a machine that has a floppy and a pcmcia slot to test to make
sure that this doesn't impact normal floppy units, so I've left this as
an option.

I have ported this to -current and made an attempt to ensure that the

really matter since the driver treats both chips the same
         anyway.)

if_wb.c: Trendware TE100-PCIE and various other cards based on the
Winbond W89C840F chip (the Trendware card is identical to
the sample boards Winbond sent me, so who knows how many
         clones there are running around)

All drivers include support for ifmedia, BPF and hardware multicast
filtering.

Also updated GENERIC, LINT, RELNOTES.TXT, userconfig and
sysinstall device list.

I also have a driver for the ASIX AX88140A in the works.

5b38fe900d Implement 'software completion' for floating point arithmetic. On the
alpha, operations involving non-finite numbers or denormalised numbers
or operations which should generate such numbers will cause an arithmetic
exception. For programs which follow some strict code generation rules,
the kernel trap handler can then 'complete' the operation by emulating
the faulting instruction.

To use software completion, a program must be compiled with the arguments
'-mtrap-precision=i' and '-mfp-trap-mode=su' or '-mfp-trap-mode=sui'.
Programs compiled in this way can use non-finite and denormalised numbers
at the expense of slightly less efficient code generation of floating
point instructions. Programs not compiled with these options will receive
a SIGFPE signal when non-finite or denormalised numbers are used or
generated.

9ad861edee - For some old Cyrix CPUs, %cr2 is clobbered by interrupts. This
problem is worked around by using an interrupt gate for the page
fault handler. This code was originally made for NetBSD/pc98 by
Naofumi Honda <honda@kururu.math.sci.hokudai.ac.jp> and has already
been in PC98 tree. Because of this bug, trap_fatal cannot show
correct page fault address if %cr2 is obtained in this function.
Therefore, trap_fatal uses the value from trap() function.
- The trap handler always enables interruption when buggy application
or kernel code has disabled interrupts and then trapped. This code
was prepared by Bruce Evans <bde@FreeBSD.org>.

a2c5c55001 *thwap* - move id driver to blkdev from cdev list; it's obviously
going to want a major number from that list instead. Also use the
same preallocated local range (500-600) for blkdevs as well as cdevs,
just to be orthogonal. The latter was for Brian, who has a *lot*
of local device drivers and needs more than just a single reserved
number.
