3e2d3e2621 Revert previous change, which is reported to have broken world. I
did test this through a ``make world'', but of course I already
had a working lint binary (one that does not call cpp -undef)
installed.

570080640e Fix lint for the new cpp. Lint is still broken in other ways, but
this at least allows the use of lint -i on single files again.

Fiddled rcsid to satisfy commitprep.pl; the original NetBSD tag
is still in the comments.

893618352c Handle the case where we truss an SUGID program -- in particular, we need
to wake up any processes waiting via PIOCWAIT on process exit, and truss
needs to be more aware that a process may actually disappear while it's

d355b81dd4 Don't build with X support if DESTDIR is defined. This prevents
breaking a cross-build caused by taking the X libraries on the
build machine. In general this means that we never compile with
X support. The user has to manually compile doscmd for that.

aa52177fb5 Dedocument one of the BUGS listed in the last commit. The bug (needless
calculation of line numbers) never existed and the two bugs that made me
think it existed have been fixed (see recent commits about this date to
linenum.c:r.1.3 and ch.c:r.1.8 fixing broken line-number buffering and
braindead algorithms respectively).

e965d6a895 Rather than use an LRU-ordered circular list to store buffered data,
simply keep an index into the last access on the circular list and begin
searches at that point. An LRU list is inappropriate here since the
vast majority of accesses will occur in the same order that the list
is created in. The only case where an LRU is remotely useful here is when
reading from a file and the user is jumping to randomish positions and
constantly returning to some central position. Even for this case it is
such a small optimization as not to be noticed in an interactive program
such as more(1).

This change results in a _tremendously_ noticable speed-up when reading long
files through a pipe (where long = ~200k, machine = ~2.5h single-disk
worldstone).

6e2578e4c4 Revert the libcrypt/libmd stuff back to how it was. This should not have
happened as it was working around problems elsewhere (ie: binutils/ld
not doing the right thing according to the ELF design). libcrypt has
been adjusted to not need the runtime -lmd. It's still not quite right
(ld is supposed to work damnit) but at least it doesn't impact all the
users of libcrypt in Marcel's cross-build model.

9a602acc36 Replace the -q option to pwd_mkdb with a test for PW_SCAN_BIG_IDS in
the environment. This allows big ID warnings to be suppressed for
vipw and chpass as well.

Since the environment variable test is only performed for callers
of pw_scan() that do not set pw_big_ids_warning, the test can still
be overriden. Currently, chpass and pwd_mkdb are the only users
of pw_scan() and neither of them overrides the environment variable
test.

Merge the contents (less some trivial bordering the silly comments)

the #defines for the vm_inherit_t and vm_prot_t types next to their

This paves the road for the commit to follow shortly: change
useracc() to use VM_PROT_{READ|WRITE} rather than B_{READ|WRITE}
as argument.

c3584b3b4e Allow a user specified parameter to 'yyparse()', in a manner similar to
that used by bison. The names are consistent with the bison implementation
but this one also allows the type of the parameter to be specified.

For a desired prototype of:

	int yyparse __P((struct yyresult *));

and compile like this:

	yacc -dv grammar.y
	cc -c -DYYPARSE_PARAM_TYPE="struct yyresult *" \
	      -DYYPARSE_PARAM="parm" y.tab.c

and use like this:

	${
	#include "usrtypes.h"
	#include "usrproto.h"
	}$

	%token NUMBER

	%%

	goal : NUMBER
		{
		parm->value = yylval;
		} ;

If YYPARSE_PARAM_TYPE isn't specified then "void *" is the default type.
If YYPARSE_PARAM is not specified then the generated code behaves exactly
as traditional byacc.

    Change client side ops to the number of attempted ops, whether cached or
    not, rather then just the number of rpc's that went through to the server.
    This brings nfsstat inline with systat -vm and vmstat and reduces
    confusion. The combined cache percentage stats now available via
    'nfsstat -cW 1' becomes very useful.

535b692091 Unbreak doscmd after the sigset_t change:
doscmd heavily depends on struct sigcontext which luckily is mostly passed
between functions as usion regcontext_t. By redefining union regcontext_t in
terms of mcontext_t almost all bases are covered.

It also seems to me that doscmd was in a transitional state. The redundant
definitions made it difficult to get a clear overview and could easily cause
oversight. To make sure my changes were ok, I went as far as to complete the
transition. It was not exactly necessary, but I expect to have to come back
here some more ("whistle" if I'm wrong :-).

3cf3c5d9dd sigset_t change (part 5 of 5)
-----------------------------

Most of the userland changes are in libc. For both the alpha
and the i386 setjmp has been changed to accomodate for the
new sigset_t. Internally, libc is mostly rewritten to use the
new syscalls. The exception is in compat-43/sigcompat.c

The POSIX thread library has also been rewritten to use the
new sigset_t. Except, that it currently only handles NSIG
signals instead of the maximum _SIG_MAXSIG. This should not
be a problem because current applications don't use any
signals higher than NSIG.

There are version bumps for the following libraries:
  libdialog
  libreadline
  libc
  libc_r
  libedit
  libftpio
  libss

These libraries either a) have one of the modified structures
visible in the interface, or b) use sigset_t internally and
may cause breakage if new binaries are used against libraries
that don't have the sigset_t change. This not an immediate
issue, but will be as soon as applications start using the
new range to its fullest.

NOTE: libncurses already had an version bump and has not been
      given one now.

NOTE: doscmd is a real casualty and has been disconnected for
      the moment. Reconnection will eventually happen after
      doscmd has been fixed. I'm aware that being the last one
      to touch it, I'm automaticly promoted to being maintainer.
      According to good taste this means that I will receive a
      badge which either will be glued or mechanically stapled,
      drilled or otherwise violently forced onto me :-)

NOTE: pcvt/vttest cannot be compiled with -traditional. The
      change cause sys/types to be included along the way which
      contains the const and volatile modifiers. I don't consider
      this a solution, but more a workaround.

4aaa4f952a Allow 'make' to check out elements within archive libraries.
"Make no longer properly parses archive files, so using archive members
      as make targets, as described in PSD:12 section 4.2, does not work."

Really should be merged into 3.3 before we ship if we can..
it's a trivial fix.

c644db6aa2 Improve shell documentation:
* Consistently misspell built-in as builtin.

* Add a builtin(1) manpage and create builtin(1) MLINKS for all shell
  builtin commands for which no standalone utility exists. These MLINKS
  replace those that were created for csh(1).

* Add appropriate xrefs for builtin(1) to the csh(1) and sh(1) manpages,
  as well as to the manpages of standalone utilities which are supported
  as shell builtin commands in at least one of the shells. In such
  manpages, explain that similar functionality may be provided as a
  shell builtin command.

* Improve sh(1)'s description of the cd builtin command. Csh(1) already
  describes it adequately. Replace the cd(1) manpage with a builtin(1)
  MLINKS link.

* Clean up some mdoc problems: use Xr instead of literal "foo(n)"; use
  Ic instead of Xr for shell builtin commands.

* Undo English contractions.
