692067737c Pull the following fix in from 1.X:
revision 1.6
date: 1993/10/19 19:57:35; author: rgrimes; state: Exp; lines: +2 -1
Pull in ../Makefile.inc so that the whatis database ends up in the correct
place. Rich Murphy has a better fix for this, but I lost it!

18f96a7446 Rearrange this a bit while I think about the whole problem of fetching
multiple targets when dealing with creating a set of distribution files
from scratch. Another problem is *verifying* that a given file fetched
from its HOME_LOCATION is the one we wanted (what if the stupid ftp site
maintainer updated it in place?). Rich Morin pointed this out and suggested
some solutions. I need to think about it some more (suggestions?).

For now, we have a seperate `fetch' and `extract' target.

6cf02f12cc [ From Dave Tweten ]
POSIX.2 looks pretty unequivocal to me, and it agrees with you.

Under the explanation of the "-p" option, it says, "Each dir operand that
names an existing directory shall be ignored without error." Under the
explanation of exit status zero, it says, "All the specified directories were
created successfully, or the-p option was specified and all the specified
directories now exist."

Seems to me POSIX requires exactly the behavior you want.

[ And I've made the change, which is also now compatible with 1.x - jkh ]

134df3f722 From 1.1.5.1
>From Arne Bier <csar@cs.ru.ac.za>
while running more(1), if you enter ":a" to get the name of the file being
viewed, more dumps core when you hit enter (as prompted).
This is due to more(1) attempting to find the length of a NULL string.

7ca8cf71da Based on fix from 1.1.5.1:
>From: jtk@atria.com (John T. Kohl)
in rcmd:
It calls select() with a hardcoded "number of file descriptors" argument
of 32, rather than computing it based on the sockets about which it
cares.

- Now we work out the nfds arg, and do some error checking

b186b56427 Get all the definitions from DEFS.h and not directly from asmacros.h
if KERNEL is not defined. lib/msun/i387/*.S include asmacros.h to
get the definitions of ENTRY(), etc. This is bogus since asmacros.h
is only supposed to give definitions suitable for the kernel. The
current definitions for the kernel almost worked but are missing
the ".type" declarations. This caused the linker to print warnings
about doubtful relocations for almost anything linked to libm[sun].

Uniformize name and use of idempotence identifier.

b0b76e7d37 Remove <machine/eflags.h> and all dependencies on it. eflags.h is just
the Mach/i386 version of the BSD/vax(?) <machine/psl.h>. The Mach
version has slightly better names for many macros but is now out of
date and little used. It was originally used even less (for spelling
PSL_T as EFL_TF in <machine/db_machdep.h>).

2668a71e31 Declare huge and tiny as volatile so that gcc doesn't evaluate huge*huge
and tiny*tiny at compile time. The evaluations are supposed to be done
at run time to set the IEEE exception flags. Many other source files
in libm and msun are missing this fix. Fixing them is not urgent since
the default IEEE exception masks don't allow use of the overflow
exception flag.

e72aa872ea 1. Make CLEANFILES a little less dangerous by being more spcifc about
some file names.

2. Add MAKEDEVS= that does all the /dev population so that this is not
duplicated in 2 or 3 places. Helps to keep it in sync too. Cleaned
up and fixed to not overflow inode tables.

3. Fix paths to the 2 crypt versions.

4. Init is sbin/init now instead of sbin/init.bsdi.

5. bdes is now in secure/usr.bin, will need to do something about telnet.

6. Incorporate 1.1.5.1 patches for EXTRACT.sh files.

7. Correct calls to make kcopy-flooppy to work with or without obj/.

8. Reorder src-clean: target so that it does not destroy the real obj
tree, but does rip out junk and obj links.

9. Incorporate 1.1.5.1 patche for srcbin tarball name.

10. Add chflags command to release-dirs target so the rm -rf can have a
    chance to work.

With this and a few more commits I will have 2.0 bin tarballs.

174221e60a Undo the damage done to my previous changes. Whoever added the
conditional did it backwards, thus flipping the behavior back off
again by default (and only re-enableable through a very counter-intuitive
option setting!). I'm glad I caught this and would merely like to state
again for the record that if you're going to go and modify my changes then
you should at least:

	1. Do it correctly, since to do otherwise is kind of a slap in the
	   face.

	2. TELL me.

This is not me just being compulsive, this is simple courtesy.
I'm speaking just of my own preferences here, not necessarily trying
to impose my standards on the group at large (e.g. some other folks might
not even care).
