cb056611a8 eal: rename lcore master and slave
Replace master lcore with main lcore and
replace slave lcore with worker lcore.

Keep the old functions and macros but mark them as deprecated
for this release.

The "--master-lcore" command line option is also deprecated
and any usage will print a warning and use "--main-lcore"
as replacement.

ce6b8c3154 examples: fix port mask parsing failure handling
Giving invalid or zero portmask as command line option to
these applications will have an unexpected response.
The reason behind this is that the return value of function
that parses portmask is stored in a variable whose datatype is
unsigned int, hence returning -1 in case of zero or
invalid portmask causes an unexpected behaviour.
If we return 0 instead of -1 this issue can be resolved.
The program already contains the functionality to print
"invalid portmask" and program usage if zero is returned.

e2de1f7bb9 examples/l3fwd: add framework for event device
Add framework to enable event device as a producer of packets.
To switch between event mode and poll mode the following options
have been added:
	`--mode="eventdev"` or `--mode="poll"`
Allow the user to select the schedule type to be either
RTE_SCHED_TYPE_ORDERED, RTE_SCHED_TYPE_ATOMIC or RTE_SCHED_TYPE_PARALLEL
through:
	`--eventq-sched="ordered"` or `--eventq-sched="atomic"` or
		`--eventq-sched="parallel"`
Allow the user to specify the number of Rx queues to be connected to
event queue using:
	`--event-eth-rxqs`

Poll mode is still the default operation mode.

f0a26885b3 examples/l3fwd: support separate buffer pool per port
Traditionally, only a single buffer pool per port
(or, per-port-per-socket) is created in l3fwd application.

If separate pools are created per-port, it might lead to gain in
performance as packet alloc/dealloc requests would be isolated
across ports (and their corresponding lcores).

This patch adds an argument '--per-port-pool' to the l3fwd application.
By default, old mode of single pool per port (split on sockets) is
active.

L3fwd user guide is also updated by this patch.

323e7b667f ethdev: make default behavior CRC strip on Rx
Removed DEV_RX_OFFLOAD_CRC_STRIP offload flag.
Without any specific Rx offload flag, default behavior by PMDs is to
strip CRC.

PMDs that support keeping CRC should advertise DEV_RX_OFFLOAD_KEEP_CRC
Rx offload capability.

Applications that require keeping CRC should check PMD capability first
and if it is supported can enable this feature by setting
DEV_RX_OFFLOAD_KEEP_CRC in Rx offload flag in rte_eth_dev_configure()

4f5701f28b examples: fix RSS hash function configuration
ethdev layer introduced checks for application requested RSS hash
functions and returns error for ones unsupported by hardware

This check breaks some sample applications which blindly configures
RSS hash functions without checking underlying hardware support.

Updated examples to mask out unsupported RSS has functions during device
configuration.
Prints a log if configuration values updated by this check.

In DPDK 17.11, the ethdev offloads API has changed:
	commit cba7f53b717d ("ethdev: introduce Tx queue offloads API")
	commit ce17eddefc20 ("ethdev: introduce Rx queue offloads API")
The new API is documented in the programmer's guide:
	http://doc.dpdk.org/guides/prog_guide/poll_mode_drv.html#hardware-offload

For reminder, the main concepts in the new API were:
	- All offloads are disabled by default
	- Distinction between per port and per queue offloads.

The transition bits are now removed:
	- Translation of the old API in ethdev
	- rte_eth_conf.rxmode.ignore_offload_bitfield
	- ETH_TXQ_FLAGS_IGNORE

The old API bits are now removed:
	- Rx per-port rte_eth_conf.rxmode.[bit-fields]
	- Tx per-queue rte_eth_txconf.txq_flags
	- ETH_TXQ_FLAGS_NO*

    - all allocated ports are available to the application

Such application iterates over ports by its own mean.
The most common pattern is to request the port count and
assume ports with index in the range [0..count[ can be used.

In order to fix this common mistake in all external applications,
the function rte_eth_dev_count is deprecated, while introducing
the new functions rte_eth_dev_count_avail and rte_eth_dev_count_total.

must be fixed to use the function rte_eth_dev_is_valid_port.

c53a5faf7e examples/l3fwd: set CLI back to Unix style
The l3fwd program became chatty, and the code looks cluttered in
recent versions. DPDK programs should try for Unix (not VMS) style
and not print messages for the options user selected. Also, errors should
be printed on stderr. To make it easier to find code matching error
messages; error strings should be placed in situ rather than saved
as string vaiables.

f8244c6399 ethdev: increase port id range
Extend port_id definition from uint8_t to uint16_t in lib and drivers
data structures, specifically rte_eth_dev_data. Modify the APIs,
drivers and app using port_id at the same time.

Fix some checkpatch issues from the original code and remove some
unnecessary cast operations.

release_17_11 and deprecation docs have been updated in this patch.

60da774e6e examples: enable HW CRC strip by default
Since VF can not disable/enable HW CRC strip for non-DPDK PF drivers,
and kernel driver almost default enable that feature, if disable it in
example app's rxmode, VF driver will report the VF launch failure. So
this patch default to enable HW CRC strip to let VF launch successful.

9d5ca53239 examples: fix optind reset
The variable optind should be reset to one not zero.

From the man page:
"The variable optind is the index of the next element to be processed in
argv.  The system initializes this value to 1.
The caller can reset it to 1 to restart scanning of the same argv, or when
scanning a new argument vector.”

The problem I saw with my application was trying to parse the wrong
option, which can happen as DPDK parses the first part of the command line
and the application parses the second part. If you call getopt() multiple
times in the same execution, the behavior is not maintained when using
zero for optind.

71a7e2424e examples/l3fwd: fix using packet type blindly
As a example to use ptype info, l3fwd needs firstly to use
rte_eth_dev_get_supported_ptypes() API to check if device and/or
its PMD driver will parse and fill the needed packet type; if not,
use the newly added option, --parse-ptype, to analyze it in the
callback softly.

As the mode of EXACT_MATCH uses the 5 tuples to caculate hash, so
we narrow down its scope to:
  a. ip packets with no extensions, and
  b. L4 payload should be either tcp or udp.

Note: this patch does not completely solve the issue, "cannot run
l3fwd on virtio or other devices", because hw_ip_checksum may be
not supported by the devices. Currently we can:
  a. remove this requirements, or
  b. wait for virtio front end (pmd) to support it.

a6b450805b examples/l3fwd: fix validation for queue id of config tuple
Added validation for queue id of config parameter tuple.

This validation enforces user to enter queue ids of a port
from 0 and in sequence.

This additional validation on queue ids avoids ixgbe crash caused
by null rxq pointer access inside ixgbe_dev_rx_init.

Reason for null rxq is, L3fwd application allocates memory only for
queues passed by user. But rte_eth_dev_start tries to initialize rx
queues in sequence from 0 to nb_rx_queues,
which is not true and coredump while accessing the unallocated queue .

52c97adc1f examples/l3fwd: fix exact match performance
It seems that for the most use cases, previous hash_multi_lookup provides
better performance, and more, sequential lookup can cause significant
performance drop.

This patch sets previously optional hash_multi_lookup method as default.
It also provides some minor optimizations such as queue drain only on used
tx ports.

Enable NEON support in exact match mode.
l3fwd example did not compile on ARM due to SSE2 instrincics used
in generic part.
Some instrinsins were used to initialize data structures and those were
replaced by ordinary structure initalization.
All SSE2 intrinsics used in forwarding, i.e. masking the IP/TCP header
are moved to single inline function and made arch-specific.

268888b5b0 examples/l3fwd: modularize
The main problem with l3fwd is that it is too monolithic with everything
being in one file, and the various options all controlled by compile time
flags. This means that it's hard to read and understand, and when making
any changes, you need to go to a lot of work to try and ensure you cover
all the code paths, since a compile of the app will not touch large parts
of the l3fwd codebase.

Following changes were done to fix the issues mentioned above

- Split out the various lpm and hash specific functionality into separate
  files, so that l3fwd code has one file for common code e.g. args
  processing, mempool creation, and then individual files for the various
  forwarding approaches.

  Following are new file lists
	  main.c (Common code for args processing, memppol creation, etc)
	  l3fwd_em.c (Hash/Exact match aka 'EM' functionality)
	  l3fwd_em_sse.h (SSE4_1 buffer optimizated 'EM' code)
	  l3fwd_lpm.c (Longest Prefix Match aka 'LPM' functionality)
	  l3fwd_lpm_sse.h (SSE4_1 buffer optimizated 'LPM' code)
	  l3fwd.h (Common include for 'EM' and 'LPM')

- The choosing of the lpm/hash path should be done at runtime, not
  compile time, via a command-line argument. This will ensure that
  both code paths get compiled in a single go

  Following examples show runtime options provided

  Select 'LPM' or 'EM' based on run time selection f.e.
                > l3fwd -c 0x1 -n 1 -- -p 0x1 -E ... (EM)
                > l3fwd -c 0x1 -n 1 -- -p 0x1 -L ... (LPM)
  Options "E" and "L" are mutualy-exclusive.
  If none selected, "L" is default.
