822a51b396 bthidd: Consider usage ranges when dealing with array inputs.
So far, we were always using HID_USAGE() to determine the Usage ID of a
certain HID report input item. This does not work as intended if a field
is an array and the allowed usages are specified with a usage range, as
HID_USAGE() will return 0. We need to use the field value as an index in
the usage range list in this case instead.

This makes the volume keys in a Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard
5000 be properly recognized. The relevant part of the HID report looks
like this:

  0xA1, 0x01, // Collection (Application)
  0x85, 0x07, // Report ID (7)
  0x05, 0x0C, // Usage Page (Consumer)
  0x19, 0x00, // Usage Minimum (Unassigned)
  0x2A, 0xFF, 0x03, // Usage Maximum (0x03FF)
  0x95, 0x01, // Report Count (1)
  0x75, 0x10, // Report Size (16)
  0x15, 0x00, // Logical Minimum (0)
  0x27, 0xFF, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00, // Logical Maximum (1023)
  0x81, 0x00, // Input (Data,Array,Abs,No Wrap,Linear,Preferred
                     //   State,No Null Position)

When a key such as "volume down" is pressed, the following data is
transferred through Interrupt In:

  0x07 0xEA 0x00

ba22fa80f2 Add "GELI Passphrase:" prompt to boot loader.
Summary:
Add "GELI Passphrase:" prompt to boot loader.

A new loader.conf(5) option of geom_eli_passphrase_prompt="YES" will now
allow you to enter your geli(8) root-mount credentials prior to invoking
the kernel.

See check-password.4th(8) for details.

Differential Revision:	https://reviews.freebsd.org/D2105
Reviewed by:	(your name[s] here)

Relnotes:	yes

Test Plan:
Drop a head copy of check-password.4th into /boot and then apply the patch
(only the patch to /boot/check-password.4th is required; no other changes are
required but you do have to have a HEAD copy of check-password.4th to
apply the patch).

NB: The rest of your /boot files can be up to 2 years old but no older.
NB: The test won't work unless your kernel has the following change

https://svnweb.freebsd.org/base?view=revision&revision=273489

Now, put into /boot/loader.conf:

geom_eli_passphrase_prompt="YES"

and reboot.

You should be prompted for a GELI passphrase before the menu (if enabled),
just after loading loader.conf(5).

NB: It doesn't matter if you're using GELI or not. However if you are using
GELI and a sufficiently new enough release (has SVN r273489) and you entered
the proper passphrase to mount your GELI encrypted root device(s), you should
notice that the boot process did not stop (you went from loader all the way to login).

fed2d5edfc Move legacy interrupt allocation for virtio devices to common code.
There are a number of assumptions about legacy interrupts always
being available in virtio so don't allow back-ends to make the
decision to support them.

This fixes the issue seen with virtio-rnd on OpenBSD. MSI-x vectors
were not being used, and the virtio-rnd backend wasn't allocating a
legacy interrupt resulting in a bhyve assert and guest exit.

Instead, manually bootstrap pkg in the chroot, and then install the requested packages (in the chroot)

Doesn't use pkg -c, because pkg is not installed on the installer image

066a8f1411 Rewrite virtio block device driver to work asynchronously and use the block
I/O interface.

Asynchronous operation, based on r280026 change, allows to not block virtual
CPU during I/O processing, that on slow/busy storage can take seconds.
Use of recently improved block I/O interface allows to process multiple
requests same time, that improves random I/O performance on wide storages.

Benchmarks of virtual disk, backed by ZVOL on RAID10 pool of 4 HDDs, show
~3.5 times random read performance improvements, while no degradation on
linear I/O. Guest CPU usage during test dropped from 100% to almost zero.

Additionally, add the --not-running-from-cron flag they bypasses the TTY requirement, and allows freebsd-update to be invoked by orchestration frameworks, scripts, or otherwise.

d9266cbaef Add functions for parsing the iovctl config file
Add two functions for parsing the iovctl config file. The config
file is parsed using libucl[1], which accepts most YAML files and
a superset of JSON. The first function is an ad-hoc parser that
searches the file for the PF.DEVICE configuration value. We need
to know that value in order to fetch the schema from the kernel,
and we need the schema in order to be able to fully parse the file.

The second function parses the config file and validates it
against a schema. This function will exit with an error message
if any validation error occurs. If it succeeds, the configuration
is returned as an nvlist suitable for passing to the kernel.

b96bd95b85 Allow the kern.osrelease and kern.osreldate sysctl values to be set in a
jail's creation parameters. This allows the kernel version to be reliably
spoofed within the jail whether examined directly with sysctl or
indirectly with the uname -r and -K options.

The values can only be set at jail creation time, to eliminate the need
for any locking when accessing the values via sysctl.

The overridden values are inherited by nested jails (unless the config for
the nested jails also overrides the values).

There is no sanity or range checking, other than disallowing an empty
release string or a zero release date, by design. The system
administrator is trusted to set sane values. Setting values that are
newer than the actual running kernel will likely cause compatibility
problems.

11d9aa6707 Step 1 of eliminating the "games" distribution: Move binaries to /usr/bin;
update paths; and include everything in the "base" distribution.

The "games" distribution being optional made sense when there were more
games and we had small disks; but the "games-like" games were moved into
the ports tree a dozen years ago and the remaining "utility-like" games
occupy less than 0.001% of my laptop's small hard drive. Meanwhile every
new user is confronted by the question "do you want games installed" when
they they try to install FreeBSD.

The next steps will be:

2. Removing punch card (bcd, ppt), phase-of-moon (pom), clock (grdc), and
caesar cipher (caesar, rot13) utilities. I intend to keep fortune, factor,
morse, number, primes, and random, since there is evidence that those are
still being used.

3. Merging src/games into src/usr.bin.

This change will not be MFCed.

64de80195b Add a new device control utility for new-bus devices called devctl. This
allows the user to request administrative changes to individual devices
such as attach or detaching drivers or disabling and re-enabling devices.
- Add a new /dev/devctl2 character device which uses ioctls for device
requests. The ioctls use a common 'struct devreq' which is somewhat
  similar to 'struct ifreq'.
- The ioctls identify the device to operate on via a string. This
string can either by the device's name, or it can be a bus-specific
address. (For unattached devices, a bus address is the only way to
locate a device.) Bus drivers register an eventhandler to claim
unrecognized device names that the driver recognizes as a valid address.
Two buses currently support addresses: ACPI recognizes any device
in the ACPI namespace via its full path starting with "\" and
the PCI bus driver recognizes an address specification of
'pci[<domain>:]<bus>:<slot>:<func>' (identical to the PCI selector
  strings supported by pciconf).
- To make it easier to cut and paste, change the PnP location string
in the PCI bus driver to output a full PCI selector string rather
  than 'slot=<slot> function=<func>'.
- Add a devctl(3) interface in libdevctl which provides a wrapper around
the ioctls and is the preferred interface for other userland code.
- Add a devctl(8) program which is a simple wrapper around the requests
  supported by devctl(3).
- Add a device_is_suspended() function to check DF_SUSPENDED.
- Add a resource_unset_value() function that can be used to remove a
hint from the kernel environment. This is used to clear a
  hint.<driver>.<unit>.disabled hint when re-enabling a boot-time
  disabled device.

920c6cbadc CTL LUN mapping rewrite.
Replace iSCSI-specific LUN mapping mechanism with new one, working for any
ports. By default all ports are created without LUN mapping, exposing all
CTL LUNs as before. But, if needed, LUN mapping can be manually set on
per-port basis via ctladm. For its iSCSI ports ctld does it via ioctl(2).
The next step will be to teach ctld to work with FibreChannel ports also.

Respecting additional flexibility of the new mechanism, ctl.conf now allows
alternative syntax for LUN definition. LUNs can now be defined in global
context, and then referenced from targets by unique name, as needed. It
allows same LUN to be exposed several times via multiple targets.

While there, increase limit for LUNs per target in ctld from 256 to 1024.
Some initiators do not support LUNs above 255, but that is not our problem.

9745de4c2c When mountd is creating sockets, it iterates over all addresses specified
in the "hosts" array and eventually looks up the network address with
getaddrinfo(). At one point it checks for a numeric address and if it
sees one, it sets a hint parameter to force getaddrinfo to interpret the
host as a numeric address. However that hint is not cleared for subsequent
iterations of the loop and if any hosts seen after this point are host names,
getaddrinfo will fail on the name. The result of this bug is that you cannot
pass a host name to the -h flag.

Unfortunately, the first iteration will either process ::1 or 127.0.0.1,
so the flag is set on the first iteration and all host names will fail
to be processed.

The same bug applies to rpc.lockd and rpc.statd, so fix them too.

d087a39935 Simplify instruction restart logic in bhyve.
Keep track of the next instruction to be executed by the vcpu as 'nextrip'.
As a result the VM_RUN ioctl no longer takes the %rip where a vcpu should
start execution.

Also, instruction restart happens implicitly via 'vm_inject_exception()' or
explicitly via 'vm_restart_instruction()'. The APIs behave identically in
both kernel and userspace contexts. The main beneficiary is the instruction
emulation code that executes in both contexts.

bhyve(8) VM exit handlers now treat 'vmexit->rip' and 'vmexit->inst_length'
as readonly:
- Restarting an instruction is now done by calling 'vm_restart_instruction()'
  as opposed to setting 'vmexit->inst_length' to 0 (e.g. emulate_inout())
- Resuming vcpu at an arbitrary %rip is now done by setting VM_REG_GUEST_RIP
  as opposed to changing 'vmexit->rip' (e.g. vmexit_task_switch())

7a37b5fc17 Add a ${CP} alias for copying files in the build.
Some users build FreeBSD as non-root in Perforce workspaces. By default,
Perforce sets files read-only unless they're explicitly being edited.
As a result, the -f argument must be used to cp in order to override the

'cp' should be avoided in the future.

7e654612dc Strip trailing / characters from paths in "not present" index entries, not
just "directory" entries.

Prior to this commit, if / was added as part of a security update (how? In
the most recent case, because lib32 was accidentally omitted and was then
re-added, and every installer distribution set gets its own paths) then
the code which was supposed to filter out updates to deleted parts of the
base system (if someone decides to delete / then we shouldn't re-create it
for them) would instead get confused and decided that while / should exist,
// should not exist and needs to be removed.

This fixes the bug which caused freebsd-update to want to delete / (which is
harmless, since `rm /` fails, but scary nonetheless). A workaround is being
applied to the update bits in order to avoid triggering the bug on unpatched
systems.

4ff1fc3b17 In bsdinstall's distextract, replace mixed_gauge() of dialog(3) with
new dpv(3) wrapper to dialog(3) dialog_gauge(). The dpv(3) library provides
a more flexible and refined interface similar to dialog_mixedgauge() however
is implemented atop the more generalized dialog_gauge() for portability.
Noticeable improvements in bsdinstall's distextract will be a status line
showing data rate information (with support for localeconv(3) to format
numbers according to $LANG or $LC_ALL conversion information), i18n support,
improved auto-sizing of gauge widget, a ``wheel barrow'' to keep the user
informed that things are moving (even if status/progress has not changed),
improved color support (mini-progress bars use the same color, if enabled,
as the main gauge bar), and several other improvements (some not visible).
dpv stands for "dialog progress view" (dpv was introduced in SVN r274116).

34961f407d Add configuration options to override physical and UNMAP blocks geometry.
While in most cases CTL should correctly fetch those values from backing
storages, there are some initiators (like MS SQL), that may not like large
physical block sizes, even if they are true. For such cases allow override
fetched values with supported ones (like 4K).

d0ff09c9c0 Add "-media" autofs map, to access data on removable media, such as CD
drives or flash keys. It can be enabled by uncommenting a single entry
in default /etc/auto_master. It can also be easily modified to use
fuse-based filesystems instead of in-kernel ones.

There is still one deficiency - the mountpoints are permanent, they
don't disappear when user removes the media. Fixing it needs some
autofs changes.

bfbfc4a3cb Count consecutive read requests as blocking in CTL for files and ZVOLs.
Technically read requests can be executed in any order or simultaneously
since they are not changing any data. But ZFS prefetcher goes crasy when
it receives consecutive requests from different threads. Since prefetcher
works on level of separate blocks, instead of two consecutive 128K requests
it may receive 32 8K requests in mixed order.

This patch is more workaround then a real fix, and it does not fix all of
prefetcher problems, but it improves sequential read speed by 3-4x times
in some configurations. On the other side it may hurt performance if
some backing store has no prefetch, that is why it is disabled by default
for raw devices.

These warnings occur because both preferred_time and pfx_pltimeexpire
are uint32_t's, so the subtraction expression is also unsigned, and
calling abs() is a no-op.

However, the intention was to look at the absolute difference between
the two unsigned quantities. Introduce a small static function to
clarify what we're doing, and call that instead.

dad6df6124 Default to use 10 seconds as nap interval instead of 1.
Previously, we have a nap interval of 1 second while we have a timeout of
128 seconds by default, which could be an overkill, and for some hardware
the patting action may be expensive.

Note that the choice of nap interval is still arbitrary. We preferred
a safe value where even when the system is very heavily loaded, the
watchdog should not shoot the system down if it's not really hung.
According to the manual page of Linux's watchdog daemon, the nap interval
time of theirs is 10 seconds, which seems to be a reasonable value --
according to Intel documentation AP-725 (Document Number: 292273-001),
ICH5's maximum timeout is about 37.5 seconds, which the ichwd(4) driver
would set when we requested 128 seconds (although it should probably
feed back this as an error and do not set the timeout). Since that's
the shortest maximum value, 10 seconds seems to be a right choice for
us too.

079e563cae Rework the EXAMPLES section to be a bit clearer.
- Add an example of using etcupdate diff.
- Create a subsection on bootstrapping that is below the simple
examples. This should make it clearer that 'etcupdate extract' is
a one-time operation and not part of the common workflow. It also
adds more suggestions on when bootstrapping is needed and additional
steps to make future merges simpler.
