c771499209 net/mlx5: extend debug logs verbosity
Extend debug logs verbosity by printing the full completion with error
along with the entire txq in case of error. For the Rx case no logs were
added since such errors are counted and recovered by the Rx data path.

Such prints are essential to understand the root cause for the error.

b5743da31e net/mlx5: fix locking in xstats functions
The corrupted code didn't unlock the spinlock in xstats
get and reset functions error flow.

Hence, if these errors happened, the device spinlock was
left locked and many mlx5 device functionalities were blocked.

The fix unlocks the spinlock in the missed places.

6096a4603d net/mlx5: fix non working secondary process by removing it
Secondary process is a copy/paste of the mlx4 drivers, it was never
tested and it even segfault at the secondary process start in the
mlx5_pci_probe().

This makes more sense to wipe this non working feature to re-write a
working and functional version.

2dc76e40ef net/mlx5: cleanup Rx ring in free functions
Vector PMD returns buffers to the application without setting the pointers
in the Rx queue to null nor allocating them.  When the PMD cleanup the ring
it needs to take a special care to those pointers to not free the mbufs
before the application have used them nor if the application have already
freed them.

301271bc16 net/mlx5: prepare vector Rx ring at setup time
To use the vector, it needs to add to the PMD Rx mbuf ring four extra mbuf
to avoid memory corruption.  This additional mbuf are added on dev_start()
whereas all other mbuf are allocated on queue setup.

This patch brings this allocation back to the same place as other mbuf
allocation.

5644d5b94e net/mlx5: add parameters to enable/disable vector datapath
Vector code is very young and can present some issues for users, to avoid
them to modify the selections function by commenting the code and recompile
the PMD, new devices parameters are added to deactivate the Tx and/or Rx
vector code.
By using such device parameters, the user will be able to fall back to
regular burst functions.

9807f11335 net/mlx5: fix error statistics in SSE Rx
If there's a Rx completion with error (e.g, MTU mismatch), it is handled
later out of main burst loop as a slow path for performance reason.
Statistics should be corrected by subtracting counters of errored packets.
Also, the last entry of mlx5_ptype_table[] must be RTE_PTYPE_ALL_MASK to
mark error in completion.

545b884b1d net/mlx5: fix buffer address posting in SSE Rx
The data_off field of newly allocated mbufs is stale data. This shouldn't
be used in calculating Rx address for device when posting free buffers.
RTE_PKTMBUF_HEADROOM should be used instead and data_off of a mbuf will be
reset on packet reception anyway.

1cba20c610 net/mlx5: fix trimming SW ring for vectorized Rx
Unlike mlx5_rx_burst(), mlx5_rx_burst_vec() doesn't replace completed
buffers one by one right after completion is processed but replenishes
multiple buffers later with rte_mempool_get_bulk(). Therefore, there could
be some buffer addresses left in the SW ring (rxq->elts[]) which have
already been delivered to application. As PMD doesn't own such buffers, it
must not be freed by PMD.  "Trimming" is needed before cleanup.

A problem can be seen when quitting testpmd when
CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_MBUF_DEBUG=y and CONFIG_RTE_LIBRTE_MEMPOOL_DEBUG=y

Trimming should be as simple as possible, it shouldn't touch any indexes
and buffer allocation isn't necessary.

54d3fe948d net/mlx5: poll completion queue once per a call
mlx5_tx_complete() polls completion queue multiple times until it
encounters an invalid entry. As Tx completions are suppressed by
MLX5_TX_COMP_THRESH, it is waste of cycles to expect multiple
completions in a poll. And freeing too many buffers in a call can
cause high jitter.
This patch improves throughput a little.

4aff4bcbbd net/mlx5: change start pointer of compressed completion
On a host having 128B cacheline size, some devices insert 64B padding in
each completion entry to avoid partial cacheline write by HW. But, as the
padding is ahead of completion data, casting a completion entry to
compressed mini-completions must start from the middle of the completion.

6cb559d67b net/mlx5: add vectorized Rx/Tx burst for x86
To make vectorized burst routines enabled, it is required to run on x86_64
architecture. If all the conditions are met, the vectorized burst functions
are enabled automatically. The decision is made individually on RX and TX.
There's no PMD option to make a selection.

b0b0938457 net/mlx5: use buffer address for LKEY search
When searching LKEY, if search key is mempool pointer, the 2nd cacheline
has to be accessed and it even requires to check whether a buffer is
indirect per every search. Instead, using address for search key can reduce
cycles taken. And caching the last hit entry is beneficial as well.

8c819a6926 net/mlx5: change indexing for Tx SW ring
For Tx SW ring (txq->elts[]), indexes are kept and used in
txq->elts_head/tail. Because of this, one entry must always be left unused
and it also makes code complex. Changed to store counters instead of
indexes in order to make the code simpler and to reduce a few calculations.

3aec2d14d6 net/mlx: update C compliance standard
This commit addresses a compilation issue against Glibc >= 2.25, which
implements assert() through a nonstandard ({ }) construct. Such constructs
can normally not be used without __extension__ keyword when -pedantic is
enabled, as is the case when compiling mlx4 and mlx5 PMDs in debug mode.

While assert.h checks for the compiler ability to support GNU extensions,
Clang, unlike GCC, does not allow the above syntax when combining
-std=gnu99 with -pedantic.

Work around missing keyword by moving these PMDs to a stricter compliance
standard without GNU extensions but properly checked by Glibc. Doing so is
supported on the DPDK side since includes have been cleaned up.

Even in C11, using types other than _Bool or signed/unsigned int for
bit-fields is an extension. Some GCC versions complain about that when
-pedantic checks are enabled.

The RTE_STD_C11 macro correctly prevented this issue with C99 but not with
C11 as it becomes a no-op. Forcing the extension keyword addresses it.

e1016cb733 net/mlx5: fix Rx interrupts management
This commit addresses various issues that may lead to undefined behavior
when configuring Rx interrupts.

While failure to create a Rx queue completion channel in rxq_ctrl_setup()
prevents that queue from being created, existing queues still have theirs.
Since the error handler disables dev_conf.intr_conf.rxq as well, subsequent
calls to rxq_ctrl_setup() create Rx queues without interrupts. This leads
to a scenario where not all Rx queues support interrupts; missing checks on
the presence of completion channels may crash the application.

Considering that the PMD is not supposed to disable user-provided
configuration parameters (dev_conf.intr_conf.rxq), and that these can
change for subsequent rxq_ctrl_setup() calls anyway, properly supporting a
mixed mode where not all Rx queues have interrupts enabled is a better
approach.

To do so with a minimum set of changes, priv_intr_efd_enable() and
priv_create_intr_vec() are first refactored as a single
priv_rx_intr_vec_enable() function (same for their "disable" counterparts).
Since they had to be used together, there was no point in keeping them
separate.

Remaining changes:

- Always clean up before reconfiguring interrupts to avoid memory leaks.
- Always clean up when closing the device.
- Use malloc()/free() instead of their rte_*() counterparts since there is
  no need to store the vector in huge pages-backed memory.
- Allow more Rx queues than the size of the event file descriptor array as
  long as Rx interrupts are not requested on all of them.
- Properly clean up interrupt handle when disabling Rx interrupts (nb_efd
  and intr_vec reset to 0).
- Check completion channel presence while toggling Rx interrupts on a given
  queue.

4329cb8111 net/mlx5: implement drop action in hardware classifier
The current drop action is implemented as a queue tail drop,
requiring to instantiate multiple WQs to maintain high drop rate.
This commit, implements the drop action in hardware classifier.
This enables to reduce the amount of contexts needed for the drop,
without affecting the drop rate.

463ced957c pci: increase domain storage to 32 bits
In some environments, the PCI domain can be larger than 16 bits.
For example, a PCI device passed through in Azure gets a synthetic domain
id  which is internally generated based on GUID. The PCI standard does
not restrict domain to be 16 bits.

This change breaks ABI for API's that expose PCI address structure.

The printf format for PCI remains unchanged, so that on most
systems (with only 16 bit domain) the output format is unchanged
and is 4 characters wide.  For example: 0000:00:01.0
Only on sysetms with higher bits will the domain take up more
space; example: 12000:00:01.0

SW completion ring of Tx (txq->elts) stores individual mbufs even if a
multi-segmented packet is sent. rte_pktmbuf_free_seg() must be used when
cleaning up the completion ring. Otherwise, chained mbufs are redundantly
freed and finally it would cause a crash.

ac180a21f6 net/mlx5: fix index handling for Tx ring
In case of resource deficiency on Tx, mlx5_tx_burst() breaks the loop
without rolling back consumed resources (txq->wqes[] and txq->elts[]). This
can make application crash because unposted mbufs can be freed while
processing completions. Other Tx functions don't have this issue.

6d01e580ac ethdev: fix adding invalid MAC address
Some customers find adding MAC addr to VF sometimes can fail,
but it is still stored in dev->data->mac_addrs[ ]. So this
can lead to some errors that assumes the non-zero entry in
dev->data->mac_addrs[ ] is valid.
Following acknowledgements are from specific NIC PMD
maintainer for their managing part.

This patch changes the ethdev internal API, it should not be
backported to a stable/LTS release so far.

8f094a9ac5 mbuf: set mbuf fields while in pool
Set the value of m->refcnt to 1, m->nb_segs to 1 and m->next
to NULL when the mbuf is stored inside the mempool (unused).
This is done in rte_pktmbuf_prefree_seg(), before freeing or
recycling a mbuf.

Before this patch, the value of m->refcnt was expected to be 0
while in pool.

The objectives are:

- to avoid drivers to set m->next to NULL in the early Rx path, since
  this field is in the second 64B of the mbuf and its access could
  trigger a cache miss

- rationalize the behavior of raw_alloc/raw_free: one is now the
  symmetric of the other, and refcnt is never changed in these functions.

To optimize the freeing of the segments, we try try to only update
m->refcnt, m->next, and m->nb_segs when it's required (idea from
Konstantin Ananyev <konstantin.ananyev@intel.com>).

aa13338faf net/mlx5: rebuild flows on updating RETA
Currently mlx5_dev_rss_reta_update() just updates tables in the host,
therefore it isn't immediately effective until restarting the device by
calling mlx5_dev_stop()/mlx5_dev_start() to update the changes in the
device side. This patch adds rebuilding the device-specific data
structure and applying it to the device right away.

6ce84bd889 net/mlx5: add enhanced multi-packet send for ConnectX-5
ConnectX-5 supports enhanced version of multi-packet send (MPS). An MPS Tx
descriptor can carry multiple packets either by including pointers of
packets or by inlining packets. Inlining packet data can be helpful to
better utilize PCIe bandwidth. In addition, Enhanced MPS supports hybrid
mode - mixing inlined packets and pointers in a descriptor. This feature is
enabled by default if supported by HW.

Implement a basic flow RSS action.  This commits don't handle the default
RSS queues already created by the control plane, this last part being huge.

Any new request RSS flow request will be added using an higher priority
than the default one to be sure this rule will be the one used.

Default ones (those created by dev_start()) remains but has they have a
lower priority they will not receive any new packet.

In mlx5 PMD handling a single queue of several destination queues ends in
creating the same Verbs attribute, the main difference resides in the
indirection table and the RSS hash key.

This helps to prepare the supports to the RSS queues by first handling the
queue action has being an RSS queue with a single queue.  No RSS hash key

The number of extended statistics counters is queried through ETHTOOL.
ETHTOOL provides a different number when the link is up or down.
Since extended statistics query occurs at device start,
segmentation fault might happen when changing the link state before and

feb9f680cd mk: optimize directory dependencies
Before this patch, the management of dependencies between directories
had several issues:

- the generation of .depdirs, done at configuration is slow: it can take
  more than one minute on some slow targets (usually ~10s on a standard
  PC without -j).

- for instance, it is possible to express a dependency like:
  - app/foo depends on lib/librte_foo
  - and lib/librte_foo depends on app/bar
  But this won't work because the directories are traversed with a
  depth-first algorithm, so we have to choose between doing 'app' before
  or after 'lib'.

- the script depdirs-rule.sh is too complex.

- we cannot use "make -d" for debug, because the output of make is used for
  the generation of .depdirs.

This patch moves the DEPDIRS-* variables in the upper Makefile, making
the dependencies much easier to calculate. A DEPDIRS variable is still
used to process library dependencies in LDLIBS.

After this commit, "make config" is almost immediate.

ioctl available since Linux 4.5 was always failing due to a kernel bug
fixed since version 4.9.

This commit also addresses a common issue where the headers version used

always defining missing symbols and moving the kernel version check at run
time.

f04f1d5156 net/mlx5: fix Tx WQE corruption caused by starvation
Fixes an issue which may occurs with the inline feature activated and a
packet greater than the max_inline requested.

In such situation, more work request elements can be consumed and in the
worst case override some still handled by the NIC, this can result in

Querying the link status can end up being in an inconsistent state,
like the port is reporting speed although it is down.

For this case another query is scheduled.

A race condition can occur between the scheduled query and link
status interrupt handlers.

When the scheduled query by-pass interrupt handlers, the link status
will be stuck in an inconsistent state.

This patch addresses the race condition by not blocking link status
queries in case delayed query is used.

On receiving a compressed session of Rx completion, prefetch every entries
to be invalidated. Also, invalidate consumed completions per every 8

2c960a5116 net/mlx: remove link update lock
Retrieving link status information through the link update callback should
be quick and non-blocking.

Mellanox PMDs retrieve this information through ioctl() calls on the
related kernel netdevice. This appears to take a long time to
complete and may cause significant slowdowns in applications.

While these system calls cannot be accelerated, removing the lock on the
private structure allows applications to perform other control operations
from separate threads in the meantime. This function remains safe without
locking as it does not write the private structure, it is only used to
retrieve the name of the netdevice.

fe5fe3820e net/mlx5: fix leak when starvation occurs
The list of segments to free was wrongly manipulated ending by only freeing
the first segment instead of freeing all of them.  The last one still
belongs to the NIC and thus should not be freed.

75aca7997e ethdev: initialize more fields on allocation
This moves the non-PCI related initialization of the link state interrupt
callback list and the setting of the default MTU to rte_eth_dev_allocate()
