e573264c71 net/ixgbe: remove redundant assignment
Since "link.link_duplex" has been assigned to ETH_LINK_FULL_DUPLEX just
before switch statement, the assignment in switch-case statement is
redundant. Remove it.

18b7d4eb3d net/ixgbe: remove memory barrier from NEON Rx
The memory barrier was intended for descriptor data integrity (see
comments in [1]). As later NEON loads were implemented and a whole
entry is loaded in one-run and atomic, that makes the ordering of
partial loading unnecessary. Remove it accordingly.

Corrected couple of code comments.

In terms of performance, observed slightly higher average throughput
in tests with 82599ES NIC.

b76fafb174 eal: fix IOVA mode selection as VA for PCI drivers
The incriminated commit broke the use of RTE_PCI_DRV_IOVA_AS_VA which
was intended to mean "driver only supports VA" but had been understood
as "driver supports both PA and VA" by most net drivers and used to let
dpdk processes to run as non root (which do not have access to physical
addresses on recent kernels).

The check on physical addresses actually closed the gap for those
drivers. We don't need to mark them with RTE_PCI_DRV_IOVA_AS_VA and this
flag can retain its intended meaning.
Document explicitly its meaning.

We can check that a driver requirement wrt to IOVA mode is fulfilled
before trying to probe a device.

Finally, document the heuristic used to select the IOVA mode and hope
that we won't break it again.

655df688f8 net/ixgbe: fix IP type for crypto session
When ixgbe_crypto_add_sa() is called, it checks whether the ip type is
IPv6 or IPv4 to write correct addresses to the registers. Type itself
is never specified, and act as IPv4, which is the default value.
It causes lack of support for IPv6.

To fix that, ip type needs to be stored in device private data, based on
crypto session ip type field, before the checking is done.

18218713bf enforce experimental tag at beginning of declarations
Putting a '__attribute__((deprecated))' in the middle of a function
prototype does not result in the expected result with gcc (while clang
is fine with this syntax).

$ cat deprecated.c
void * __attribute__((deprecated)) incorrect() { return 0; }
__attribute__((deprecated)) void *correct(void) { return 0; }
int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { incorrect(); correct(); return 0; }
$ gcc -o deprecated.o -c deprecated.c
deprecated.c: In function ‘main’:
deprecated.c:3:1: warning: ‘correct’ is deprecated (declared at
deprecated.c:2) [-Wdeprecated-declarations]
 int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { incorrect(); correct(); return 0; }
 ^

Move the tag on a separate line and make it the first thing of function
prototypes.
This is not perfect but we will trust reviewers to catch the other not
so easy to detect patterns.

sed -i \
     -e '/^\([^#].*\)\?__rte_experimental */{' \
     -e 's//\1/; s/ *$//; i\' \
     -e __rte_experimental \
     -e '/^$/d}' \
     $(git grep -l __rte_experimental -- '*.h')

Special mention for rte_mbuf_data_addr_default():

There is either a bug or a (not yet understood) issue with gcc.
gcc won't drop this inline when unused and rte_mbuf_data_addr_default()
calls rte_mbuf_buf_addr() which itself is experimental.
This results in a build warning when not accepting experimental apis
from sources just including rte_mbuf.h.

For this specific case, we hide the call to rte_mbuf_buf_addr() under
the ALLOW_EXPERIMENTAL_API flag.

bd282035b3 net/ixgbevf: add full link status check option
To get the VF's link status by calling 'rte_eth_link_get_nowait()', the
VF not only check PF's physical link status, but also check the mailbox
running status. And mailbox checking will generate mailbox interrupt in
PF, it will be worse if many VFs are running in the system, the PF will
have to handle many interrrupts.

Normally, checking the PF's physical link status is enough for nowait.
For different scenarios, adding an 'pflink_fullchk' option to control

9f5d2352fe net/ixgbe: fix Tx threshold setup

f9409d6c28 net/ixgbevf: remove MTU setting limitation
Currently, if requested MTU is bigger than mbuf size and scattered
receive is not enabled, setting MTU to that value fails.

This patch allows setting this special MTU when device is stopped,
because scattered_rx will be re-configured during next port start
and driver may enable scattered receive according new MTU value.

After this patch, driver may select different receive function
automatically after MTU set, according MTU values selected.

This commit sets the min and max supported MTU values for ixgbe VF

dc5a6e7422 net/ixgbe: fix over using multicast table for VF
According to the current implementation, all VFs will set bit
IXGBE_VMOLR_ROMPE during initialization, this cause any VF
will accept packets that match the MTA table. Since the MTA
table is shared by all VFs which means if one VF update MTA
table in function ixgbe_vf_set_multicast, then all other VFs
will receive multicast packets which cause unnecessary
performance overhead.

So it's better to set VF's ROPE bit of register VMOLR only
if multicast address filter is required on that VF.
Also, the ROPE bit should be reset when multicast address
filter is requested to clean.

This patch also aligns to the related fix on ixgbe
kernel driver 5.3.7.

will trigger vf kernel driver send IXGBE_VF_RESET message to pf

For DPDK user space driver, it only gets link status changes from
