67eb6d8656 Don't compile in the AR9130 embedded WMAC code into the HAL by default.
This won't work unless AH_SUPPORT_AR9130 which can't be enabled - it
breaks the other 11n chipsets for now.

cca3084242 - Add the ffclock_getcounter(), ffclock_getestimate() and ffclock_setestimate()
system calls to provide feed-forward clock management capabilities to
  userspace processes. ffclock_getcounter() returns the current value of the
  kernel's feed-forward clock counter. ffclock_getestimate() returns the current
  feed-forward clock parameter estimates and ffclock_setestimate() updates the
  feed-forward clock parameter estimates.

- Document the syscalls in the ffclock.2 man page.

- Regenerate the script-derived syscall related files.

603d3fe159 Provide high-level functions to access the feed-forward absolute and difference
clocks. Each routine can output an upper bound on the absolute time or time
interval requested. Different flavours of absolute time can be requested, for
example with or without leap seconds, monotonic or not, etc.

751092ac03 Core structure and functions to support a feed-forward clock within the kernel.
Implement ffcounter, a monotonically increasing cumulative counter on top of the
active timecounter. Provide low-level functions to read the ffcounter and
convert it to absolute time or a time interval in seconds using the current
ffclock estimates, which track the drift of the oscillator. Add a ring of
fftimehands to track passing of time on each kernel tick and pick up updates of
ffclock estimates.

d8198c572a Add the sfxge(4) device driver, providing support for 10Gb Ethernet adapters
based on Solarflare SFC9000 family controllers.  The driver supports jumbo
frames, transmit/receive checksum offload, TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO),
Large Receive Offload (LRO), VLAN checksum offload, VLAN TSO, and Receive Side
Scaling (RSS) using MSI-X interrupts.

ebf84a8f03 Retire 'options TI_PRIVATE_JUMBOS' and replace local jumbo
allocator with UMA backed jumbo allocator by default. Previously
ti(4) used sf_buf(9) interface for jumbo buffers but it was broken
at this moment such that enabling jumbo frame caused instant panic.
Due to the nature of sf_buf(9) it heavily relies on VM changes but
it seems ti(4) was not received much blessing from VM gurus.  I
don't understand VM magic and implications used in driver either.
Switching to UMA backed jumbo allocator like other network drivers
will make jumbo frame work on ti(4).
While I'm here, fully allocate all RX buffers. This means ti(4) now
uses 512 RX buffer and 1024 mini RX buffers.

To use sf_buf(9) interface for jumbo buffers, introduce a new
'options TI_SF_BUF_JUMBO'. If it is proven that sf_buf(9) is better
for jumbo buffers, interesting developers can fix the issue in
future.

ti(4) still needs more bus_dma(9) cleanups and should use separate
DMA tag/map for each ring(standard, jumbo, mini, command, event
etc) but it should work on all platforms except PAE.

8e918ec439 Introduce the option VFS_ALLOW_NONMPSAFE and turn it on by default on
all the architectures.
The option allows to mount non-MPSAFE filesystem. Without it, the
kernel will refuse to mount a non-MPSAFE filesytem.

This patch is part of the effort of killing non-MPSAFE filesystems
from the tree.

No MFC is expected for this patch.

096734a154 First cut at updating mfi(4) to support newer LSI MegaRAID SAS cards.
Specifically, add support for "Drake Skinny" and "ThunderBolt" LSI
cards.

Initial code was supplied by LSI under BSD license.  Several improvements
were done by myself.  Such things like making it work in a static kernel,
be able to boot of the RAID, performance improvements.  I removed some
fairly complicated code that seemed to directly access the disks under
the firmware.  It doesn't seem to be needed and significantly slowed
down the performance of the driver and caused tons of sense errors to
be reported.

This code is being checked in this area so others can help me get it into
shape to commit into the FreeBSD tree.  Assistance has been volunteered
by iXsystems.

We might want to re-work the JBOD attachment that creates /dev/mfisyspd?
node for each disk.

Performance is faster then prior cards.  It works okay with WITNESS
and INVARIANTS on amd64 and i386.  I recall seeing a use after
free time bug with FreeBSD 8 and a Drake Skinny card with WITNESS
and INVARIANTS on.

First task is get all of the new structures to be named in FreeBSD
style format.

Next is probably to deal with the 64bit addressing changes that are
mostly around the #ifdef __amd64__ checks.

788539ae31 Add a PCI front-end to esp(4) allowing it to support AMD Am53C974 and
replace amd(4) with the former in the amd64, i386 and pc98 GENERIC kernel
configuration files. Besides duplicating functionality, amd(4), which
previously also supported the AMD Am53C974, unlike esp(4) is no longer
maintained and has accumulated enough bit rot over time to always cause
a panic during boot as long as at least one target is attached to it
(see PR 124667).

b4610d98b0 - Import the common MII bitbang'ing code from NetBSD and convert drivers to
take advantage of it instead of duplicating it. This reduces the size of
  the i386 GENERIC kernel by about 4k. The only potential in-tree user left
  unconverted is xe(4), which generally should be changed to use miibus(4)
  instead of implementing PHY handling on its own, as otherwise it makes not
  much sense to add a dependency on miibus(4)/mii_bitbang(4) to xe(4) just
  for the MII bitbang'ing code. The common MII bitbang'ing code also is
  useful in the embedded space for using GPIO pins to implement MII access.
- Based on lessons learnt with dc(4) (see r185750), add bus barriers to the
  MII bitbang read and write functions of the other drivers converted in
  order to ensure the intended ordering. Given that register access via an
  index register as well as register bank/window switching is subject to the
  same problem, also add bus barriers to the respective functions of smc(4),
  tl(4) and xl(4).
- Sprinkle some const.

07ac74d257 - Follow the lead of dcphy(4) and pnphy(4) and move the reminder of the PHY
drivers that only ever attach to a particular MAC driver, i.e. inphy(4),
  ruephy(4) and xlphy(4), to the directory where the respective MAC driver
  lives and only compile it into the kernel when the latter is also there,
  also removing it from miibus.ko and moving it into the module of the
  respective MAC driver.
- While at it, rename exphy.c, which comes from NetBSD where the MAC driver
  it corresponds to also is named ex(4) instead of xl(4) but that in FreeBSD
  actually identifies itself as xlphy(4), and its function names accordingly
  for consistency.
- Additionally while at it, fix some minor style issues like whitespace
  in the register headers and add multi-inclusion protection to inphyreg.h.

5494aebd97 Improve the informations reported in case of busy buffers during the shutdown:
- Axe out the SHOW_BUSYBUFS option and uses a tunable for selectively
enable/disable it, which is defaulted for not printing anything (0
value) but can be changed for printing (1 value) and be verbose (2
value)
- Improves the informations outputed: right now, there is no track of
the actual struct buf object or vnode which are referenced by the
shutdown process, but it is printed the related struct bufobj object
which is not really helpful
- Add more verbosity about the state of the struct buf lock and the
vnode informations, with the latter to be activated separately by the
sysctl

5ecd1c9d40 Add experimental support for process descriptors
A "process descriptor" file descriptor is used to manage processes
without using the PID namespace. This is required for Capsicum's
Capability Mode, where the PID namespace is unavailable.

New system calls pdfork(2) and pdkill(2) offer the functional equivalents
of fork(2) and kill(2). pdgetpid(2) allows querying the PID of the remote
process for debugging purposes. The currently-unimplemented pdwait(2) will,
in the future, allow querying rusage/exit status. In the interim, poll(2)
may be used to check (and wait for) process termination.

When a process is referenced by a process descriptor, it does not issue
SIGCHLD to the parent, making it suitable for use in libraries---a common
scenario when using library compartmentalisation from within large
applications (such as web browsers). Some observers may note a similarity
to Mach task ports; process descriptors provide a subset of this behaviour,
but in a UNIX style.

This feature is enabled by "options PROCDESC", but as with several other
Capsicum kernel features, is not enabled by default in GENERIC 9.0.

80a6b3c998 Use a maximum of -O on PowerPC kernels instead of -O2 to prevent a rare
bug that could cause intermittent memory corruption on PowerPC SMP
systems using non-debug kernels. This is a temporary change until the
real problem is fixed.

50b05401d3 remove RESTARTABLE_PANICS option
This is done per request/suggestion from John Baldwin
who introduced the option.  Trying to resume normal
system operation after a panic is very unpredictable
and dangerous.  It will become even more dangerous
when we allow a thread in panic(9) to penetrate all
lock contexts.
I understand that the only purpose of this option was
for testing scenarios potentially resulting in panic.

1545102484 Don't include mptable_pci.c in Xen kernels. It is only meant for systems
that truly have an MPTable.  The MPTable code in Xen is really a Xen
specific CPU enumerator and probably shouldn't be using the mptable name
at all.

c7527da836 MIPS changes for Netlogic XLP support.
This patch adds support for the Netlogic XLP mips64 processors in
the common MIPS code. The changes are :

- Add CPU_NLM processor type
- Add cases for CPU_NLM, mostly were CPU_RMI is used.
- Update cache flush changes for CPU_NLM
- Add kernel build configuration files for xLP.

e9e63eab3c Support compiling MIPS elf trampoline with a different ABI.
Allow changing the trampoline ABI with makeoptions, this will allow
us to have a trampoline with a different ABI from the kernel.
Useful in cases where we have to boot a 64 bit kernel from a
bootloader which supports only 32 bit or vice versa.

8448ba638c Remove semaphore map entry count "semmap" field and its tuning
option that is highly recommended to be adjusted in too much
documentation while doing nothing in FreeBSD since r2729 (rev 1.1).

ipcs(1) needs to be recompiled as it is accessing _KERNEL private
variables.

624e733467 We may split today's CAPABILITIES into CAPABILITY_MODE (which has
to do with global namespaces) and CAPABILITIES (which has to do with
constraining file descriptors). Just in case, and because it's a better
name anyway, let's move CAPABILITIES out of the way.

Also, change opt_capabilities.h to opt_capsicum.h; for now, this will
only hold CAPABILITY_MODE, but it will probably also hold the new
CAPABILITIES (implying constrained file descriptors) in the future.

5c01535c7c Add ATH_ENABLE_DFS which enables the DFS flag so the DFS code
can be tested.

This doesn't at all actually do radar detection! It's just
so developers who wish to test the net80211 DFS code can easily
do so. Without this flag, the DFS channels are never marked
DFS and thus the DFS stuff doesn't run.

215e258fd1 Switch to the event timers infrastructure. This includes:
o   Setting td_intr_frame to the XIVs trap frame because it's referenced
    by the ET event handler.
o   Signal EOI to the CPU before calling the registered XIV handlers.
    This prevents lost ITC interrupts, which cause starvation in one-shot
    mode.
o   Adding support for IPI_HARDCLOCK with corresponding per-CPU counters.
o   Have the APs call cpu_initclocks() so as to limited the scattering of
    clock related initialization. cpu_initclocks() calls the <self>_bsp()
    or <self>_ap() version accordingly.
o   Uncomment the ET clock handling in cpu_idle().
o   Update the DDB 'show pcpu' output for the new MD fields.
o   Entirely rewritten ia64_ih_clock(). Note that we don't create as many
    clock XIVs as we have CPUs, as is done on PowerPC. It doesn't scale.
    We can only have 240 XIVs and we can have more CPUs than that. There's
    a single intrcnt index for the cumulative clock ticks and we keep per
    CPU counts in the PCPU stats structure.
o   Register the ITC by hooking SI_SUB_CONFIGURE (2nd order).

Open issues:
o   Clock interrupts can still be lost. Some tweaking is still necessary.

c946d04aa9 Driver for PS3's internal hard disk. Hopefully this can be CAM-ified in
the future, but presents a set of simple block devices for now. With
(forthcoming) boot loader support or vfs.root.mountfrom, allows booting
PS3s from disk.

d90b849335 Add -Wa,-many to CFLAGS on PowerPC. This aids in building a kernel using
clang, which would otherwise complain about some 64-bit bridge mode
instructions.

6e29aea1db Implement a CPU-affine TCP and UDP connection lookup data structure,
struct inpcbgroup.  pcbgroups, or "connection groups", supplement the
existing inpcbinfo connection hash table, which when pcbgroups are
enabled, might now be thought of more usefully as a per-protocol
4-tuple reservation table.

Connections are assigned to connection groups base on a hash of their
4-tuple; wildcard sockets require special handling, and are members
of all connection groups.  During a connection lookup, a
per-connection group lock is employed rather than the global pcbinfo
lock.  By aligning connection groups with input path processing,
connection groups take on an effective CPU affinity, especially when
aligned with RSS work placement (see a forthcoming commit for
details).  This eliminates cache line migration associated with
global, protocol-layer data structures in steady state TCP and UDP
processing (with the exception of protocol-layer statistics; further
commit to follow).

Elements of this approach were inspired by Willman, Rixner, and Cox's
2006 USENIX paper, "An Evaluation of Network Stack Parallelization
Strategies in Modern Operating Systems".  However, there are also
significant differences: we maintain the inpcb lock, rather than using
the connection group lock for per-connection state.

Likewise, the focus of this implementation is alignment with NIC
packet distribution strategies such as RSS, rather than pure software
strategies.  Despite that focus, software distribution is supported
through the parallel netisr implementation, and works well in
configurations where the number of hardware threads is greater than
the number of NIC input queues, such as in the RMI XLR threaded MIPS
architecture.

Another important difference is the continued maintenance of existing
hash tables as "reservation tables" -- these are useful both to
distinguish the resource allocation aspect of protocol name management
and the more common-case lookup aspect.  In configurations where
connection tables are aligned with hardware hashes, it is desirable to
use the traditional lookup tables for loopback or encapsulated traffic
rather than take the expense of hardware hashes that are hard to
implement efficiently in software (such as RSS Toeplitz).

Connection group support is enabled by compiling "options PCBGROUP"
into your kernel configuration; for the time being, this is an
experimental feature, and hence is not enabled by default.

Subject to the limited MFCability of change dependencies in inpcb,
and its change to the inpcbinfo init function signature, this change
in principle could be merged to FreeBSD 8.x.

fa6dbdd4a2 Flesh out the radar detection related operations for the ath driver.
This is in no way a complete DFS/radar detection implementation!
It merely creates an abstracted interface which allows for future
development of the DFS radar detection code.

Note: Net80211 already handles the bulk of the DFS machinery,
all we need to do here is figure out that a radar event has occured
and inform it as such. It then drives the DFS state engine for us.

The "null" DFS radar detection module is included by default;
it doesn't require a device line.

This commit:

* Adds a simple abstracted layer for radar detection state -
  sys/dev/ath/ath_dfs/;
* Implements a null DFS module which doesn't do anything;
  (ie, implements the exact behaviour at the moment);
* Adds hooks to the ath driver to process received radar events
  and gives the DFS module a chance to determine whether
  a radar has been detected.

a924571ff7 Fix KTR_CPUMASK in order to accept a string representing a cpuset_t.
This introduce all the underlying support for making this possible (via
the function cpusetobj_strscan() and keeps ktr_cpumask exported.  sparc64
implements its own assembly primitives for tracing events and needs to
properly check it.  Anyway the sparc64 logic is not implemented yet due
to lack of knowledge (by me) and time (by marius), but it is just a
matter of using ktr_cpumask when possible.

8cb99b2400 L2 table code. This is enough to get the T4's switch + L2 rewrite
filters working.  (All other filters - switch without L2 info rewrite,
steer, and drop - were already fully-functional).

Some contrived examples of "switch" filters with L2 rewriting:

# cxgbetool t4nex0  iport 0  dport 80  action switch  vlan +9  eport 3
Intercept all packets received on physical port 0 with TCP port 80 as
destination, insert a vlan tag with VID 9, and send them out of port 3.

# cxgbetool t4nex0  sip 192.168.1.1/32  ivlan 5  action switch \
	vlan =9  smac aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff  eport 0
Intercept all packets (received on any port) with source IP address
192.168.1.1 and VLAN id 5, rewrite the VLAN id to 9, rewrite source mac
to aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff, and send it out of port 0.

c9f24d69ee Remove an outdated comment as requested by Bruce Evans in a private email to
Alexander Best (arundel@).

For clang, -fdiagnostics-show-option is enabled by default, but for gcc it
isn't. This option will report which -W* flag was responsible for triggering
a certain warning. This will bring gcc warnings closer to the ones clang emits
and might also help developers track down tinderbox failures a bit quicker.

2332df9dae Start to usher INSTALL_NODEBUG hack out the door. Add new
WITH{OUT,}_KERNEL_SYMBOLS (defaulting to WITH).  In the fullness of
time, likely around 2020, INSTALL_NODEBUG will be removed.  For now,
don't print a warning when using INSTALL_NODEBUG, but that will be
coming soon.

d37f1bd21e gcc and clang semantics imply certain -mno-* flags when other certain -mno-*
flags are also specified. This change makes use of this behaviour and removes
unneeded -mno-* flags.

Note that clang does not yet enable AVX support for any CPU. However at some
point in the future it will and since we definitely want to disable it for the
kernel, we might as well add the -mno-avx flag now.

51bd96b572 Reimplement how PCI-PCI bridges manage their I/O windows. Previously the
driver would verify that requests for child devices were confined to any
existing I/O windows, but the driver relied on the firmware to initialize
the windows and would never grow the windows for new requests.  Now the
driver actively manages the I/O windows.

This is implemented by allocating a bus resource for each I/O window from
the parent PCI bus and suballocating that resource to child devices.  The
suballocations are managed by creating an rman for each I/O window.  The
suballocated resources are mapped by passing the bus_activate_resource()
call up to the parent PCI bus.  Windows are grown when needed by using
bus_adjust_resource() to adjust the resource allocated from the parent PCI
bus.  If the adjust request succeeds, the window is adjusted and the
suballocation request for the child device is retried.

When growing a window, the rman_first_free_region() and
rman_last_free_region() routines are used to determine if the front or
end of the existing I/O window is free.  From using that, the smallest
ranges that need to be added to either the front or back of the window
are computed.  The driver will first try to grow the window in whichever
direction requires the smallest growth first followed by the other
direction if that fails.

Subtractive bridges will first attempt to satisfy requests for child
resources from I/O windows (including attempts to grow the windows).  If
that fails, the request is passed up to the parent PCI bus directly
however.

The PCI-PCI bridge driver will try to use firmware-assigned ranges for
child BARs first and only allocate a "fresh" range if that specific range
cannot be accommodated in the I/O window.  This allows systems where the
firmware assigns resources during boot but later wipes the I/O windows
(some ACPI BIOSen are known to do this) to "rediscover" the original I/O
window ranges.

The ACPI Host-PCI bridge driver has been adjusted to correctly honor
hw.acpi.host_mem_start and the I/O port equivalent when a PCI-PCI bridge
makes a wildcard request for an I/O window range.

The new PCI-PCI bridge driver is only enabled if the NEW_PCIB kernel option
is enabled.  This is a transition aide to allow platforms that do not
yet support bus_activate_resource() and bus_adjust_resource() in their
Host-PCI bridge drivers (and possibly other drivers as needed) to use the
old driver for now.  Once all platforms support the new driver, the
kernel option and old driver will be removed.

a524773fc0 Stop linking against a direct-mapped virtual address and instead
use the PBVM. This eliminates the implied hardcoding of the
physical address at which the kernel needs to be loaded. Using the
PBVM makes it possible to load the kernel irrespective of the
physical memory organization and allows us to replicate kernel text
on NUMA machines.

While here, reduce the direct-mapped page size to the kernel's
page size so that we can support memory attributes better.

a4f08be08e Introduce AR9130 (HOWL) WMAC support to the FreeBSD HAL.
The AR9130 is an AR9160/AR5416 family WMAC which is glued directly
to the AR913x SoC peripheral bus (APB) rather than via a PCI/PCIe
bridge.

The specifics:

* A new build option is required to use the AR9130 - AH_SUPPORT_AR9130.
  This is needed due to the different location the RTC registers live
  with this chip; hopefully this will be undone in the future.
  This does currently mean that enabling this option will break non-AR9130
  builds, so don't enable it unless you're specifically building an image
  for the AR913x SoC.

* Add the new probe, attach, EEPROM and PLL methods specific to Howl.

* Add a work-around to ah_eeprom_v14.c which disables some of the checks
  for endian-ness and magic in the EEPROM image if an eepromdata block
  is provided. This'll be fixed at a later stage by porting the ath9k
  probe code and making sure it doesn't break in other setups (which
  my previous attempt at this did.)

* Sprinkle Howl modifications throughput the interrupt path - it doesn't
  implement the SYNC interrupt registers, so ignore those.

* Sprinkle Howl chip powerup/down throughout the reset path; the RTC methods
  were

* Sprinkle some other Howl workarounds in the reset path.

* Hard-code an alternative setup for the AR_CFG register for Howl, that
  sets up things suitable for Big-Endian MIPS (which is the only platform
  this chip is glued to.)

This has been tested on the AR913x based TP-Link WR-1043nd mode, in
legacy, HT/20 and HT/40 modes.

Caveats:

* 2ghz has only been tested. I've not seen any 5ghz radios glued to this
  chipset so I can't test it.

* AR5416_INTERRUPT_MITIGATION is not supported on the AR9130. At least,
  it isn't implemented in ath9k. Please don't enable this.

* This hasn't been tested in MBSS mode or in RX/TX block-aggregation mode.

519a30551e - Add shim to simplify migration to the CAM-based ATA. For each new adaX
device in /dev/ create symbolic link with adY name, trying to mimic old ATA
numbering. Imitation is not complete, but should be enough in most cases to
mount file systems without touching /etc/fstab.
 - To know what behavior to mimic, restore ATA_STATIC_ID option in cases
where it was present before.
 - Add some more details to UPDATING.

8d09f58549 Fix the experimental NFS client so that it does not bogusly
set the f_flags field of "struct statfs". This had the interesting
effect of making the NFSv4 mounts "disappear" after r221014,
since NFSMNT_NFSV4 and MNT_IGNORE became the same bit.
Move the files used for a diskless NFS root from sys/nfsclient
to sys/nfs in preparation for them to be used by both NFS
clients. Also, move the declaration of the three global data
structures from sys/nfsclient/nfs_vfsops.c to sys/nfs/nfs_diskless.c
so that they are defined when either client uses them.

512a6cd715 Switch the GENERIC kernels for all architectures to the new CAM-based ATA
stack. It means that all legacy ATA drivers are disabled and replaced by
respective CAM drivers. If you are using ATA device names in /etc/fstab or
other places, make sure to update them respectively (adX -> adaY,
acdX -> cdY, afdX -> daY, astX -> saY, where 'Y's are the sequential
numbers for each type in order of detection, unless configured otherwise
with tunables, see cam(4)).

ataraid(4) functionality is now supported by the RAID GEOM class.
To use it you can load geom_raid kernel module and use graid(8) tool
for management. Instead of /dev/arX device names, use /dev/raid/rX.

2542a7137f Compile in in_cksum* implementations for both IPv6 and IPv6.
While in_pseudo() etc. is often used in offloading feature support,
in_cksum() is mostly used to fix some broken hardware.

Keeping both around for the moment allows us to compile NIC drivers
even in an IPv6 only environment without the need to mangle them
with #ifdef INETs in a way they are not prepared for.  This will
leave some dead code paths that will not be exercised for IPv6.

0082d50ef6 Make in_proto.c dependent on either inet or inet6.
While it does not provide any functionality for IPv6, it provides
the sysctl nodes for net.inet.* that a lot of functionality shared
between IPv4 and IPv6 depends on.  We cannot change these anymore
without breaking a lot of management and tuning.

In case of IPv6 only, we compile out everything but the sysctl node
declarations.

d7acba8fca Introduce geom_map, a GEOM provider designed for use by
embedded flash stores.

Some devices - notably those with uboot - don't have an
explicit partition table (eg like Redboot's FIS.)
geom_map thus provides an easy way to export the hard-coded
flash layout as geom providers for use by filesystems and
other tools.

It also includes a "search" function which allows for
dynamic creation of partition layouts where the device only
has a single hard-coded partition. For example, if
there is a "kernel+rootfs" partition, a single image can
be created which appends the rootfs after the kernel with
an appropriate search string. geom_map can be told to
search for said search string and create a partition
beginning after it.

5e77e68a4c Import nvram2env, a device driver which imports various NVRAM-style
environments into the kernel environment.

The eventual aim is to replace these with specific drivers for
the various bootloaders (redboot, uboot, etc.) This however will
work for the time being until it can be properly addressed.

6f4c1d61a6 Break out the ath PCI logic into a separate device/module.
Introduce the AHB glue for Atheros embedded systems. Right now it's
hard-coded for the AR9130 chip whose support isn't yet in this HAL;
it'll be added in a subsequent commit.

Kernel configuration files now need both 'ath' and 'ath_pci' devices; both
modules need to be loaded for the ath device to work.

b8d3e8755d Add racct. It's an API to keep per-process, per-jail, per-loginclass
and per-loginclass resource accounting information, to be used by the new

b3ffae779b The new binutils has correctly redefined MAXPAGESIZE on amd64 as 0x200000
instead of 0x100000.  As a side effect, an amd64 kernel now loads at
physical address 0x200000 instead of 0x100000.  This is probably for the
best because it avoids the use of a 2MB page mapping for the first 1MB of
the kernel that also spans the fixed MTRRs.  However, getmemsize() still
thinks that the kernel loads at 0x100000, and so the physical memory between
0x100000 and 0x200000 is lost.  Fix this problem by replacing the hard-wired
constant in getmemsize() by a symbol "kernphys" that is defined by the
linker script.

d780eed653 Add an option - AR71XX_REALMEM - which overrides the amount of
memory detected from Redboot, or overrides the "otherwise" case
if no Redboot information was found.

Some AR71XX platforms don't use Redboot (eg TP-LINK devices using
UBoot; some later Ubiquiti devices which apparently also use
UBoot) and at least one plain out lies - the Ubiquiti LS-SR71A
Redboot says there's 16mb of RAM when in fact there's 32mb.

A more "clean" solution will be needed at a later date.

3584a5f5d1 - Merge the *_SET macros from fire(4) which generally print out the
register changes when compiled with SCHIZO_DEBUG and take advantage
  of them.
- Add support for the XMITS Fireplane/Safari to PCI-X bridges. I tought
  I'd need this for a Sun Fire 3800, which then turned out to not being
  equipped with such a bridge though. The support for these should be
  complete but given that it hasn't actually been tested probing is
  disabled for now.
  This required a way to alter the XMITS configuration in case a PCI-X
  device is found further down the device tree so the sparc64 specific
  ofw_pci kobj was revived with a ofw_pci_setup_device method, which is
  called by the ofw_pcibus code for every device added.
- A closer inspection of the OpenSolaris code indicates that consistent
  DMA flushing/syncing as well as the block store workaround should be
  applied with every BUS_DMASYNC_POSTREAD instead of in a wrapper around
  interrupt handlers for devices behind PCI-PCI bridges only as suggested
  by the documentation (code for the latter actually exists in OpenSolaris
  but is disabled by default), which also makes more sense.
- Add a workaround for Casinni/Skyhawk combinations. Chances are that
  this solves the crashes seen when using the the on-board Casinni NICs
  of Sun Fire V480 equipped with centerplanes other than 501-6780 or
  501-6790. This also takes advantage of the ofw_pci_setup_device method.
- Mark some unused parameters as such.

8dab5b0501 MFgraid/head:
Add new RAID GEOM class, that is going to replace ataraid(4) in supporting
various BIOS-based software RAIDs. Unlike ataraid(4) this implementation
does not depend on legacy ata(4) subsystem and can be used with any disk
drivers, including new CAM-based ones (ahci(4), siis(4), mvs(4), ata(4)
with `options ATA_CAM`). To make code more readable and extensible, this
implementation follows modular design, including core part and two sets
of modules, implementing support for different metadata formats and RAID
levels.

Support for such popular metadata formats is now implemented:
Intel, JMicron, NVIDIA, Promise (also used by AMD/ATI) and SiliconImage.

Such RAID levels are now supported:
RAID0, RAID1, RAID1E, RAID10, SINGLE, CONCAT.

For any all of these RAID levels and metadata formats this class supports
full cycle of volume operations: reading, writing, creation, deletion,
disk removal and insertion, rebuilding, dirty shutdown detection
and resynchronization, bad sector recovery, faulty disks tracking,
hot-spare disks. For Intel and Promise formats there is support multiple
volumes per disk set.

bf0192385b Flip this over to be a configurable option for people who wish to play with it.
It's still not ready for prime-time - there's some TX niggles with these 11n
cards that I'm still trying to wrap my head around, and AMPDU-TX is just not
implemented so things will come to a crashing halt if you're not careful.

cd817c0d10 Fix switching to physical mode as part of calling into EFI runtime
services or PAL procedures. The new implementation is based on
specific functions that are known to be called in certain scenarios
only. This in particular fixes the PAL call to obtain information
about translation registers. In general, the new implementation does
not bank on virtual addresses being direct-mapped and will work when
the kernel uses PBVM.

When new scenarios need to be supported, new functions are added if
the existing functions cannot be changed to handle the new scenario.
If a single generic implementation is possible, it will become clear
in due time.

While here, change bootinfo to a pointer type in anticipation of
future development.

5d9b71c225 Port over the AR9285 PA calibration and initial calibration code from
Linux ath9k.

The ath9k ar9002_hw_init_cal() isn't entirely clear about what
is supposed to be called for what chipsets, so I'm ignoring the
rest of it and just porting the AR9285 init cal path as-is and
leaving the rest alone. Subsequent commits may also tidy up the
Merlin (AR9285) and other chipset support.

c0c76118d8 Implement open-loop TX power control (OLC) for Merlin (AR9280) and
generally tidy up the TX power programming code.

Enforce that the TX power offset for Merlin is -5 dBm, rather than
any other value programmable in the EEPROM. This requires some
further code to be ported over from ath9k, so until that is done
and tested, fail to attach NICs whose TX power offset isn't -5
dBm.

This improves both legacy and HT transmission on my merlin board.
It allows for stable MCS TX up to MCS15.

Specifics:

* Refactor out a bunch of the TX power calibration code -
  setting/obtaining the power detector / gain boundaries,
  programming the PDADC
* Take the -5 dBm TX power offset into account on Merlin -
  "0" in the per-rate TX power register means -5 dBm, not
  0 dBm
* When doing OLC
* Enforce min (0) and max (AR5416_MAX_RATE_POWER) when fiddling
  with the TX power, to avoid the TX power values from wrapping
  when low.
* Implement the 1 dBm cck power offset when doing OLC
* Implement temperature compensation for 2.4ghz mode when doing OLC
* Implement an AR9280 specific TX power calibration routine which
  includes the OLC twiddles, leaving the earlier chipset path
  (AR5416, AR9160) alone

Whilst here, use these refactored routines for the AR9285 TX power
calibration/programming code and enforce correct overflow/underflow
handling when fiddling with TX power values.

62f6a13e39 Add two new system calls, setloginclass(2) and getloginclass(2). This makes
it possible for the kernel to track login class the process is assigned to,
which is required for RCTL.  This change also make setusercontext(3) call
setloginclass(2) and makes it possible to retrieve current login class using
id(1).

6894aabcb5 Add initial support for Capsicum's Capability Mode to the FreeBSD kernel,
compiled conditionally on options CAPABILITIES:

Add a new credential flag, CRED_FLAG_CAPMODE, which indicates that a
subject (typically a process) is in capability mode.

Add two new system calls, cap_enter(2) and cap_getmode(2), which allow
setting and querying (but never clearing) the flag.

Export the capability mode flag via process information sysctls.

58abb279f5 Merge binutils 2.17.50 to head. This brings a number of improvements to

11926ca84d Adds an experimental option to create a pool of
threads. These serve as input threads and are queued
packets based on the V-tag number. This is similar to
what a modern card can do with queue's for TCP... but
alas modern cards know nothing about SCTP.

d415e28b03 Include some preliminary TX HT rate scenario setup code.
The AR5416 and later TX descriptors have new fields for supporting
11n bits (eg 20/40mhz mode, short/long GI) and enabling/disabling
RTS/CTS protection per rate.

These functions will be responsible for initialising the TX descriptors
for the AR5416 and later chips for both HT and legacy frames.

Beacon frames will remain using the non-11n TX descriptor setup for now;
Linux ath9k does much the same.

Note that these functions aren't yet used anywhere; a few more framework
changes are needed before all of the right rate information is available
for TX.

* the raw and non-raw TX path shares a lot of duplicate code which should be
  refactored;

sys/dev/ath/ath_hal/ar5416/ is getting very crowded and further
commits will make it even more crowded. Now is a good time to
shuffle these files out before any more extensive work is done
on them.

Create an ar9003 directory whilst I'm here; ar9003 specific
chipset code will eventually live there.

376dbcfd36 ldscript and conf cleanup for MIPS
- Remove sys/conf/ldscript.mips.64 and sys/conf/ldscript.mips.n32 and use
  ldscript.mips for all ABIs. The default OUTPUT_FORMAT of the toolchain
  is correct.
- Remove LDSCRIPT_NAME entires from XLR n32 and n64 conf files.
- Remove TARGET_BIG_ENDIAN from XLR conf files.
- Fix machine entry in XLRN32

71b8a6991f The output format should be determined by the ABI flags, not the ldscript.
This ldscript is used with both little-endian and big-endian targets.

This hopefully fixes MIPS universe.

NB: We really should get rid of almost all of the MIPS ldscripts.  There's
    only gratuitous differences between them, mostly because they're too
    specific or they do things like specify the output format rather than
    taking it from flags given in the kernel config file or the default
    output format of the compiler.

Also add svn:keywords property.

ea861abf2a Add reader/writer lock around mem_range_attr_get() and mem_range_attr_set().
Compile sys/dev/mem/memutil.c for all supported platforms and remove now
unnecessary dev_mem_md_init().  Consistently define mem_range_softc from
mem.c for all platforms.  Add missing #include guards for machine/memdev.h
and sys/memrange.h.  Clean up some nearby style(9) nits.

c2aa4fc0eb Import support for the Sony Playstation 3 using the OtherOS feature
available on firmwares 3.15 and earlier.

Caveats: Support for the internal SATA controller is currently missing,
as is support for framebuffer resolutions other than 720x480. These
deficiencies will be remedied soon.

Special thanks to Peter Grehan for providing the hardware that made this
port possible, and thanks to Geoff Levand of Sony Computer Entertainment
for advice on the LV1 hypervisor.

b5469e8b58 Make "options XENHVM" compile for i386, not just amd64 -- a largely
mechanical change.  This opens the door for using PV device drivers
under Xen HVM on i386, as well as more general harmonisation of i386
and amd64 Xen support in FreeBSD.

e90b6f07f7 Add driver for DM&P Vortex86 RDC R6040 Fast Ethernet.
The controller is commonly found on DM&P Vortex86 x86 SoC.  The
driver supports all hardware features except flow control.  The
flow control was intentionally disabled due to silicon bug.

DM&P Electronics, Inc. provided all necessary information including
sample board to write driver and answered many questions I had.

dedc1118c9 - Introduce the Hhook (Helper Hook) KPI. The KPI is closely modelled on pfil(9),
and in many respects can be thought of as a more generic superset of pfil.
  Hhook provides a way for kernel subsystems to export hook points that Khelp
  modules can hook to provide enhanced or new functionality to the kernel. The
  KPI has been designed to ensure hook points pose no noticeable overhead when
  no hook functions are registered.

- Introduce the Khelp (Kernel Helpers) KPI. Khelp provides a framework for
  managing Khelp modules, which indirectly use the Hhook KPI to register their
  hook functions with hook points of interest within the kernel. Khelp modules
  aim to provide a structured way to dynamically extend the kernel at runtime in
  an ABI preserving manner. Depending on the subsystem providing hook points, a
  Khelp module may be able to associate per-object data for maintaining relevant
  state between hook calls.

- pjd's Object Specific Data (OSD) KPI is used to manage the per-object data
  allocated to Khelp modules. Create a new "OSD_KHELP" OSD type for use by the
  Khelp framework.

- Bump __FreeBSD_version to 900028 to mark the introduction of the new KPIs.
