3d5b3b0a44 Tune xDMA interface slightly:
o Move descriptors allocation to DMA engine driver
o Add generic xdma_request() routine
o Add less-generic scatter-gather application based on xdma interface

Typical operation flow in peripheral device driver is:

1. Get xDMA controller
sc->xdma_tx = xdma_ofw_get(sc->dev, "tx");

2. Allocate virtual channel
sc->xchan_tx = xdma_channel_alloc(sc->xdma_tx, caps);

3. Setup transfer status callback
xdma_setup_intr(sc->xchan_tx, my_tx_intr, sc, &sc->ih_tx);

4. Request a transfer(s)
ret = xdma_request(sc->xchan_tx, &req);

5. Free the channel
xdma_channel_free(sc->xdma_tx);

6. Free the controller
xdma_put(sc->xdma_tx);

2ff91c175e netmap: align codebase to the current upstream (commit id 3fb001303718146)
Changelist:
    - Turn tx_rings and rx_rings arrays into arrays of pointers to kring
structs. This patch includes fixes for ixv, ixl, ix, re, cxgbe, iflib,
vtnet and ptnet drivers to cope with the change.
    - Generalize the nm_config() callback to accept a struct containing many
      parameters.
    - Introduce NKR_FAKERING to support buffers sharing (used for netmap
      pipes)
    - Improved API for external VALE modules.
    - Various bug fixes and improvements to the netmap memory allocator,
including support for externally (userspace) allocated memory.
    - Refactoring of netmap pipes: now linked rings share the same netmap
buffers, with a separate set of kring pointers (rhead, rcur, rtail).
Buffer swapping does not need to happen anymore.
    - Large refactoring of the control API towards an extensible solution;
the goal is to allow the addition of more commands and extension of
existing ones (with new options) without the need of hacks or the
risk of running out of configuration space.
A new NIOCCTRL ioctl has been added to handle all the requests of the
new control API, which cover all the functionalities so far supported.
The netmap API bumps from 11 to 12 with this patch. Full backward
compatibility is provided for the old control command (NIOCREGIF), by
means of a new netmap_legacy module. Many parts of the old netmap.h
header has now been moved to netmap_legacy.h (included by netmap.h).

opt_compat.h is mentioned in nearly 180 files. In-progress network
driver compabibility improvements may add over 100 more so this is
closer to "just about everywhere" than "only some files" per the
guidance in sys/conf/options.

Keep COMPAT_LINUX32 in opt_compat.h as it is confined to a subset of
sys/compat/linux/*.c. A fake _COMPAT_LINUX option ensure opt_compat.h
is created on all architectures.

Move COMPAT_LINUXKPI to opt_dontuse.h as it is only used to control the

b09de0b34a Add support for the Coresight technology from ARM Ltd.
ARM Coresight is a solution for debug and trace of complex SoC designs.

This includes a collection of drivers for ARM Coresight interconnect
devices within a small Coresight framework.

Supported devices are:
o Embedded Trace Macrocell v4 (ETMv4)
o Funnel
o Dynamic Replicator
o Trace Memory Controller (TMC)
o CPU debug module

Devices are connected to each other internally in SoC and the
configuration of each device endpoints is described in FDT.

Typical trace flow (as found on Qualcomm Snapdragon 410e):
CPU0 -> ETM0 -> funnel1 -> funnel0 -> ETF -> replicator -> ETR -> DRAM
CPU1 -> ETM1 -^
CPU2 -> ETM2 -^
CPU3 -> ETM3 -^

Note that both Embedded Trace FIFO (ETF) and Embedded Trace Router (ETR)
are hardware configurations of TMC.

This is required for upcoming HWPMC tracing support.

This is tested on single-core system only.

0b0c76bc58 MFV r331695, 331700: 9166 zfs storage pool checkpoint
illumos/illumos-gate@8671400134

The idea of Storage Pool Checkpoint (aka zpool checkpoint) deals with
exactly that. It can be thought of as a “pool-wide snapshot” (or a
variation of extreme rewind that doesn’t corrupt your data). It remembers
the entire state of the pool at the point that it was taken and the user
can revert back to it later or discard it. Its generic use case is an
administrator that is about to perform a set of destructive actions to ZFS
as part of a critical procedure. She takes a checkpoint of the pool before
performing the actions, then rewinds back to it if one of them fails or puts
the pool into an unexpected state. Otherwise, she discards it. With the
assumption that no one else is making modifications to ZFS, she basically
wraps all these actions into a “high-level transaction”.

63a938566d Add VMCI (Virtual Machine Communication Interface) driver
In a virtual machine, VMCI is exposed as a regular PCI device. The primary
communication mechanisms supported are a point-to-point bidirectional
transport based on a pair of memory-mapped queues, and asynchronous
notifications in the form of datagrams and doorbells. These features are
available to kernel level components such as vSockets through the VMCI
kernel API. In addition to this, the VMCI kernel API provides support for
receiving events related to the state of the VMCI communication channels,
and the virtual machine itself.

c2f5940db3 Add dtb overlays support
DTB Overlays are useful to change/add nodes to a dtb without the need to
modify it.
Add support for building dtbo during buildkernel.
The goal of DTBO present in the FreeBSD source tree is to fill a gap in
time when we submit changes upstream (Linux). Instead of waiting 2 to 4 months
we can add a DTBO in tree in the meantime.
This is not for adding DTBO for capes/hat/addon boards, those will be
better to put in a ports.
This is also not for enabling a i2c/spi/pwm controller on certain pins,
each user have a different use case for those (which pins to use etc ...)
and we cannot have all possible configuration.

Add a dtbo for sun8i-h3-sid which add the SID node missing in upstream dts.

f20b553d75 Add mutual exclusion mechanism for software reset of firmware in mlx5core.
Since the FW can be shared between PCI functions it is common that
more than one health poll will detected a failure, this can lead to
multiple resets.

The solution is to use a FW locking mechanism using semaphore space to
provide a way to synchronize between functions. The FW semaphore is
acquired via config cycle access. First the VSEC gateway must be
acquired, then the semaphore can be locked by writing a value to it
and confirmed it's locked by reading the same value back. The process
in the same to free the semaphore, except the value written should be
zero.

2529f56ed3 Add the "TCP Blackbox Recorder" which we discussed at the developer
summits at BSDCan and BSDCam in 2017.

The TCP Blackbox Recorder allows you to capture events on a TCP connection
in a ring buffer. It stores metadata with the event. It optionally stores
the TCP header associated with an event (if the event is associated with a
packet) and also optionally stores information on the sockets.

It supports setting a log ID on a TCP connection and using this to correlate
multiple connections that share a common log ID.

You can log connections in different modes. If you are doing a coordinated
test with a particular connection, you may tell the system to put it in
mode 4 (continuous dump). Or, if you just want to monitor for errors, you
can put it in mode 1 (ring buffer) and dump all the ring buffers associated
with the connection ID when we receive an error signal for that connection
ID. You can set a default mode that will be applied to a particular ratio
of incoming connections. You can also manually set a mode using a socket
option.

This commit includes only basic probes. rrs@ has added quite an abundance
of probes in his TCP development work. He plans to commit those soon.

There are user-space programs which we plan to commit as ports. These read
the data from the log device and output pcapng files, and then let you
analyze the data (and metadata) in the pcapng files.

0e33efe4e4 Import Blake2 algorithms (blake2b, blake2s) from libb2
The upstream repository is on github BLAKE2/libb2. Files landed in
sys/contrib/libb2 are the unmodified upstream files, except for one
difference: secure_zero_memory's contents have been replaced with
explicit_bzero() only because the previous implementation broke powerpc
link. Preferential use of explicit_bzero() is in progress upstream, so
it is anticipated we will be able to drop this diff in the future.

sys/crypto/blake2 contains the source files needed to port libb2 to our
build system, a wrapped (limited) variant of the algorithm to match the API
of our auth_transform softcrypto abstraction, incorporation into the Open
Crypto Framework (OCF) cryptosoft(4) driver, as well as an x86 SSE/AVX
accelerated OCF driver, blake2(4).

Optimized variants of blake2 are compiled for a number of x86 machines
(anything from SSE2 to AVX + XOP). On those machines, FPU context will need
to be explicitly saved before using blake2(4)-provided algorithms directly.
Use via cryptodev / OCF saves FPU state automatically, and use via the
auth_transform softcrypto abstraction does not use FPU.

The intent of the OCF driver is mostly to enable testing in userspace via
/dev/crypto. ATF tests are added with published KAT test vectors to
validate correctness.

e9ac27430c Implement getrandom(2) and getentropy(3)
The general idea here is to provide userspace programs with well-defined
sources of entropy, in a fashion that doesn't require opening a new file
descriptor (ulimits) or accessing paths (/dev/urandom may be restricted
by chroot or capsicum).

getrandom(2) is the more general API, and comes from the Linux world.
Since our urandom and random devices are identical, the GRND_RANDOM flag
is ignored.

getentropy(3) is added as a compatibility shim for the OpenBSD API.

truss(1) support is included.

Tests for both system calls are provided. Coverage is believed to be at
least as comprehensive as LTP getrandom(2) test coverage. Additionally,
instructions for running the LTP tests directly against FreeBSD are provided
in the "Test Plan" section of the Differential revision linked below. (They
pass, of course.)

beb2406556 amd64: Protect the kernel text, data, and BSS by setting the RW/NX bits
correctly for the data contained on each memory page.

There are several components to this change:
 * Add a variable to indicate the start of the R/W portion of the
   initial memory.
 * Stop detecting NX bit support for each AP. Instead, use the value
from the BSP and, if supported, activate the feature on the other
APs just before loading the correct page table. (Functionally, we
already assume that the BSP and all APs had the same support or
lack of support for the NX bit.)
 * Set the RW and NX bits correctly for the kernel text, data, and
BSS (subject to some caveats below).
 * Ensure DDB can write to memory when necessary (such as to set a
   breakpoint).
 * Ensure GDB can write to memory when necessary (such as to set a
breakpoint). For this purpose, add new MD functions gdb_begin_write()
and gdb_end_write() which the GDB support code can call before and
   after writing to memory.

This change is not comprehensive:
 * It doesn't do anything to protect modules.
 * It doesn't do anything for kernel memory allocated after the kernel
   starts running.
 * In order to avoid excessive memory inefficiency, it may let multiple
types of data share a 2M page, and assigns the most permissions
needed for data on that page.

24f93aa05f imcsmb(4): Intel integrated Memory Controller (iMC) SMBus controller driver
imcsmb(4) provides smbus(4) support for the SMBus controller functionality
in the integrated Memory Controllers (iMCs) embedded in Intel Sandybridge-
Xeon, Ivybridge-Xeon, Haswell-Xeon, and Broadwell-Xeon CPUs. Each CPU
implements one or more iMCs, depending on the number of cores; each iMC
implements two SMBus controllers (iMC-SMBs).

*** IMPORTANT NOTE ***
Because motherboard firmware or the BMC might try to use the iMC-SMBs for
monitoring DIMM temperatures and/or managing an NVDIMM, the driver might
need to temporarily disable those functions, or take a hardware interlock,
before using the iMC-SMBs. Details on how to do this may vary from board to
board, and the procedure may be proprietary. It is strongly suggested that
anyone wishing to use this driver contact their motherboard vendor, and
modify the driver as described in the manual page and in the driver itself.
(For what it's worth, the driver as-is has been tested on various SuperMicro
motherboards.)

064827be34 MFV r329799, r329800:
9079 race condition in starting and ending condesing thread for indirect vdevs

illumos/illumos-gate@667ec66f1b

The timeline of the race condition is the following:
[1] Thread A is about to finish condesing the first vdev in spa_condense_indirect_thread(),
so it calls the spa_condense_indirect_complete_sync() sync task which sets the
spa_condensing_indirect field to NULL. Waiting for the sync task to finish, thread A
sleeps until the txg is done. When this happens, thread A will acquire spa_async_lock
and set spa_condense_thread to NULL.
[2] While thread A waits for the txg to finish, thread B which is running spa_sync() checks
whether it should condense the second vdev in vdev_indirect_should_condense() by checking
the spa_condensing_indirect field which was set to NULL by spa_condense_indirect_thread()
from thread A. So it goes on and tries to spawn a new condensing thread in
spa_condense_indirect_start_sync() and the aforementioned assertions fails because thread A
has not set spa_condense_thread to NULL (which is basically the last thing it does before
returning).

The main issue here is that we rely on both spa_condensing_indirect and spa_condense_thread to
signify whether a condensing thread is running. Ideally we would only use one throughout the
codebase. In addition, for managing spa_condense_thread we currently use spa_async_lock which
basically tights condensing to scrubing when it comes to pausing and resuming those actions
during spa export.

24433f00ea MFV r329502: 7614 zfs device evacuation/removal
illumos/illumos-gate@5cabbc6b49

https://www.illumos.org/issues/7614:
This project allows top-level vdevs to be removed from the storage pool with
“zpool remove”, reducing the total amount of storage in the pool. This
operation copies all allocated regions of the device to be removed onto other
devices, recording the mapping from old to new location. After the removal is
complete, read and free operations to the removed (now “indirect”) vdev must
be remapped and performed at the new location on disk. The indirect mapping
table is kept in memory whenever the pool is loaded, so there is minimal
performance overhead when doing operations on the indirect vdev.

The size of the in-memory mapping table will be reduced when its entries
become “obsolete” because they are no longer used by any block pointers in
the pool. An entry becomes obsolete when all the blocks that use it are
freed. An entry can also become obsolete when all the snapshots that
reference it are deleted, and the block pointers that reference it have been
“remapped” in all filesystems/zvols (and clones). Whenever an indirect block
is written, all the block pointers in it will be “remapped” to their new
(concrete) locations if possible. This process can be accelerated by using
the “zfs remap” command to proactively rewrite all indirect blocks that
reference indirect (removed) vdevs.

Note that when a device is removed, we do not verify the checksum of the data
that is copied. This makes the process much faster, but if it were used on
redundant vdevs (i.e. mirror or raidz vdevs), it would be possible to copy
the wrong data, when we have the correct data on e.g. the other side of the
mirror. Therefore, mirror and raidz devices can not be removed.

90a48fba23 After r328426, g_label depends on UFS (option FFS) code to read UFS
superblock, and the kernel will fail to link when UFS is not built
in. This commit makes it depend on a small portion of FFS bits and
thereby fixes build for this situation.

This is intended as an interim bandaid, and the actual superblock
reading code should probably be made independent of UFS, so we do
not need to depend on it (see kib@'s comment in the review for
details), and we will revisit this once the superblock check hashes
are all in place.

283f8a5c33 Remove system makefile path directives from env passed to PORTS_MODULES step
Previously, MAKESYSPATH as well as '-m' directives in MAKEFLAGS would cause
any port rebuilt during the PORTS_MODULES stage to consume system makefiles
from $(SRCROOT)/share/mk instead of those installed under /usr/share/mk.
For kernel modules that need to build against an updated src tree this
makes sense; less so for <bsd.port.mk> or any userspace library or utility
the port may also happen to install.

Before 11.0, this probably didn't matter much in practice. But the addition
of src.libnames.mk under $(SRCROOT)/share/mk in 11.0 breaks any consumer of
bsd.prog.mk and DPADD/LDADD during PORTS_MODULES.

Address the build breakage by removing MAKESYSPATH and any occurrence of
'-m' from MAKEFLAGS in the environment created for the port build.
Instead set SYSDIR so that any kmod built by the port will still consume
conf/kmod.mk from the updated src tree, assuming it uses <bsd.kmod.mk>

ac9b43252a PowerNV: initial support for PCIe host controller
Provide initial support for PCIe host controller as
well as for IOMMU mapping. This commit allows proper
bus enumeration, but does not guarantee DMA operations
are working.

For each we need to walk the MADT to find which we have, then add the
driver as needed. As each may have a child they will each walk the same
table to find these details.

This adds a new acpi_bus interface with a map_intr method. This is similar
to the Open Firmware map_intr method and allows us to create the needed
mapping from ACPI space to INTRNG space.

8038068a2a Finally, fix Zstd kernel build on MIPS and RISC-V
Add an implementation of the intrinsics invoked by __builtin_ctz{,ll} and
__builtin_clz{,ll}, and include this compilation unit on platforms that lack
assembly intrinsics for those builtins (MIPS and RISC-V).

Future cleanup work might involve bringing these into a mini libcompiler-rt
for the standalone kernel environment. Or cleaning up the approach upstream
takes for builtins in standalone environments (or just FreeBSD). For now,
at least this builds, and doesn't require modifying the vendor code.

ad7a1fc6c5 Fix Zstd x86 kernel build with -march=<specific>
Disable Zstd experimental support for __BMI__ intrinsics, when built with
-march=foo supporting such intrinsics, to avoid attempting to include
immintrin.h. If a later Zstd marks the support non-experimental, we may want
to revisit this approach.

4bb409fb8d Add a framework to install CPU errata on arm64. Each erratum can encode
a mask and value to compare with the Main ID Register. If these match then a
function is called to handle the installation of the erratum workaround.

No errata are currently handled, however this will change soon in a future
commit.

78f57a9cde Generalize the gzio API.
We currently use a set of subroutines in kern_gzio.c to perform
compression of user and kernel core dumps. In the interest of adding
support for other compression algorithms (zstd) in this role without
complicating the API consumers, add a simple compressor API which can be
used to select an algorithm.

Also change the (non-default) GZIO kernel option to not enable
compressed user cores by default. It's not clear that such a default
would be desirable with support for multiple algorithms implemented,
and it's inconsistent in that it isn't applied to kernel dumps.

d626b50b9d make SW_WATCHDOG dynamic
Enable the hardclock-based watchdog previously conditional on the
SW_WATCHDOG option whenever hardware watchdogs are not found, and
watchdogd attempts to enable the watchdog. The SW_WATCHDOG option
still causes the sofware watchdog to be enabled even if there is a
hardware watchdog. This does not change the other software-based
watchdog enabled by the --softtimeout option to watchdogd.

Note that the code to reprime the watchdog during kernel core dumps is
no longer conditional on SW_WATCHDOG. I think this was previously a bug.

ae3d6bfa20 Connect kern_tslog.c to the build and add TSLOG / TSLOGSIZE kernel options.
These are intended for debugging purposes and should not be added to
"generic" kernel configurations since they result in a nontrivial amount
of memory being set aside for this purpose, can break if kernel modules are
unloaded, and can potentially leak a dangerous amount of information about
timestamps used as a source of kernel entropy.
